Features to know about

Fully Sealed and Corrosion Resistant

This Demco DA75 actuator is built for life around water. Its zinc plated body resists corrosion, and the master cylinder uses a diaphragm cap and a bellows boot on the push rod to keep moisture out. A raised fill plate helps block contaminants when you remove the cap, and tie loops on the cap let you tether it for a tamper proof seal. Available in zinc, black, or primed finishes.

EZ Latch Coupler

The EZ Latch coupler drops onto a 2" hitch ball and clicks shut on its own, even if the latch is already closed. You don't need to hold the handle while you work the jack or line up the ball. That keeps fingers out of the pinch zone and makes it faster to hook up by yourself. After it clicks, give it a firm tug to confirm the catch, then add a coupler lock (sold separately) to help deter theft while you're away.

Breakaway Status at a Glance

The color coded decal on the emergency lever shows red when the breakaway is engaged and green when it's released, so you can spot a tripped system before you tow. Bear in mind, this isn't a parking brake. If you're on a slope, use wheel chocks and your truck's parking brake to keep your trailer from rolling.

Smooth, Controlled Braking

Inside the actuator, a spring-loaded push rod controls line pressure while an integrated dampener reduces impact shock. That gives you more predictable braking even when your load shifts or weight fluctuates.

I received the actuator but can not find installation instructions in the box or on line. I think I am smart enough to get the old actuator off and the new one installed but it would be nice to have an instruction manual. It seems strange that you would send instructions to install the manual lock out kit but not the actuator itself.

  • Can I Back Up With The DA75 Demco Brake Actuator DM33CV?
Great question, Hannah, and welcome to the world of boating and trailering! Since the Demco Disc Brake Actuator # DM33CV doesn’t include a lockout, you’ll want to add Demco Manual Lock Out Kit # DM93CV if you want to prevent the brakes from engaging when backing up. If you don't do it, and you try to reverse the trailer, the brakes may be actuated and the trailer wheels will lock up which is no fun on the boat ramp! The lockout is super easy to install by hand, and you won't need to do...

  • Can I Use DOT 5 Brake Fluid Or Stick To DOT 3 Or DOT 4 On Demco Brake Actuators?
Good question Lee. Most people don't think about fluid compatibility, but it's important. Demco actuators like the DA75 Trailer Brake Actuator - Zinc - Disc # DM33CV are technically compatible with DOT 5 fluid, but only when it's new. It CANNOT be mixed with other fluids since it's a silicone-based fluid. It's best to stick with standard DOT 3 or DOT 4, both of which are compatible with the internal seals and materials and can be mixed together. These can be found at any auto parts store...

  • Demco DA75 Disc Brake Actuator For Tandem Trailer With Kodiak Disc Brakes
Yes it will, Belinda. As long as your total loaded trailer weight stays under 7,500 lbs, the DA75 Demco Disc Brake Actuator # DM33CV can absolutely support tandem axle disc brakes. Just make sure the brake lines and calipers are in good condition, and consider a reverse lockout if you back up often. I would definitely add the Demco Manual Lock Out Kit # DM93CV so that you can backup with the brakes locking up. Also, our customers have had very good luck using the Demco hydraulic actuators...

  • Will DA75 Demco 3" by 2.5" Brake Actuator Fit 3" by 4" Trailer Tongue?
Hey there Lorna. Yes, the Demco Drum Brake Actuator # DM28CV or Demco Brake Actuator Disc # DM33CV will 100% fit your 3" wide 4" tall trailer tongue. Even though the actuator says 3" wide and 2-1/2" tall, it will work because it fits width wise, and the taller tongue won't negatively affect it in any way. Install process will still be the same, you just may need to drill new bolt holes depending on your current setup. What trailer and actuator do you currently have?

  • What Bolts And Hardware Do I Need To Install DA75 Demco Brake Actuator DM33CV
Dan, you’ll want to use 1/2" x 4-1/2" Grade-5 or higher for a secure mount. They aren't included, but you can find them at any hardware store. The mounting holes on the Demco DA75 Brake Actuator # DM33CV are standard size for bolt-on installs, and torque to spec per the included instructions, which I've also attached here for you. The torque specs for these bolts are 75 ft lbs.

  • Replacement Disc Brake Actuator For Boat Trailer Weighing 5,000lbs In Salty Climate
Yes it will, Jim. The zinc-plated housing on the DA75 Demco Disc Brake Actuator # DM33CV is specifically designed for marine use, and it holds up well in salt. Just rinse after launching, and it should last you a long time. It's also rated for 7,500lbs which is more than enough for your setup. I was actually just in Naples, FL for vacation earlier this month. I was basically in your neighborhood!

  • Which Paint Or Rust-Preventative Coating Is Used On DA75 Demco DM28CV And DM33CV?
Good question, Carla. This version is zinc-plated only, without a secondary powder coat layer. That zinc finish is strong on its own and helps prevent corrosion, especially in freshwater or light salt environments. Most brake actuators are either raw steel, powdercoated, or zinc-plated. Zinc-plated is typically what people prefer if they live near water or live in harsh conditions with salty roads in the winter. For that reason, I'd stick with Demco DA75 Trailer Brake Actuator - Zinc...

  • Do I Need Different Master Cylinder When Upgrading To Disc Brakes? Demco DA75 Brake Actuator
Audrey, this unit # DM33CV is factory-set up for disc brakes with the higher-pressure master cylinder already installed. So you’re good to go, no upgrades needed. Just make sure your lines are in good shape and you have some spare Dot 3 or Dot 4 fluid handy! You'll love the disc brake upgrade; you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner! Did you have a reverse lockout kit on your old one?

  • Can I Add DM93CV Lockout Pin To The DA75 Demco Brake Actuator?
You can, Ted! While it doesn't come with one installed, the Demco DA75 Trailer Brake Actuator - Zinc - Disc # DM33CV is compatible with Demco’s manual lockout kit, part # DM93CV. That’ll give you a pin-style mechanical lockout so your brakes don’t engage while reversing, even without wiring up a solenoid. You don't even need tools to install it. :) What are you planning to install it on? Did you just get a new boat and trailer?

  • Is There A Brake Actuator That Works With Disc Brakes On AlumaCraft Boat Trailer?
Jeremy, you’re spot on. The new Demco DA75 # DM33CV is a great fit for that setup; it’s designed for a 3 inch channel tongue, uses a 2 inch ball, and is rated for up to 7,500 lbs GTW. Plus, its zinc finish holds up really well in freshwater and saltwater environments, perfect for your Alumcraft boat trailer. Just be sure your brakes are truly disc brakes and not drum, it won't work with drum setups. Disc requires higher pressure. If you aren't sure, send me a photo of your brakes and...

  • Coupler Lock that Fits Head of Demco EZ Latch Actuator DA75
Hey Michael, we actually have a coupler lock from InfiniteRule that was designed to fit the cast heads of the Demco DA75 actuators like the part # DM33CV with the part # IR66FR. This is the correct length pin to fit the head of the DA75 and prevent the latch from being opened. This also will allow you to lock the coupler to your hitch ball when parked as well.
