Video Transcript for Reese 5th Wheel Under Bed Rail Kit Installation - 2015 Ford F-250

Today on our 2015 Ford F250 Super Duty we will be installing the Under-Bed Rail and Installation Kit for Reese Elite Series 5th Wheel and Gooseneck Trailer Hitches, part number RP30126. To get our vehicle ready for installation we're going to go ahead and lower the spare tire and remove the rear wheels and tires. Take a flat blade screwdriver, or we have a brake spoon, just get it under here beneath the cap, just pop it loose. You can set it aside. Now I'll go ahead and remove the spare tire. Now our 2015 F250 is set up for this puck style system. You see there's dimples in the bed right here that are locations for the holes that we will be drilling.

They're in the diagram in the instructions, just so you can double check the measurements in between the marks in the bed that comes from the factory. If there is no dimple in the location you can go ahead and mark it using the instructions. In this case we do have our marks here in the bed and we'll use an 1/8" drill bit to start our pilot bit through these four holes, two here on the driver side and then two here on the passenger side. It is a good idea to put gentle pressure on there as the gas tank is on this side so you want to go ahead and be careful when drilling this rear hole. Once you get done, go ahead, check your location underneath to make sure you're not interfering with anything when you go to drill out your bigger hole. We'll go to our passenger side and repeat the same process in drilling out our 1/8" pilot holes.

Before we drill out our 2-3/4" hole for our hitch I'm going to go ahead and take a piece of plywood here, put it up on the frame, just so you have something to drill into underneath. It'll just protect the wire in here and the gas tank underneath our hole when we drill it out. Now we're going to go ahead and take our 2-3/4" hole saw and drill out our holes at each of the four locations. Now we'll go ahead and take a vacuum and clean up our metal shavings. Next we need to loosen up our bed bolts here in the bed of our truck. We can go ahead and lift the side of our truck bed up, prop it up so we can get our rails into place.

It does include a T50 torque inaudible 00:02:44. We'll go ahead and remove the ones here on the passenger side and loosen up the ones on the driver side. Let's go ahead and set that bolt aside. There's four on the passenger side and four on the driver side. We'll remove the two in the middle, then there's one here at the tailgate and then one at the inaudible 00:03:02 by the tap 00:03:04. Again here on the driver side we'll only need to loosen these just so we have some room to tilt our bed up on the passenger side and to get our block into place to give us some room to put our rails in.

