2006 Honda Element

Works great for my 2006 Honda Element, and video was incredibly helpful. Wish the green wire (for running to right turn signal) was longer; had to splice another wire on to extend it. Otherwise perfect, and a great value!

Quick shipping! Helpful customer service rep on the phone. Installed everything myself (lucky me I had an auto lift to use), bought a 4x8 flatbed trailer on craigslist, and pulled a piano, desk and other furniture about 250 miles with my 1997 Toyota Corolla. Thanks a bunch for the great product!

Works fantastic, all solid state and well sealed. Resilient to moisture. Easy to Install if you are mechanically inclined. A must have if you are installing a trailer wire harness on a vehicle that has a separate brake light circuit from the the turn signal light circuit.

Mitsubishi Montero Sport

I needed a hard-to-find hitch for my '98 Montero, overnight, no less. I ordered this part along with a harness from etrailer with overnight shipping. I don't live at the end of the world, but you can see it from here, so I wasn't optimistic about everything arriving on time for my trip. Shortly after the order was placed I received emails from etrailer's staff indicating the part wasn't at their main warehouse and would have to be sourced from another. They updated me throughout the day and the following morning. The parts arrived early afternoon. Installation took little time at all with their helpful wiring harness install video. Great thanks to George J, Bridget A and Madison H and others for seeing this through.

Have ordered trailer parts from etrailer in the past for my trailers and such. Now that one of my boys has a trailer of his own we looked to etrailer to outfit his car with a hitch and harness. Have never been disappointed.

Throughout our order, etrailer kept us up to date on it's packing and shipment of the products we ordered, including the tracking number. We received our order quickly (about six days). We ordered the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" - 75089, and the Upgraded Circuit Protected Tail Light Converter Hardwire Kit w/ 4-Pole Connector and Circuit Tester - 119178KIT for our 1997 Mercury Villager, an older van with a lot of life still left in it. Both arrived in excellent condition. The next day I installed both items. The Trailer Hitch Receiver took me about an hour. The only problem was getting it angled so I could slip it over the tail pipe, but once up it fit perfectly. Bolts went in nicely, though the space is a bit tight for the tools I owned to tighten them. Still, there was no problem patience did not solve. The video instructions were excellent, and the paper instructions helped me see what direction the washers should go. For the Protected Tail Light Converter Hardwire Kit, the video instructions were invaluable. Though I used the tester to be sure, the wiring descriptions and placement were on the money. There were a couple minor issues that were easy to correct. The green wire that goes to the right turn signal is a bit short. Though I could not attach it to the wiring by the connector, there was no problem cutting off the lower wrap and attaching it to the proper wire at the bottom of the bundle. When I hooked it up to my trailer for a test, the break lights did not work. I took off the splice connector for the break wire, and when I did the clip broke. The metal bar that should have cut through the wire jacket did not cut all the way through. However, the kit comes with a spare splice clip. I installed the new clip in the same spot as the old and perfection! I was set. The trailer hitch receiver was a bit heavy, but as long as you can lift some weight on your back there should be no problem (I work a desk job, get little exercise and I am close to 60). I am extremely pleased with the whole experience. The quality appears excellent and I saved $200 to 300 dollars I would have spent at UHaul. That's money I can now use for some fun in our boat!

Easy to install. Mentioned instructions, though, and none were included. Not sure, for e.g., the purpose of the adhesive pad. Also would be helpful if a wiring diagram of vehicle the kit is intended for would be included, but maybe not practical if this kit is designed to fit several vehicles...

Dodge

I just installed my trailer wiring harness I purchased from etrailer.com For the do it yourselfer that can trace and figure out which wires are needed to splice into, it is a very good kit. I chose to solder my connections instead of using the supplied crimp connectors. I've seen these connectors corrode after a few years and then you have to eliminate it and fix the connection. Also, I chose to attach the converter to the frame with a heavy duty tie strap instead of using the adhesive pad that is attache to it. The only other thing I might suggest is a self drilling screw to attacht the ground wire. Having said all that, I would highly recommend this Kit. It saved me between $400 and $900 dollars according to the horror stories I've read online. You Guys need to get this product out there, maybe go to some Dodge forums. Good Job.

