Replacement For 3,500 lb Hydraulic Drum Brake Assembly For Boat Trailer

Question:

Hi, Thanks for chatting with me earlier. I am looking to replace the hydraulic brake kit on my boat trailer. It’s a tandem trailer. I bought it a few weeks ago, and I just disassembled the brakes, and it was all falling apart. I am attaching below a photo of the current assembly. Tire: 205/65-10 Style of brake - Hydraulic Axle, 2” square. External bearings L44649. Internal bearings L68149. Its a 5-lug with a 3,500 lbs axle capacity. Drum internal diameter 8.5” x 2-1/4” wide Let me know if you have a replacement. My current one does have a connection for washing it from salt water, and it will be great if it will not lock when reversing with the trailer. Thanks

So you're going to have to change out your hub and drum as well as tires to get a replacement brake assembly. The issue is your current drum being only 8.5” diameter x 2-1/4” wide; there are no brakes that fit that size drum. I appreciate all the info you provided and based on that, here is what you'll need:

- Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 3,500-lb Axles - 10" Diameter - 5 on 4-1/2 - Galvanized # AKHD-545-35-G-K

- Hydraulic Brake Kit - Uni-Servo - Free Backing - Dacromet - 10" - Left/Right Hand - 3,500 lbs # AKFBBRK-35-D

- Mounting Hardware # BRKH10B

- Karrier ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire with 14" Galvanized Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 # AM32156