We'll go ahead and use an extra set of hands to help us flip the bed up so we can get the block underneath the frame and the bed to give us some working room. If you have a pry bar or a big pipe you can stick underneath here and just pry it up a little bit to give you some leverage to lift it up. Now we can find out if we take something close to a 2 by 4, put it underneath the hat channel and frame and give us enough working room to get our rail in place. So we'll go ahead and take our first rail, slide it in here, up over the frame. Then we can go ahead and scoot it back close here to the hat channel so we can get our second one into position. We'll go ahead and take our second rail, slide that up. You can see this brace here on it, this will go toward the middle on both side. This one will go back, the back rail will go forward here until you see this bracket and it will be up. Now that we have these in place we'll go ahead and lower the bed back down. We do have it supported here just a little bit in the front, we'll go ahead and take that block off the hat channel. Next we need to put our side brackets into place and bolt them to our cross rails. Here on the passenger side, this is the correct bracket. You have two holes here that'll bolt to our cross rails. You see here there's two cut outs. If you hold it into position, you can see that it clears this factory bolt that's in the frame. That hole lines up along with our rear hole. This will be the right one for the passenger side. We'll go ahead and take our 5/8" bolt, feed it through our bracket and into the nut. We'll go ahead, we're going to secure our bolt with a conical tooth washer, we'll slide here into the opening here in our rail and our 5/8" hex nut. Again, feed that over our conical tooth washer, it does line up with our hole underneath. Then we'll go ahead and take our 5/8" by 1-3/4" bolt with a conical tooth washer on it, feed it up here through our side bracket and into our nut. It's a good idea to get an extra set of hands to kind of to help you support this bracket; it is kind of heavy, as we feed it through there, and get it into position. Now I'll go ahead here and repeat the same process, bring in our conical tooth washer and 5/8" nut. Feed it here over this opening, get it lined up with our hole. The hole is inaudible 00:05:58 and put your finger there and wind that up there, it makes it a lot easier. Take our 5/8" bolt, feed it up through the brackets and in to our nut. Now we'll go ahead and go the driver side and repeat the same process. Now that I have our frame brackets attached for our cross rails, we'll go ahead and attach our brackets here to the frame. We'll be using an M14 bolt and conical tooth washer. Make sure the teeth are facing toward the bracket. They'll go into these holes that are lined up here on our side brackets. We'll feed that through, we'll go ahead and put our flange nut here, feed it up on the back side of the frame and thread it on. We'll go ahead and repeat that here for our front mourning location. Now we'll go ahead and go to the driver side and repeat the same process of attaching our side brackets to our frame, using the same hardware. Our cross members here with our openings for our cups are here lined up with our holes. Before we attach the cup with our bolts, we'll go ahead and reattach our bed here. They do have inaudible 00:07:13 cut on them so you do not want to use an impact, you want to go ahead, thread them in by hand starting out and then use a socket. Now go ahead and install our pucks here into our openings. We'll go ahead and take a plastic trim ring that comes with the kit, take a puck, drop that into a position. That aligns up in there. Then we'll go ahead and take our 5/8" blunt head screw that takes the Alan bit and a split lock washer, feed that onto our bolt, down through the puck into our rails. Go ahead and use a 3/8" Alan bit to tighten that down. Once we get that tightened we'll go ahead and repeat the process at the other three locations and then torque it down. Now that I have all our pucks installed and tightened down we can go ahead and torque as indicated in the instructions. Now that we have our pucks tightened and torqued we can go ahead and move to our side brackets and cross rails and tighten and torque those as specified in the instructions. Before we tighten and torque our side rails and side bracket's we're going to go ahead and take our 5th wheel head and put it into our pucks. This will help keep everything aligned when we tighten down our side hardware. Now that we have all of them secure, we can go ahead and twist those into place. Put our pins in to hold them into our pucks. Now we'll go ahead and tighten and torque our side brackets here to our cross rails so it'll be these bolts, so we'll go ahead and use a 15/16" socket on this side. Go ahead and put a 15/16" wrench up here on our rail for both those and tighten down to specifications as indicated in the instructions. Now we go ahead and repeat the same process of tightening these bolts and torquing them on the driver side. Now we're going to go ahead and tighten and torque our bolts that hold our side bracket to the frame of the vehicle. Go ahead and use a 7/8" wrench and a 19mm socket to do that. Now we can go ahead and torque the bolt toward the front of the vehicle. Then we can repeat that process on the driver side. Now that we have everything tightened and torqued we can go ahead and go back to our bed bolts and torque them down. That'll be the final step here for our installation of our rails. Now that everything is tightened and torqued we can go ahead and undo our clips here on the side, open up our handles here to the 5th wheel head and swing the handles open. When not using your 5th wheel you can go ahead and set it out of place. When you're ready to tow just drop it in there, close your handles, everything is nice and secure. Now when we're not towing we can go ahead and take the rubber covers that come with our installation kit, put those over our pucks, give you a nice, flush surface here in the bed to cover those up and keep dust and debris out of those. Now that our installation of our cross rails and side bracket is finished, we can go ahead and reinstall our spare tire and rear wheel tire. Now we can go ahead and lower our truck down onto our wheels and then torque them and reinstall our center caps. Now that we have our 5th wheel head installed, we're ready to hook up our trailer and hit the road. That'll do it for our Under-Bed Rail and Installation Kit for Reese Elite Series 5th Wheel Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Kit, part number RP30126 on our 2015 Ford F250 Super Duty. .