2007 Kia Sportage

Installation went Just about as I expected. Working alone it took me about 1 1/2 hours, not counting the wiring harness ( 62 year old guy). I installed one of your hitches several years ago so I knew about what to do. The video was a big help. The only tools needed were a ratchet, screw driver, ramps, and a can of WD40. I left one of the 3 rubber exhaust supports (hangers) in place. It gave some support to the muffler so the pipe wouldn't bend, but everything dropped down low enough slide the hitch into place. 2007 Kia Sportage w/ single exhaust.

This converter works very well. The harness is arranged in such a way as to be run with the converter on the left side of the car, with the wires being spliced at the tail lights. I ended up mounting the converter on the right side of the car, and running the wires through the grommet and into the car, making the connections in the trunk.

2007 Toyota Avalon

The 2 stars are for the lack of ANY correct instructions ( none were in the package, so i relied on the videos published by etrailer) for my 2006 Toyota Avalon . Once i determined the proper hookup the unit itself seems fine . The closest instruction i could find was the video for the 2007 Toyota Avalon . i used it for the instructions. Turns out, it is not correct for the 2006. After several hours of volt and ohm meter readings and swapping cars to verify that my trailer harness wiring was OK , i noticed that the low side of the bulbs for the rear lights were not attached anywhere to a car chassis ground. Then i determined that the white ground wire and lug( car side wiring of the unit) for the 119178 was NOT to be attached to the car chassis ground but to a low side wire in the wiring harness( black and white). Everything worked fine with that correction. I also found the note attached to the red wire confusing as it had different attachment instructions that depended on whether one was using a 2 wire or 3 wire system. Again no description to help me tell what system i had( 3 wire). Instructions and or a schematic would have raised my evaluation to 4 stars( 5 stars being reserved for longtime reliability).

I would not say this was an "easy" install, but for the significant savings in cost of an OEM harness it was worth it. The OEM harness had to be installed by running from front to back under the drivers so the time involved may be a wash. Buyers need to understand this unit must be installed by tapping into the existing rear lights by opening up the driver and passenger side panels in the rear compartment (next to the spare tire wheel well). If you do not want to mount the "harness box" inside the spare tire compartment, there is a great place behind the driver side panel, however, you will have to lengthen the right turn signal wire (green) to reach the right light. I ran the 4 plug trailer harness through the license plate rubber plug by cutting a slit in the plug and running the 4 wire set through it. The bumper will have to be removed (don't have to take off bumper cover) by removing the 2 screws on each side of the bumper. Depending on how you route the harness through the metal bumper frame that is now exposed, and how long of a tag end you want, you may have to lengthen the 4 wire set with a splice, I did. You may be able to avoid any splice by mounting in the spare tire compartment. Trailer lights are bright, no dimming at all.

Toyota Yaris

The new hitch arrived today, everything was in the box that I ordered. Very Very nice product. I must admit I was kind of expecting a cheap looking hitch. But this is first class stuff. I'll be using it on my Yaris shortly. Rather than spend a bunch of money on a pickup truck. A 4 x 8 trailer will be hauling my home repair products from now on. Also, I will be coming back to "etrailer" for a bike rack to fit the new hitch. I highly recommend "etrailer", with the on-line assistance and very nice products. You can't beat the price either. The local uhaul wanted double the money I spent at "etrailer" to install the hitch and wire it. It took me 25 minutes to install the hitch and about an hour to wire it. (lot's of plastic to remove and reinstall) Thanks again guys......Happy Customer.

Easily installed in my Hyundai Elantra hatchback. The tester is paramount to this device. After installing make sure you test the actual hitch connector to make sure everything is working before you put all the car back together. My running lights did not have a solid connection, but luckily the kit came with an extra quick splicer, so it was easily slipped in. Everything appears to be working good. The installation video on a similar car was a huge help.

Everything was perfect from start to finish. Received delivery promptly and installation completed in an hour and a half including wiring. Only things I recommend is installation instructions for wiring kit and better quality scotch lock connectors. I am an ASE Master Technician with 40 years experience so installing the wiring w/o instructions is not an issue. Others may benefit from an instruction sheet. Overall 5 star experience.
