Features to know about

Consistent Stopping Power Even at Speed: Disc Brake Efficiency

For those demanding reliable braking performance, especially on highways, this disc brake kit is a game-changer. It delivers consistent stopping power, unlike drum brakes, ensuring shorter stopping distances and added safety. Perfect for travel trailers and boat trailers carrying up to 3,500 lbs, the performance at high speeds is a noticeable upgrade.

Resist the Ravages of Saltwater: Dacromet Coating

Saltwater environments are tough on brake components, but this kit's Dacromet-plated hubs and rotors offer superior corrosion resistance. Ideal for marine applications, the 500-hour salt-spray rating ensures durability, helping boat trailer owners avoid frequent replacements and maintenance hassles.

Simplify Brake Maintenance: Fewer Moving Parts

Switching to disc brakes reduces the complexity of brake maintenance significantly. With fewer moving parts compared to drum brakes, there are fewer components to maintain, allowing cost-effective upkeep. This translates to less time and money spent on repairs and replacements for trailer owners.

Adapt to Your Trailer with Ease: 5 on 4-1/2 Inch Bolt Pattern

Designed to fit seamlessly, the 10-inch hub/rotor accommodates 14 to 15-inch wheels with a common 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern. Whether you're upgrading a boat trailer or utility trailer, the fit ensures minimal hassle, making setup straightforward.

Prepare for Better Longevity: Matching Axle Capacity

Confidence in matching specifications with your 3,500 lbs axle capacity is a breeze. This kit includes essential hub and rotor assemblies, ensuring a precise and satisfying match for both performance and peace of mind.

Enhanced Durability with Stainless Steel Components: High-Quality Calipers

The calipers in this Premier Disc Brake Kit are equipped with stainless steel pistons and guide bolts, offering enhanced durability and longevity. This ensures the braking system remains reliable and resistant to wear, particularly beneficial for trailers frequently used in harsh conditions like boating and heavy-duty transport.

Note

  • Disc brakes require a higher line pressure (1,500 psi) than standard drum brakes (1,000 psi). To achieve this pressure, a brake actuator with a 1,500-psi rating is required.

An increasing number of trailer owners are switching over to disc brakes, and with good reason. Disc brake calipers have only one moving part, as opposed to the many moving parts you find with drum brakes. This means that with disc brakes there are fewer parts to maintain, fewer parts to get damaged, and fewer parts to repair or replace, thus reducing the cost of maintenance.

Performance increases as well. Disc brakes deliver consistent braking even at highway speeds, unlike drum brakes, which often show a substantial drop in braking torque at higher speeds. In addition, disc brakes offer a much shorter stopping distance than drum brakes.

Brakes locked up and instead of sliding tires, both caliper brackets sheared off and damaged both calipers. Your department did not want to warranty parts and referred us to Dexter.

by:

This kit went on great on my 2003 Shoreland’r single axle with disc brakes. I had to make some sharp pipe bends to connect the calipers to dodge the springs. The caliper and mounts are much better than what came with my trailer. The races being already installed was pretty sweet. Pack your bearings and drop it in!

by:

Good quality! Fast shipping ! Customer service is the best . Definitely continue doing business with etrailer produce!

by:

Bearing kit should be listed as an opti on

by:

1st time installing brakes on trailer came with everything I needed ,I highly recommend trailer for their help and advice on their products

by:

I launched the boat off this trailer today for the fist time in ten years. The new brakes, actuator, tires, and wheels worked. Minor issue- the low quality of workmanship of the wheels (it took a lot of lead to achieve dynamic balance). Perhaps an English language instruction manual with three axis drawings would help.

The Titan rotors and calipers were an easy install onto my EZ-Loader boat trailer. Etrailer has good pricing and the parts are shipped to my house. My surge brakes give my boat trailer a safe feel at 1/3 the cost of the local boat dealer.

The reality is, if you use your trailer in salt water you are periodically going to have to replace the rotors and calipers. They are not difficult to replace and etrailer makes it inexpensive. I have a very heavy boat and the titan system gives me confidence when on the road. Ill be back in 3-4 years for the inevitable brake job. Best bang for the buck.

by:

I had a wonderful experience with the greatest person in your employment I was more then pleased with her assistance I want to say thankyou

by:

The parts arrived as expected. Installation was easy, once the hard brake lines were changed to fit. Knowing that there are additional parts, such as, a different brake actuator, a reverse lockout solenoid, flexible brake lines, retainer brackets, vehicle and trailer electrical connectors and wires, would be needed for converting surge brake drum brakes to disc brakes, would have been helpful as a "complete" conversion kit. This would have made this a weekend project instead a 4 week project. Really looking forward to finishing this project by this weekend after the last of the parts get here. John, Kyle, Robert, Diana and Noah were all very helpful in getting me the correct parts.

by:

I want to thank etrailer. It all started with ordering the wrong parts because I didn't ask questions. A call to customer service and they set me straight. Installation was easy and my boat trailer was on the road again. etrailer has the best pricing and quick delivery. My boat trailer is used routinely in salt water and the brakes need to be redone every 2-3 years. The local marine shop used to replace my breaks and charge big bucks. Thanks to etrailer, I can redo them easily at half the cost.

by:

Replaced drum brakes with these and have had nothing but trouble free trailering since. Kit was not very hard to install. Online video helped and just a little mechanical knowledge made this conversion easy. After a year and a couple thousand miles of trailering my boat these brakes look and perform like new.

by:

After discovering my existing trailer brakes are locked up and the calipers are seized, I realized I needed a new system all together. I put these Titan brake parts on my Heritage boat trailer that carries my Baja 272. These parts fit my 3570lb Dexter axles perfectly and assembled with ease. The biggest issue I found was that the kits do not come with bolts that secure the caliper brackets to the axle mounding flanges. I ended up buying 16 7/16x14-1.5 inch corse thread zinc coated grade 5 bolts. The brackets centered on my axle nicely utilizing the centering lugs on the axle. My trailer required quite a bit of brake fluid to get these calipers to bleed out and pistons to extend all the way to plan to purchase a large bottle of brake fluid. Overall I am satisfied with these parts

by:

Had to buy the axle kit as my 4 year old Titan rotors cracked and replacement rotors were NLA. These are thicker which is how they should have made the cracked cheapass rotors in the first place. I had to hunt down grease seals as they didn't come with it. Also, no instructions were included so had to look up bolt torques on the Net. There was an interference issue so I had to notch out the flat Ubolt plate under the leaf springs to make clearance for the head of the long bottom caliper bolt, then it went together OK. Only time will tell how well these hold up. I would not have had to change the discs and calipers if the Titan ones I had didn't develop cracks in them.

by:

Retrofitted a Tracker/Tahoe boat trailer with the Titan system, as the trailer's OEM surge brake system by Tie Down Engineering is obsolete. Hubs/rotors are of high quality construction and machining. Brackets bolted directly onto the 3500# axle assembly. Dual bleeders on the caliper worked great. Highly recommend as a direct replacement!!

by:

The Titan Premier replacements for my old Titan standard disc brakes are very good. See my review of these brakes under the "bearings" review, where I thought I was addressing the brake installation due to the picture below the review box!
I can highly recommend them.

by:

These are to replace Titan brakes I installed to replace the original drum brakes on my boat trailer These seem improved over the first set. Easy to install, as long as you are a good mechanic with all needed tools. I like the straight forward install, nothing out of the ordinary.

by:

The brakes have worked well since installation last year. Installation went smoothly, once I realized I also needed to replace my axles, since the originals were not quite long enough to accommodate the conversion from drum to disks.

by:

These Titan brakes are better than the original brakes. They were easy to install. Although they have worked extremely well, due to the pandemic they are not getting much use. There are two long trips now postponed until next year. The trailer will be ready.

by:

Replaceing old hydrsaulic drum brakes with these disc brakes and a new hydraulic impulse actuator.

by:

Items shipped and recieved in minimal time easy installation product looks to be of superior quality and looks like follow on maintenance will be easy. Longevity will be tested in saltwater environment.

I am glad to our customer service team has been working on this with you and are sending you the parts needed, but I am sorry you then had to wait for a whole other shipment. Thank you for reaching out and letting us know about this!

by:

Everything was right and timely. Pricing was the best I found. Will be doing bussines with this company again.

by:

everything went according to plan.
parts
fit perfectly no problem.
my enclosed trailer weighs around 7000 lb.
I have a lawn care co. and do a lot of driving with it and
its tremendous stopping power pulled me out of a jam several times
I had already put Titan disk brakes on my trailer 3 years ago
and I had no problem with the installation.
no problem with maintenance
or the operation , the brakes work much better than electric brakes
that I would recommend them to anyone that runs a trailer all the time
to consider retro fitting their trailer with these.

by:

Robust and well machined, this kit is an excellent option for trailering. Finding where the best clearance for optimal slide bolt removal is should be done in the dry fitting stage. Looks great and was easy to get up and running

by:

Brakes are great. They performed well in 2019 and due to cancellations are getting 2020 off

  • Will Dexter Premier Disc Brake Kit Fit Calkins Tandem Axle Boat Trailer
Hey Jay! Replacement calipers can be tricky, especially with some of the older brands that are no longer around. Assuming all of that information is correct, the Dexter Premier Disc Brake Kit # T2HRCM10DAC will fit and work well as a replacement. The main thing is making sure the bearings/spindle match so the rotors will fit. You also checked the brake flange which lines up with your standard 3,500 lb 4-bolt brake flange pattern so you're all set. Any big plans with your boat this summer?

The Dexter DX7.5 Drop-N-Go Brake Actuator # 099-175-20 is a direct replacement for your Tie Down model 70E disc brake actuator with a 7000 lb capacity (Tie Down was bought out by Dexter back in 2017). Although I don't have a way of decoding your VIN, you should be able to call Load Rite and provide them with your VIN - they will be able to tell you exactly what kind of axle is on your trailer. If you can get back to me with your exact axle capacity and wheel bolt pattern, I will be happy...

Hi Steve; based on my research it looks like you have a 3,500 lb axle and it came with a hub/rotor for UFP disk brakes. We don't have an exact parts list so I recommend verifying this information to be sure. You can check your axle tag for a serial number or pull your hubs and bearings to identify them. Assuming that is correct, you can use the Dexter 10" Hub-and-Rotor Assembly # K08-435-05 you were looking at as a replacement. You will also need the # BK2-100 bearing kit. I have attached...

  • Will 12" Wheels Fit Disc Brakes on Trailer
The only way you're getting a 12" wheel like # AM20153 on there is if you have a 2,000 lb axle and an 8" hub/rotor like the # KOD27FR. More than likely you have a 10" hub/rotor with a 3,500 lb axle. If that is the case, it will still depend on the style and brand of disc brakes that you have. For example, the Kodiak # KOD67FR can fit a 13" wheel like the # AM20245. The Dexter # T2HRCM10DAC works with 14" and 15" wheels. The Kodiak # K2R35D with a slip-on rotor also only works with 14"...

Okay, so there's a number of things you'll need to convert your Keystone travel trailer from drum to disc brakes, and I'll detail how to determine that. You'll need a hub and rotor disc brake kit, though we don't have a way of knowing specifically what hub you have. It is also worth noting that you should not mix brands so more than likely you need a complete kit. To find a replacement hub you need to know what bearings are used on your trailer. You...
