Thoroughly Tested for Safety

This hub-and-drum assembly meets the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. This assembly underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. This assembly has also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

I installed these on a boat trailer. No sign of rust so far.

by:

I painted mine to match my wheels

by:

Shipping is horrible. They placed (2) drum kits, (2) brake kits and (1) wheel in the same package without any rigid support between the components. Upon delivery, a brake drum with a chip where the seal is installed and one brake kit was almost disassembled. Studs in the backing plates were dislodged due to hitting other parts. Your best bet is to order everything individually or at most in pairs if you don’t want damage. Package was so heavy, UPS driver basically rolled it out the truck. Have not installed so can’t comment on quality. With so many bad reviews on packaging, one would think it would be addressed.

by:

Step by step shipping updates were fant astic

by:

Seem to be good quality. They fit beautifully over the no adjust brake assemblies.

by:

Outstanding costumer service each rep I talk with help me find the right trailer hub that I was looking far. Iwill most difinitely use you again.

by:

Product looks great, heavy-duty and ready for install! Would have given 5-Star if the shipping boxes weren't damaged.

by:

Installed on a cargomate 6x12 enclosed. It all (brake kit and drums) just fit, and now they just work. As advertised. No issues.

by:

Went on great and easy to install! No cotter pin with this kit so save yours!

by:

Working with sales at etrailer was very helpful. Delivery was way faster than estimated.

by:

easy to install good product

by:

Great communication and fast shipping

by:

Thanks to help from Ashley, all the components I ordered were a perfect fit for adding brakes to my boat trailer. Since I am pulling my 18' runabout with a minivan, like feeling the trailer brakes kick in during stops. Hopefully they do not turn into a maintenance issue but since the majority of the time I am launching in fresh water, optimistic they will provide years of service.

by:

just picked up today, product looks great, as described. One tang on one lock washer was broken off upon delivery, but not a big deal. Fast delivery to Blaine for pick up.

  • Replacement For 3,500 lb Hydraulic Drum Brake Assembly For Boat Trailer
So you're going to have to change out your hub and drum as well as tires to get a replacement brake assembly. The issue is your current drum being only 8.5” diameter x 2-1/4” wide; there are no brakes that fit that size drum. I appreciate all the info you provided and based on that, here is what you'll need: - Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 3,500-lb Axles - 10" Diameter - 5 on 4-1/2 - Galvanized # AKHD-545-35-G-K - Hydraulic Brake Kit - Uni-Servo - Free Backing - Dacromet - 10" - Left/Right...

  • Brake Controller And Brakes Recommendations For 2010 Kia Sedona And Trailer
Thank you for the spec sheet on the axle you have on your trailer. I spoke with my contact at Dexter and they told me that you do not need to replace your axle, you can just upgrade the one you have. They told me that you have the brake mounting flange mounted on your axle so what you will want to do is add a new hub and drum, the brakes, and wiring for your trailer, and you should be good to go. The hub and drum I recommend is the etrailer.com Trailer Hub Assembly, part # AKHD-545-35-G-K....

  • How To Determine If Boat Trailer has 10 Inch or 12 Inch Brake Assemblies
When determining if you need 10 inch or 12 inch brake assemblies there are a couple of easy things to check to confirm the fit for your trailer. The first thing is you can measure the diameter of your hub. The second thing is you can look at the brake flange, if it has 4 bolts then it is 10 inch if it has 5 then it is 12 inch. Because you know you have a #84 spindle we can be confident that you have a 3,500 lb axle and you will need the 10 inch assemblies. I recommend the Hydraulic...

The etrailer.com Trailer Hub Assembly for 3,500 Pound Axles # 8-248-50UC1 referenced in your question will work great as a replacement hub on your trailer. It uses the inner bearing # L68149 (which is typically used with the # 68110 race you mentioned) along with the outer bearing # L44649. As you mentioned, this is an idler hub that has a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. For the trailer hub and drum assembly you can use # AKHD-545-35-G-K. If this is correct then you can use the Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # AKEBRK-35 and the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part # AKHD-545-35-G-K.
