Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's junction box, which is located in your rear cargo area, behind the driver's-side trim panel in the spare tire compartment. You will need to remove any cargo nets and the cargo floor hatch your paneling to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the connector, insert the provided fuse into the vehicle's junction box.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your jack storage compartment.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plug on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Only gripe was that one of the fuses was broken and I didn’t find out until I tested my installation and I was trying to determine why the 4-flat connector didn’t work. So, the lesson learned was to check the fuses before installing them. I’m giving 5 stars because the T-One looks and feels like a quality product and seems to work fine after I replaced the damaged fuse. Furthermore, etrailer made good on the damaged fuse.

My wife and I installed the hitch and wiring today which went kinda smooth. The brackets holding the tail pipes gave me a fit but we had success. Thanks and as always the hitch fit and looks great.

Instructional video online from etrailer was very good. It had more information than the instructions that came with the Tekonsha wiring harness, it was missing hooking up the ground wire. 2018 Acura MDX SH-AWD. I do not tow a trailer very often with this vehicle so I am leaving the pig tail inside and will run it out the rear door when needed.

Just as advertised, easy install and a great overall product, saved me a lot of time trying to figure out what wires to splice and or tap into. Thank you Etrailer for that hook up and great YouTube video that made me buy this product.

Delivery on time with the correct harness and hitch
You may want to check threads in car frame as
I had to tap for bolts to thread. Otherwise
Installation was a breeze.
Only used once but good results so far!.

2015 Acura MDX

I bough a used 2014 Acura MDX that had a receiver hitch the prior owner used to mount a bike rack. I wanted to be able to tow a boat and uhaul trailers, so a hook up for lights was needed. I have hooked up many trailor lights on trailers and autos over the years, this was hands down my best experience. the kit I recieved had really concise directions, all the hardware I needed for connections and I was able to complete the installation in about 15 minutes time. The only difficulty with the installation is my fat fingers dropped that tiny fuse and I couldn't find it. After picking up a replacement it was fine. A year later it still works great. thanks for taking all the thinking out of the chore.

2010 Acura MDX

I received the etrailer hitch about the same as many others - that is, the box had a hole torn in it, but there was no damage to the product. (I'm not sure how this product could be shipped without tearing the box unless the box was double or triple thickness.) I watched the videos a couple times and then set out to install the hitch. I am 69 years old and was doing this alone on my garage floor with the MDX on the garage floor - not jacked up. It would be MUCH easier if you had two people and had the vehicle in the air on a lift to get to things easier. 2 people would make it a 20-30 minute install, however, it took me 1 hour to install the hitch. Used a small floor jack to raise the hitch and two jack stands to hold it in place while I got the bolts started. I didn't have a torque wrench that goes to 139 lbs, but a neighbor did, so solved that issue. The Tekonsha wiring harness was also an easy - 10 minute or less install. Very happy with the products and would recommend to anyone. Hitch fits great and looks good. Now, I just need to buy that utility trailer so I can use the hitch.

Super impressed with the service and timeliness of your organization. Found y’all randomly on google and you are super legit. Helpful website, helpful recs, customer reviews. Customer service great too. Forgot part of my order and it was overnighted, arrived on time. Everything on point. Keep it up.

by:
2010 Acura MDX

Wiring harness shipped was very useful, easy to install; although the advantage is on the vehicle OEM because our MDX was pre-wired and required simple plug-in.
One minor point, the kit came with a 7.5 amp and a 10 amp fuse, but the fuse box on the car map for the trailer reverse and stoplights required a 10 and 20. I was able to use the 10, but had to get my own 20 amp.

2014 Honda Pilot

We purchased a hitch and wiring harness for a new Acura MDX. We had also purchased the same for our Honda Pilot. I came directly back to etrailer when we purchased the new Acura and they were so easy to purchase from and with the fast free shipping you can not go wrong. The hitch was as easy to put on as advertised. Thank you for a great experience! We will be back!!

by:

Everything was as described. Great products!

I installed my hitch myself. The video was great.