Customer service was excellent. Product was back ordered, but etrailer kept me up to date on the progress and expected shipment date. Package arrive in great condition. Instructions were easy to follow and installation time was about four hours. Removing spare tire makes the installation much easier. 118114

First, your customer service rep was the best. She was extremely helpful and very pleasant. Secondly, the hitch shipped so fast (we were in a hurry for it) so that was very wonderful! We installed the product the same night as we received it, the instruction were very straight forward and made installation easy. And we're now ready to pick up our new fifth wheel. Thanks again for all of your help! These comments also apply to product RP30142 the fifth wheel hitch with wiring harness. 48892

This part was well worth the price as it allowed me to adapt my present 5th wheel hitch to the underbed rail system. I did not have to purchase a new 5th wheel trailer hitch to fit the factory 5th wheel prep option on my Ford F-250 Super Duty. 364207

Etrailer is top notch, excellent customer service. I like the Reese under bed 5th wheel system. It is nice not dealing with rails in the bed. The install took me longer than 4 hours, I found it necessary to block both sides of the bed to get the system in place. It took a little finesse to get the front drivers side bolt in (bracket to the frame bolt). It is above the fuel tank, had to use a long socket extension and sneak the nut in from underneath. The only problems I had were the powder coating was flaking off in spots on the rail system. I had to scrape it down sand off the rust that had already started, prime and paint it. And there were no instructions in the box. 217535

I bought this under mount system because I had the Ford factory system on my last truck so I already owned the receiver. My new truck didn't have the factory option. It all works good together. My only complaint is that the receiver is very heavy to remove from the truck bed. I finally bought a chain hoist that I hang from my garage ceiling that allows me to remove the receiver alone. I also bought a 4 wheel platform that allows me to roll it over to the side of my garage when not in use. I guess heavy duty is a good thing, but my son has a different system which is rated just as high in his F-350 which is a much lighter lift when he wants to clear his truck bed. 242151

My new F350 didn't have the under bed 5th wheel mount and I didn't want to use the rails that bolt across the bed. I bought the Reese under bed parts, Reese adapter, new legs for the hitch and a bed mat and installed it myself. I drilled through the dimples in the bed, bolted in the under bed parts and everything lined up nice. Since I went from a short bed to a long bed I didn't need the slider legs so I replaced them with fixed legs. When the hitch and adapter are out of the bed, nothing is in the way on the floor. I like it. 243481

This turned out just like the factory installed puck system. Instructions were clear, only took a couple hours to install, and works great. The hardest part was getting the holes drilled into the bed of my pickup. 724984

Very satisfied with the 5th wheel kit. Installed it myself in about two hours. I subsequently added the gooseneck kit also. It would have been smarter to do both at the same time. Nevertheless, the product is well engineered and fit my F350 perfectly. 567634

I’m rating this 4 stars only because the box came mostly open and the hardware was missing. ETrailer responded very quickly to my email and followed up with the hardware ASAP. The initial package came early, and the follow up hardware came a few days later. No big deal, since I’m not installing right away. Thanks to Jessica Band George J for making this right. 510063

It works like it's supposed to and quick and easy to remove the hitch with this puck system. Installation was not too bad and I did it myself. I removed the hitch so I could haul some plywood and it was very easy and only took a couple of minutes. Great product ! 488400

The fifth wheel flush mount hitch is great. The biggest problem was the hitch was not shipped on time And it arrived 2 days late. Plus the parts are heavy and it was poorly package and the package arrived busted open and the one frame mounting plate was missing. I needed to have it installed the next day but could not because of the missing part. Contacted etrailer and UPS to try and track down the missing part. Lucky UPS did locate the part the next day. The main issue is that Heavy parts are not packaged adequately. 426222

