Video Transcript for Redline Trailer Brakes BRKH10B Review

Today we're going to take a look at the mounting hardware for 10" brake assemblies. This hardware will allow you to install two trailer brake assemblies to the 4-bolt brake mounting flange on the trailer axle. This hardware is designed to fit the 10" brake assemblies that already have the mounting bolts installed on the assemblies. These will work with electric or hydraulic brakes. It includes everything shown here on the table. It includes eight of the 7/16 by 20 nuts, and they do have a head size of 11/16. Here's a socket that has 11/16.

You can see it fits perfectly. It comes also with the eight lock washers. So, this would be all used to install the assemblies to your axle. That should do it for the review on the mounting hardware for 10" brake assemblies.

I added brakes on my boat trailer and these rubber brake lines made the install easy. However, I did have to install all the P clips provided plus a few more to make sure the lines would not chaff against the trailer frame. 830948

100% will and have ready reccomended etrailer!! I called because I truthfully had no idea what all I needed so I was hoping an expert would help me. My hold time was long, the recording told me approximately how long and it was accurate. Also, it's three weeks before the Fourth of July and everyone wants something to get road worthy. No big deal. Once Geoffrey was on the phone I was absolutely blown away. He was patient, understood exactly what I was looking for (even though I didn't) and was incredibly helpful in the phone. He took his time to make sure we were going to have everything we needed to get the job done and get camping. He checked to make sure we were ordering the right size, even when our owners manual was super confusing he assisted in how to figure out exactly what we needed. Shipping... Wow. We placed our order and less than 13 hours later it had been picked, packaged and was on its way to a shipping facility. We received it 2 days after placing the order at 7pm. We are close, but still, that's incredible! Completely satisfied with every aspect of this experience. 825157

Could not get my boat home from storage due to bearing and hub failure on the boat trailer. Talked to Tamarah M at etrailer to get the parts needed for onsite repairs. She was very knowledgeable and helpful. When one part was not in stock, she helped to expedite the shipping of the other parts, so I could at least begin repairs. I talked to her on Tuesday evening and the parts arrived on Thursday morning. Very appreciative of the excellent customer service from Tamarah and the entire etrailer crew. I own three trailers, and etrailer will always be my first choice for parts. 782641

Never disappointed with etrailer! I changed the electric brakes before, so I knew what to expect. This RV has been in the Fla. swamps for over 10 years, so rusk was dominate on the nuts. A bit of cleaning, penetrating oil and all went well. New wiring, new brakes and everything works great. Ian W shipped exactly what I needed and shipment arrived on time and well packaged. Hats off to ALL those involved in this process. I'll be back. 782552

  • Torque Spec for Nuts that Attach 10 inch Trailer Brake Assemblies
I called my contact at Dexter about the 10 inch Nev-R-Adjust brakes like part # 23-468. They told me when you are installing the brake assemblies to the brake mounting flange, the torque should be between 45 and 50 ft lbs.

  • How to Determine What is Needed to Switch from Hydraulic to Electric Brakes
There are parts you can put together to switch from hydraulic to electric brakes, though not a kit. And we don't have any way of knowing what parts will work on any specific trailer, but it's pretty easy to determine how. you need to know the weight rating of your axle, the bolt number of your brake mounting flange as well as the depth and diameter of your hub and drum. For example, you mentioned a max weight of over 5,000 lbs so your trailer axles could have 3,500 lb axles and drums...

  • Should Electric Brake Assemblies or Just Shoes Need to be Replaced
If you have worn-out electric brakes what you will need to do is replace the brake assembly. The correct electric brakes are going to depend on the size of your drum as well as the brake mounting flange you have on your trailer. For example the Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-7-SA fits 12" diameter x 2" wide drums and a 5-bolt brake mounting flange. These assemblies require mounting hardware # BRKH12. The Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-35-SA is for 10" diameter x 2-1/4"...

  • Choosing the Correct 10 x 2-1/4 Inch Electric Brakes
The brakes need to fit the axle. Or more specifically the hubs and the brake mounting flanges on the axle. One thing that may be confusing you is that brake assemblies for 4,400 pound axles and those for 3,500 pound axles are both 10 x 2-1/4 inches. The difference will be the brake mounting flange bolt hole pattern. If your axle is a indeed a 3,500 pound axle # AKEBRK-35-SA will work for you. The mounting bolts are included but you need part # BRKH10B for the nuts and lock washers. If...

  • 4 Hole Brake Mounting Flange Dimensions for 10 Inch Brake Assembly
The Electric Trailer Brake Kit - 10" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 3,500 lbs # AKEBRK-35 will bolt onto the standard brake flange like # 4-35 that is 2-7/8 inches on center and 4 inches diagonal on center. I've attached a photo to assist. The bolts will be 7/16"-20 and the Mounting Hardware for 10" Brake Assemblies # BRKH10B will give you the necessary lock washers and nuts compatible. • Spindle, Hub, Brake Assemblies, and Spindle Nut Recommendation for 3,500 lb Dexter Axle
The threaded portion of the spindle part # LC134563 that you referenced is 1 inch in diameter so the correct spindle nut is the pat # 165686. The hubs part # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K fits this spindle setup as well with the nuts # BRKH10B. The assemblies part # AKEBRK-35L-SA are also correct for this.

Let's start with the brake assemblies, which you were kind enough to give the dimensions on for the drum, as well as the axle capacity, which are the most important things. For self-adjusting electric brakes I recommend the Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting # AKEBRK-35-SA. • Parts Needed to Add Brakes to 3,500 lb Trailer Axle
Since we know you have 3,500 lb axles we can pretty easily pick out the correct parts you'd need to add brakes to your trailer. You'd need new hubs that have integrated drums like with the part # 84546UC3-EZ which have the very common 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. Then you'd need to add matching brake assemblies with the part # AKEBRK-35-SA and you'd be set aside from 10 gauge wiring like part # 10-1-1 which we offer that you'd want to wire up the assemblies with. This is sold by the foot.

The Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-35 comes with studs to mount the assemblies to the spindle mounting flange but does not come with drums or nuts for the assemblies to attach. For nuts to secure this to your spindle you'd want the kit part # BRKH10B. • Replacement Brake Assemblies and Hub Drums for 3500 lb Axle
Given the bearing numbers you provided, you have a typical 3500 lb axle which uses a 10 inch brake assembly.