For me, It was a tedious balancing act with my floor jack. Recommend placing some sort of hanger that allows one side of hitch to be “hung” from the frame allowing the ability to bolt up the other side using a jack to move into place.

by:

I bought the trailer hitch for a bike rack and the hitch silencer to stop the rattle of my
rack. I added the wiring harness mainly because it was so simple to install and I might need it in the future. In a nut shell, you had every thing I needed at a fair price and excellent quality. My order was shipped and delivered quickly. The videos on you website are the really the icing on the cake. This was not my first purchase from
etrailer and I will always look at your website first when I need something for my vehicles.

by:

We have a 2020 Acura MDX Tech AWD and on our model we did not need the 10 amp fuse no spot for it but other than that the instruction were clear and easy. Maybe took us 10 minutes. We also installed trailer hitch took no more than 30 minutes the hardest part was getting it over rubber grommets. When I use the term “us/we” I supervised my husband may have taken less time without my supervision.

by:
2016 Acura MDX

Excellent equipment and service. Ordered the custom hitch for our 2016 MDX (same frame and connections as 2014-2015 MDX). Easy to install thanks to the instructional videos, less than 30 minutes. Quality is superb and works great. Will be able to tale our bicycles with us on vacations and use cargo trailers. The connections for wiring was also very simple and exactly as shown in the video. Had a hitch for our new MDX with wiring for less than $300, a dealer option would have cost over $800.

Customer service is superb. Had to modify order to include a bracket. Ana held my order and added the bracket and send my order same day.

This is our third hitch from etrailer.com (had one for our previous honda odessey and for Acura RL) and are very satisfied.

by:
2016 Acura MDX

delivery was quick. Trailer hitch was packaged well, good thing since shippers punched two holes in the box. Install took just over an hour for the trailer hitch and about another 15 min for the wiring harness. Wiring harness was easy to install but the diagrams were difficult to read and I wasn't sure if it needed two fuses or just the one 7.5 that came with it...less than 300 dollars and two hours time for what the dealer wanted 1200 for.

by:
2016 Acura MDX

The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector is the easiest harness I have ever used. In all fairness, the Acura MDX with it's pre-wired connector and separate fusebox simply make the job that much easier. The harness from E-trailer is really good quailty. I honestly completed the job is less than 5 minutes!

The instructions were OK, but I also utilized their videos to get a little better insight on the job. The E-trailer website and ordering process was a breeze and the package even arrived a day early. Would have ordered from [site] but they are beginning to get so many knock offs, I decided to go with e-trailer so I would get the "real" thing.

It was quite a surprise to see that the Draw Tite Class III hitch that I purchased a few days ago, along with the wiring harness, arrived four days ahead of schedule. With the pandemic and problems with mail, this was amazing. All arrived in good condition.

Chad was also amazing as he was very easy to speak to; he listened to what I needed and gave great support. The order that I placed with him was easy and quick. Chad also let me know that I can always reach out to him if I had any questions or concerns.
I am pleased with the product and will have it installed next week. Thank you so much, Chad for your support and for reaching out to me if I needed anything.

E trailer is a great place to get your trailer hitch. I will be ordering from you again very soon. Christine R

  • Adding a 7-Way Trailer Connector and Brake Controller to a 2015 Acura MDX
For many vehicles, including your 2015 Acura MDX, there isn't a plug and play type of 7-Way trailer connector so one has to be hardwired in. This is because on those vehicles the vehicle itself is not set up for a 7-Way trailer connector. To add one you would first need to install a 4-Way which will provide the light functions for the trailer. For your MDX you can use # 118628 to add the 4-Way. Then to add the 7-Way you will need # ETBC7. The 4-Way will plug into the ETBC7 leaving 4 wires...

I would highly recommend you get a Strait Line for your setup # RP66082 for the best overall towing experience. Since your 2020 Acura MDX has the factory 7-way all you'd need to install the Curt Echo Mobile # C51180 is the controller itself and you'd be set.

I do see the Receiver # C13146 and 4-Way # 118628 you got from us for your 2020 Acura MDX. Depending on if you got a 7-way like our Kit # ETBC7 which includes the wiring needed for a charge line or just an Adapter # 37185 will decide what all you need to use the Curt Echo # C51180. If you only have the Adapter # 37185 you are going to need enough 10 Gauge Wire # DW02508-1(sold by foot) to run from the battery to the 7-way, Circuit Breaker # 9510, two Ring Terminals # DW05740-1 for connecting...

Now if your trailer does not have brakes all you would need is the part # 37185 as an adapter to convert the 4-way to a 7-way.