Great product. And purchased from a great company! The package was pretty beat up when it arrived (one end of the box was hanging completely open). But I doubt etrailer had anything to do with that as it was taped from top to bottom. Most likely it was a shipping and handling issue. But surprisingly, all of the parts were in the box. The one bracket had apparently taken a little impact as a little of the black finish was off, but it's a hitch... so it'll be fine. The hitch install went as described in the instructions. And the installation videos online were a tremendous help. The biggest suggestion I can make... don't expect to install the hitch without lifting the bed. And when removing the bed bolts, expect them to be tight - very tight their entire length. But installation went well and the results look great. Now we just have to wait for some better weather to go camping. Thanks for a great product at a great price. 355930

I cant believe its been a year since I installed the new rails. Having the rails under the bed is the best idea ever brought to the 5th wheel community. If you are wondering which rails to buy - stop debating and buy the under the bed type!

I do have the correct system for you but the Under-Bed Rail and Installation Kit for Reese Elite Series 5th Wheel and Gooseneck Trailer Hitches part # RP30126 will not fit your 2008 Ford F-450. Instead, you will want to use the Under-Bed Rail and Installation Kit for Reese Elite Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches part # RP30073. If you wanted this style of rail in a 2019 Ford F-250 without the factory rail kit you'd have to get the rail kit from a Ford dealer and have them install it. For your 2015 Ford F-250 short bed the Reese Elite rail kit part # RP30126 is the correct kit to use. • Underbed Fifth Wheel Rail Kit that Uses Pucks For 2016 Ford F-250
If you have a Pullrite hitch that is designed to fit their underbed rail kit in the bed of a truck we do not have a solution for you since we do not carry that brand. You'd have to contact Pullrite But for a puck style rail kit by Reese that does fit your 2016 Ford F-250 short bed you'd want the Reese Kit part # RP30126 and the Reese hitch part # RP30144.

  • Underbed 5th Wheel Rail Mounting Systems for a 2017 Ford F-350 4WD With an 8 Foot Bed
Yes, we do have some underbed mounting systems for your 2017 Ford F-350, but unfortunately there are no Reese 5th wheel hitch options rated for 26K. The only Reese hitch that fit with their Under-Bed Rail and Installation Kit # RP30126 was the Reese Elite 18K # RP30142. Neither of which are a fit for your F-350. If you were wanting to stick with the below bed rails we have an option from B&W which is their Underbed Gooseneck Hitch # BWGNRK1116-5W along with the Companion # BWRVK3500-5W...

  • Can Air Lift Air Bags be Installed with Reese Under Bed Kit on a 2016 Ford F-250
The frame brackets for Reese under bed installation kit # RP30126 mount to the outboard sides of the frame rails on your 2016 Ford F-250. This means that any air bag kit that mounts on the inboard sides of the frame rails will work with the under bed kit. So for Air Lift, if your truck is a 4x4 use # AL88396. And if it is 2-wheel drive use # AL88395.

  • Installing Under Bed Rails on a 2015 Ford F-350 With a Spray-On Bed Liner
When installing an Under Bed Rail and Installation Kit, like # RP30126, on the 2015 Ford F-350, the bed does need to be raised on that passenger's side. Raising the bed is the only way of allowing enough clearance to slide the 5th wheel rails between the frame and bed of the truck. Removing the bed mounting bolts is possible even with your spray-on bedliner. Using a T50 Torx bit and a long breaker bar or impact wrench will allow you to break the bed bolt loose. The bolt threads will...

  • Will PullRite SuperGlide Fifth Wheel Hitch Fit Ford F-350 With Factory Rail Kit
It would depend on the model Pullrite Superglide hitch you have. If it uses industry standard rails then you would need an adaptor like part # RP30156. This would lock into the puck system in the bed of the F-350 and allow you to attach the hitch. If you have a hitch that does not use industry standard rails, we do not have a rail kit that would work for you. If your SuperGlide does not use standard rails you may want to order a truck without the factory under bed kit and then contact...

