Thoroughly Tested for Safety

This hub-and-drum assembly meets the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. This assembly underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. This assembly has also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Very well made. Good fit and installed easily. Comes with new grease caps and lug nuts. Used these in conjunction with new brake assemblies. No problems and performs well. Would recommend these to anyone.

- AKHD-655-6-K

The description didn't say it came with ezlube grease caps. I bought them separately but turns out they were included. Now i get to return them.

- AKHD-655-6-K

- AKHD-655-6-K

Trailer hub and drum assemblies purchased to replace original units on a 2002 tandem wheel boat trailer. The assemblies were quality units that fit perfectly, installation was easy.

- AKHD-655-6-K

I have received 4 hubs and they were delivered Undamaged. I’ve installed 3 thus far. They fit perfectly. As soon as I get the forth one installed I’ll take the trailer out and test them. So far so good.

- AKHD-655-6-K

I installed, and adjusted the 4-items : AKHD-655-6K drum assembles without any problems. Also glad I ordered the extra RG06-090 seals with 2.125 diameter because they turned out to be the correct ones. I highly recommend etrailer parts to anyone looking for good quality products.

Exact replacement for my Wife's Sundowner horse trailer. Came prepacked with grease and bearings. Fast free shipping and packaged for an air drop from 100 feet!

- AKHD-655-6-K

I ordered four 5200lbs electric brake assemblies and 2 drum/hubs. The items were shipped quickly and arrived complete and were a perfect fit for my trailer. The best part was the savings over a local trailer supply store. Etrailer was almost half the price!!

Ordered new self adjusting brakes and drums for our rv. Ordered Friday afternoon on our porch Monday evening. I've ordered from etrailer a number of times and have always been very happy with the products and service. Thanks!!!

- AKHD-655-6-K

Nothing fancy, but exactly what I needed to replace the trailer hubs on the trailer. Have pulled the trailer close to a 1,000 miles and no problems. Thanks etrailer for the great products.

- AKHD-655-6-K

These were a perfect fit for my 1975 Hale Livestock trailer. It's very nice to have working brakes again. Now I need to order parts for the car hauler.

- AKHD-655-6-K

I installed new electric breaks in my travel trailer 1 year ago. They were easy to install and have been working great!

- AKHD-655-6-K

This kit is the way to go. Race is installed, comes with everything to make the trailer axle right. I ordered 4. 1 set was missing the inner seal, which they send to me in 3 days.

- AKHD-655-6-K

It replaced the old drum and hub, electric brake assemblies, it was an exact fit. The outer bearing race was loose in the old hub drum assembly, that was the reason of my repair endeavor. I am very happy with the service I received from Etrailer.com... Thanks George J. for your effort in getting the replacement parts to me. I am considering doing right side of my axle for the sake of uniformity, as am writing this review!

- AKHD-655-6-K

Great service and fast turn around. Only one problem ... the cheap products that are made in China, my hub works but is less weight and quality as the other American made ones. I would have been more than happy to pay the additional cost for American Made products.

- AKHD-655-6-K

Great products and fast shipping. I use my trailer daily and etrailer keeps me rolling !!!!

- AKHD-655-6-K

Great quality. Just what I needed ! Quick shipping, too.

- AKHD-655-6-K

Every thing was right and fit well. Tha nks.

- AKHD-655-6-K

This is a Spare Hub for my Car/Equipment trailer .When not if you have a bearing Failure just change the Hub, no need to try to beat gaulded bearing Races out on the side of the Road !! But if its a easy Bearing Change they are included with this Kit .

- AKHD-655-6-K

I am very pleased with the Loaded backing plates, drums, bearings and tandem axle hanger kit. All appear to be better quality than what came on the trailer originally

- AKHD-655-6-K

Drum is identical to the one that I am replacing, so of course it fit and functioned well. Fast shipping, and excellent service. Christina J was exceptionally courteous and helpful when placing my order, and her follow up afterward was spot on. Thanks for the great product and service!!!

  • How to Determine What Hub and Drums Will Fit Vintage Military Trailer
Since 5 on 6-7/8" is not a standard bolt pattern for a trailer nowadays, you'll need to start by first replacing your hubs and drums, which will allow you to fit a wheel with a more standard bolt pattern. There are a couple of different ways to determine the hubs and drums you need for your vintage military trailer. The easiest is to take apart your current hub assembly and look at the bearings themselves; wipe away the grease and you should be able to see the part number stamped directly...

So instead, what you will need is the following: - Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # 8-201-5UC3 This has the correct bearings and seal, and you said you were trying to get away from 14.4 wheels, and you can do so with this hub and drum, which is compatible with the same size wheels...

That said, this comes with a 2.25" grease seal and you need a 2.125" grease seal so in addition to the hub/drum you also need the Grease Seal part # GS-2125DL. The correct braking assemblies are then going to be Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # AKEBRK-6.

  • How to Tell if a Trailer Hub and Drum can Be Used with Electric Brake Assemblies
If you look at the inside of the drums you will need to look to see if the the magnet of the electric brake assemblies has a smooth surface to slide along. Typically it's the wheel studs of a hydraulic only drum that prevent the drum from being able to be used with electric assemblies. If the studs are recessed like in the picture I attached the assembly should work just fine.

When you installed the new brakes did you adjust them?
