No need to spend time packing bearings or wrestling with seals. The Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 3,500-lb E-Z Lube axles comes pre-greased and ready to install. The inner bearing (L68149) and outer bearing (L44649), along with their races, seal, grease cap, wheel bolts, and lug nuts, are already in place. Just slide it onto your #84 spindle, torque the 1/2" wheel studs, and you’re set. Each hub is rated for 1,750 lbs, built to handle steady use without messy prep work.
Greasing bearings doesn’t have to mean taking everything apart. The included E-Z Lube-compatible grease cap has a rubber plug that gives you direct access to the zerk fitting on your spindle. Attach your grease gun and the grease flows through to both the inner and outer bearings. It saves time, keeps your hands clean, and helps prevent corrosion by letting you keep bearings lubricated without disassembly.
This idler hub kit takes the guesswork out of replacement or upgrades. It comes complete with all the right parts—bearings, races, seal, grease cap, bolts, and lug nuts—so you don’t have to hunt for missing pieces or mix brands. Each part is precision matched for 3,500-lb Dexter axles with a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern and fits wheel sizes from 14-1/2" to 16-1/2".
Made with sturdy iron, this hub assembly is built to take on regular towing duty without warping or cracking under load. Whether you’re refurbishing an old trailer or keeping a spare on hand for emergencies, its solid design and tight tolerances keep your wheels rolling smoothly trip after trip.
1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"
