Flexible Rubber Brake Hoses

Kodiak brake hoses are made of rubber, making them a practical choice for a variety of applications. Because you can easily bend them, rubber hoses are simpler to work with than rigid stainless steel brake lines. This flexibility makes rubber hoses great for use with foldaway trailer tongues because they are less likely to kink or break when bent. In addition, rubber hoses allow for a wide range of motion so articulating parts can effectively function. These qualities make rubber hoses better suited than steel lines for trailers with torsion axle suspension systems and trailers that have disc brakes.

Stainless steel brake lines have braided exteriors, which can not only wear against exterior surfaces, but also against the interior lining of the hose if dirt gets underneath the steel braid. And if the braid on a stainless steel line tears, it can cut into the hose lining. The exterior surface of these hoses is solid rubber, so there are no crevices for debris to enter.

Durable Fittings with Deep Threads

Kodiak Hose Flare

Kodiak brake hoses have corrosion-resistant brass fittings with stainless steel flares. These fittings have a gap built into them that allows room for a line wrench - also called a flare nut wrench - to slide over the line and down to the nut. This type of wrench grips the nut better than a standard open-ended wrench so there is less chance of stripping the threads as you tighten down the nut.

The stainless steel that is used to create the flares on these hoses is stronger than brass. As a result, these fittings are more durable than ones made entirely of brass. The stainless flares are primarily designed to keep the fittings from splitting when you tighten them down, but they offer absolute rust protection as well.

Kodiak's fittings have deeper threads than many other fittings on the market to provide a higher thread engagement. Deeper threads offer an advantage when used with fittings that have the same thread depth. These Kodiak fittings will work with most fittings on the market, but when they're used with other Kodiak fittings, the result is a stronger connection with fewer leaks.

I sold the trailer after rebuilding it cause I ended up selling my boat without the trailer. The fellow that bought it said the brakes were fine for the trip home but he never put his boat on the trailer. So I can’t really say anything else about the product.

by:

Well, I’m pretty sure the consensus here would be to totally replace this Titan model 60 brake master cylinder that is in a friend’s boat trailer. I already ordered the new master cylinder from etrailer and about to install it. This old master cylinder is nothing more than a lack of proper maintenance. As a result, I am replacing EVERYTHING from this point and back to the calipers, including NEW CALIPERS and NEW BRAKE LINES . Proper maintenance would have totally alleviated this issue (and it is not my friend’s fault whatsoever because he just recently purchased this boat and trailer). I will post a pic of the install once finished. God Bless.

by:

the kodiak brake line kit was as expected nice to run with good brake fittings, a lot better than bending metal brake lines and flaring ends, the hard part was bleeding them. had to purchase a 60 dollar brake bleeding kit and get good help.with a brand new actuator and lines and brakes lots of hard work bleeding brakes.

by:

I ordered this kit to replace my boat trailer brake lines that have aged. I was unable to find flexible lines locally. The hoses appear to be very well made. The double flared ends are not only stainless, but low carbon stainless because there is no attraction to a magnet. The mfg date is also printed on each hose, so you can be sure you are not getting hoses that have been setting on a shelf for years. It was shipped quickly and arrived quickly even with economy shipping. George kept me informed of the package progress and sent a followup email when notification was received that it had been delivered.

by:

Nice set of replacement brake hoses. A must have to any trailer with hydraulic brakes.

by:

Parts were good if I got em all the first time but they left out a brake line (part of a kit) left out lug nuts (part of another kit) got damaged wheel bearings cause the way they package em and a damaged seal for the same reason the way they handled it on the phone was alright after waiting a week for original order it took another week to get the parts they forgot and I received damaged (didn’t include new bearings ) then they sent the wrong size lug nuts ????

Easy, fast update for a trailer.

by:

Easy install. Would recommend a bleeding kit to properly bleed brake lines.

by:

EVERY THING WAS A DIRECT FIT! GOOD QUALITY AND FAST SHIPPING.

by:

The order worked great to match up with the new disk brakes for my boat trailer. To point out (I had to learn the hard way) be sure if you upgrade that your brake line will work, it will save you a headache.

by:

Easy to assemble and good price.

by:

Here are my pics of my trailer brake system refurbishment.

by:

Very easy to install. I went from no brakes to great breaks. The only thing I had to do was add a brake flange to my all aluminum axle. I made the flanges from 1/4 6x6 aluminum plates. Then took my axle off the trailer. I assembled the hubs and disc on the axle. This put everything inline for welding. Then took it to a weld shop and had the franges welded to the axle. Put it back on trailer hooked up the brake line. Blead the lines and all good.