  • How to Lower Nose of Fifth Wheel Trailer When Hitch is as Low as Possible
Typically there are several different sets of holes that can be used to secure the pin box of the trailer to the trailer frame. You should be able to remove the hardware holding the pin box and then reinstall it higher on the trailer frame to allow the trailer to sit level. Otherwise you would need to go with a shorter height fifth wheel hitch or lift the suspension of the trailer. You will want there to be at least 6 inches between the bed rail of the truck and the trailer overhang.

  • Availability of Under-Bed 5th Wheel Rail Kit for 2017 Ram 3500 Cab-and-Chassis
I may have a solution for you, however there is not an under-bed rail kit similar to the Reese Elite # RP30126 that you referenced that will work with your 2017 Ram 3500 cab and chassis model. If you have a flat bed the best option that will give you a similar setup is with the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # BWGNRK1500. This gooseneck hitch is specifically designed for flatbed trucks and serves as both a gooseneck hitch and a rail kit for the B&W Companion Flatbed...

  • Under-Bed 5th Wheel Kit for a 2013 Ford Super Duty
Thank you for sending the pictures. Your truck does not have the under-bed rail kit for the fifth wheel prep package. If you would like to add an under-bed fifth wheel kit to your 2013 Ford Super Duty, you can install the Reese Elite Series Under-Bed Rail Kit, # RP30126. This will provide the 4 pucks in the bed just like the fifth wheel prep package that is offered by Ford. I have attached an installation video for you to check out. For a fifth wheel hitch, you can use the Reese Elite...

  • Is Truck Bed Removal Required to Install the Gooseneck Hitch # RP30138 In UnderBed Rails # RP30126
Not at all, I checked the installation instructions for the Reese Elite Series Under-Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Head Kit # RP30138 and you will not need to remove the bed of your truck to install this hitch in your 2013 Ford Super Duty with the Underbed Rail Kit part # RP30126. You might need to lower the spare while torquing the install hardware, but that's it.

  • Best Fifth Wheel Towing Setup for 2015 Ford F-250 Towing 2016 Forest River Wildcat 29 RLX
Since you listed your pin box model I can give you the best possible fifth wheel towing setup for a short bed truck like your 2015 Ford F-250 with a 6-3/4 foot bed. If you go with a Sidewinder pin box you wouldn't have to ever get out and operate a slider hitch when you approach a parking lot. An added benefit is that you also end up with a trailer that tracks better behind the tow vehicle. For a Sidewinder you would want the part # RP61420 for your 2016 Forest River Wildcat 29 RLX. For...

  • Trailer Chucking when Using a Factory Installed Reese Elite Series 5th Wheel Hitch
King pins used in recreational towing are a standard size. The part that fits in between the jaws should have a diameter of 2 inches. If it is smaller than this you will need to have the king pin replaced. The single wrap around jaw on the Reese Elite Series 26.5k, # RP30871, is one of the most secure connections and chucking with it should be minimal. It sounds like you might be high-hitched. This is when the king pin is not properly in the jaws. Take a look at the instructions I have...

  • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Installation Kit Positions for a 2011 Ford Truck
You are correct. On the 2011 Ford trucks, with the Under-Bed Rail and Installation Kit for Reese Elite Series 5th Wheel and Gooseneck Trailer Hitches, # RP30126, installed, the center line will be over the rear axle. I have included a link to the installation details so you can see the specific measurements involved. On some installation kits, the center of the hitch jaws will be 1 inch in front of the rear axle. On others it will be approximately 1-1/2 inch forward of the rear axles....

  • Best Fifth Wheel/Gooseneck Hitch Setup Recommendation for a 2015 Ford F-350
The best solution for your 2015 Ford F-350 long bed will be a B and W setup as this will allow you to easily tow a fifth wheel trailer or a gooseneck trailer and will give you complete access to the bed of your truck when needed. For the rail kit that doubles as a gooseneck hitch you will need the part # BWGNRK1111-5W and then for the fifth wheel hitch you will want the part # BWRVK3500-5W. This Companion setup is a favorite among most RVers on the road so I would highly recommend it...
