When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the hydraulic actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward, once your tow vehicle starts to slow down. When this happens, the actuator contracts, applying force to its master cylinder. This in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage your trailer's brakes.
This coupler features a simple-to-use latching mechanism known as the EZ-Latch. With this mechanism, hooking up is as easy as dropping the coupler over your trailer hitch ball. The latch does not need to be tugged or manually activated to allow the ball into the coupler socket, nor does it have to be secured in place. Just make sure that the coupler is properly lined up with the ball when you lower it, and the rest is automatic. Disengaging the coupler is just as effortless. Simply lift up the handle and the coupler socket will automatically release its grip on the ball.
The contoured, low-profile design of the latch handle helps protect the coupler from damage by allowing any potential hazards - from debris on the road to your ball mount backing into the coupler - to simply slide over the top. This helps prevent anything from getting under the latch handle and releasing the ball, and it can also limit any damage to the coupler should an impact occur
Unlike most couplers, which have a pin hole on the handle latch, the EZ-Latch coupler features a hole on the side of the coupler itself. Inserting a coupler lock through this hole will keep the latch from lifting, preventing disconnect and theft.
Electric Reverse Lockout
The electric reverse lockout on this trailer brake actuator is automatically activated when you shift your tow vehicle into reverse. The solenoid wires into your trailer connector - which connects to your tow vehicle - so that it can detect when you are in reverse. When your vehicle is in reverse, the solenoid ensures that the hydraulic actuator does not activate your trailer's brakes, thus allowing you to back up your rig. To use the lockout feature, you must have a 5-pole flat, 6-way round, or 7-pole trailer connector.

Made of sturdy steel, this hydraulic trailer brake actuator features a durable zinc coating that is designed to limit rust and corrosion. This zinc coat has a 120-hour salt spray rating. In addition, the composite master cylinder is made of corrosion-resistant glass-reinforced nylon to further ensure durability.

this is the best product it's so easy to use!just lower the hitch and it locks in and is also easy to unhitch, no binding. I would highly recommend this actuator.
Best brake actuator I have ever used. Had issues with my brake line fitting up to the actuator and George J helped me trouble shoot the problem and got it resolved in no time. Best price, best product and superior support staff. I would not hesitate to purchase any product from them at all and will definitely use them in the future for all my trailer needs.
Nice replacement for old out of date surge coupler. Fast shipping, and everything seems to work like it should. Wish that etrailer would include the factory Demco install manual, but was able to find it on the web.
This actuator works great with the brakes and love the easy “click” hookup. Would highly recommended

This actuator works great! Really easy to connect and disconnect it. I highly putting this on your boat trailer.
The whole staff at etrailer bent over backwards to make sure I was satisfied with the installation of brakes on my trailer. Have made several purchases from them always satisfied with parts and service. Special credit to Jamie great to deal with. Answered all my questions and was very knowledgeable.
After spending a long time on the phone with etrailer sending Pictures, they told me this is what I needed. Well Ordered and didn't have time right away to install, since it was snowing. This wasn't even close. Wasted couple hundert bucks on the wrong part.
Fits perfectly. Easy to install. An excellent replacement.
I recently replaced my old actuator. Price and delivery was very good. after the install we went to bleed the brakes and the master cylinder was defective. Called Demco and they immediately knew the issue because they have been having problems.They shipped a replacement master cylinder to be installed by us. Good customer service by Demco but caused labor costs to be more than double original estimate.
I received the actuator and unfortunately the master cylinder appears to be defective and I could not get it to pump any fluid at all. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong with the install (although we're dealing with simple physics)and called etrailers but they had nothing to add. To etrailers credit, they are to send me another unit via express tomorrow (no shipments on Sunday). Will post an update on the new unit.
Excellent support from Nicole in helping me confirm availability of all my material needs for my boat trailer brake upgrade from Drum to Disk. Have not actually done the install but parts arrived a day early and look to be high quality. This actuator is a perfect fit to replace my old drum brake surge actuator. Thanks Nicole!!
The videos really helped convince me the Demco was the one to buy. Came on time. Is exactly what I expected. Nice hitch. MUCH better design than the old actuator hitch, which had become disfunctional.
It was delivered very quickly and on my doorstep. I bought this to put on a Tow Dolly I purchased to pull my car behind my motorhome. The surge brake will make it much safer going through the mountains on my way south. I also feel the price was great.
I guess I didn’t read enough, I wanted an actuator that did both drum and disc. Now just ordered a disc brake kit which is what I wanted just not now, but I know I’m better off that it’ll be done all at once.
SO far so good the unit showed up very quickly and I like the self locking unit. It should have keeper pin included with it other than that I like the design.

Hit brakes trailer stops. That's what I want it to do and that's what it does.
Excellent quality. I had to drill an extra hole for mounting, no problem. No manual for bleeding or parts breakdown was included so I downloaded the manual from Demco website.
Product was exactly as advertised. Shipping date kept getting pushed back and the item arrived much later than anticipated.
This actuator has great features at an exceptional price. Also, it's proudly made in the USA!
Excellent service as usual. The part was on backorder just like everything else. They were in constantly in contact keeping me updated. Hopefully I'll get to install it after the holiday.

After using this product for a year I will have to say it is still the best product I’ve ever used. I would recommend using it for your own personal use.