After a year I have many trips on my new brake setup. Still works well.

by:

I am reviewing the components and etrailer as they are not installed yet. Online ordering was easy - I was contacted immediately with shipping time and tracking numbers - it all went really well. The components showed up on time and in good condition. The boxes were a little hammered but UPS does that. Thanks etrailer good service - good prices: what else do you want?

Really well! If one uses some kind of salt rinse the components remain free of corrosion and looking good. Everything assembled as it should and worked flawless from the start. The brakes are rock solid and do a great job of stopping my 3800# boat and trailer. I use the Dexter ElectHyd unit with the Direct link brake controller and it performs beyond my expectations...

by:

I own a 25-year-old dual axle flatbed trailer that I use to haul a car behind my motorhome. It had surge brakes when I purchased it. Perhaps not unexpected, the brakes and the actuator rusted and needed to be replaced. The website of etrailer provided exactly the solution I needed; actuators, brake assemblies and hydraulic lines. Each were as advertised and the replacement was straightforward. I anticipate that I am in a good place for another 25 years of service from this trailer. I recommend etrailer without reservation.

by:

The trailer brakes are working great!

by:

The Installation was easy. Everything fit perfectly and the brakes are working well. I only wish I had made the conversion from drum brakes years earlier.

Still great - no problems

by:

Good deal and delivery was on time

by:

Product was easy to assemble. I had ordered this after I had ordered a 15ft kit ….too short. The one issue was that the short brake line in this kit came with a female coupling on one end. Luckily I had a previous order that contained a male coupling on both ends. I did not drill holes in the trailer to mount the lines as holes provide starting points for corrosion. I used large zip strips with hose mounting clips….worked great. I also shrouded line with rubber hose where I thought there could be wear.

by:

Very high quality lines. The clamps were a bit too big and should be stainless steel for a boat trailer. No fastening hardware was included.

by:

After one year they’re holding up great! They’re the best option for boat trailers, used them to replace corroded metal lines.

by:

I have not installed it yet, but it is clearly a very sturdy and durable kit.
I will use it to replace my 10-year-old original brake lines that are still working but as I am replacing the whole brake system, I mean to do it from A to Z. Clearly it is better quality than the original ones, so I presume it will last longer.
One of the connections came without the regular cap for protection, but the package was so well done that it looks perfect. I am not concerned.
Great product, high quality.

by:

Brake lines are high quality. Good flexibility. Easy to install. The metal tubing at the fittings is 3/16 tubing and appears to be stainless nice, to prevent rusting out. I installed inside of trailer tubing and used existing holes to bring it out to the calipers for a very clean and protected installation.

by:

Replaced all the steel and rubber lines on my boat trailer. Perfect! Couldn't ask for better.

  • Recommended Hydraulic Brake Line Kit for Tandem Axle Trailer that Only Has Brakes on One Axle
Since your tandem axle trailer only has brakes on one of the axles, you will just need a single axle kit like the Kodiak Hydraulic Brake Line Kit # 18SI-BLKIT you were looking at. This kit includes an 18 foot, 7 foot and 1-1/2 foot long flexible brake line along with a tee fitting and loom clamps. I have attached a short video review on this product so you can see exactly what all is included.

  • Swapping Fittings on Disc Brake Caliper for Better Clearance
I checked with my technical contact at Kodiak about swapping out the brake line and bleeder fittings on your calipers (I realize that they may not be the Kodiak brand but they are a great technical resource). My contact said that this is permissible on their brakes since both of these fittings ultimately connect to the same fluid reservoir. But you have to make sure that the bleeder screw used to bleed the brakes is the higher one (if there is more than one bleeder screw).

  • Replacement Titan Model 6 Actuator and Brake Line Kit Recommendation for Trailer
If as many parts of the coupler need replacing that you mentioned I would recommend just replacing the whole thing. It will save you the hassle of rebuilding the coupler and will give you all new components. The part # T4747210 would be a great choice as it is basically exactly what you have. For a single axle brake line kit the part # 18SI-BLKIT would work well.

  • Does the Kodiak Hydraulic Brake Line Kit Come with Hardware
The Kodiak Hydraulic Brake Line Kit part # 18SI-BLKIT doesn't come with hardware for the liner holders. The reason for this is that the exact hardware you need will vary by application and preference. In most cases, self-tapping screws will be best but other times you may want to drill and bolt the line in place. If you want to pick up some self-tapping screws with the line kit I recommend the Self-Tapping Screw part # FA1131822.

  • Recommended Brake Line Kit for Single Axle Boat Trailer
Brake lines don't have to be difficult to run. I recommend the Kodiak Hydraulic Brake Line Kit - Single Axle - 18' # 18SI-BLKIT. So you will run a line from your master cylinder down one side of your boat trailer frame to the tee fitting. Then you will use the short line to the close brake assembly and then run the other across the width of the frame to...
