Thoroughly Tested for Safety

This hub-and-drum assembly meets the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. This assembly underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. This assembly has also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.

E-Z Lube and Easy Grease-Compatible Assembly for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub-and-drum assembly is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube or etrailer Easy Grease axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Only suggestion I can make is that the hub caps need to be packaged attached inside the drums to avoid the damage they will take with the current method of shipping..The races were installed and the bearing were prepacked with grease, and sealed with removable plastic seal caps

The brake drum hub was a perfect match. Customer service was above reproach very patient. RV manufacture put in axle On the trailer with odd hubs, end it took several attempts to acquire the correct parts. Customer service was very patient sent return labels and me the whole process as painless as possible. they have a customer for life!

It is the right item for my 5th wheel needs. Great product with all the bearings and seal installed and greased. Great price and quality looks good, matches OEM.

After 20,000 miles of travel, these are still working great and having the ability to grease these is a great advantage to their life expectancy.

I must say I am very impressed with customer service as I ordered the parts over the phone. The person I talked was Troy. I checked the parts on the web site and I made a list of what I needed and called customer service. Their web site made it so easy, they truly have their act together at this company. One thing I did before I placed my order was to remove one hub and checked the bearing numbers! Just to make sure. and checked the wheel stud measurements. I ordered my parts for a 3,500LB EZ Lube Axels 10" Dia - 6 on 5 1/2. So easy even a caveman can do it! I removed all the parts from the box and laid everything out and checked for any missing parts. They were spot on with the parts. My son and I removed the old tires and hubs, cleaned up the spindles. I took the new bearing and placed them on the spindles to make sure they fit. Perfect so far. I showed my son how to hand packed the bearings and set those aside. We installed the brake kit on the axels,*** Please note make sure you order the bolting kit! 8 nuts and 8 washers. only a few bucks.**** I have a 20 year old son, he asked if he could do one side, sure why not. He ended up doing both sides. He enjoyed how easy it was. Once they were bolted in place, we made sure everything was tightened down. Next we made sure the hubs were spotless, we used a brake cleaner to remove any particles to insure a good clean surface. The races were already installed at the factory, which made it so much easier. We put a nice amount of grease in the hub between where the bearings sit placed grease on the race and installed the bearing. I packed the back of the grease seal with grease and installed the seal tapping it in place with a block of wood making sure it went in nice and straight, Fit like a glove! I had my son do the other side. From there he wanted to do the rest, so I let him. Everything fit like a glove, the hubs slipped on nice and easy, installed the front bearing washer and the castle nut, The Cotter key was not included with the kit, no problem I always have extras. tightened the castle nut nice and firm to seat the bearings spin the hub around a few times and than backed the nut off about a half turn and installed the cotter pin. I put a nice amount of grease in the hub cap and tapped it into place. I have to say it was a very easy to convert to standard hub to electric brakes. Next I took a wire wheel to the frame down to bare steel and drilled a 1/4 hole, installed a waterproof wire ring terminal on one of the green wires for the ground. Tightened it down to make a nice connection and sprayed black paint over the bare steel to prevent rust, Both sides were done in the same manner. I connected the other 2 green wires and I ran wire up to the control box following the existing wires along the frame. I installed the brake controller but I forgot to order the junction box! So I am waiting for that to arrive. So I am pretty much done except for the one item. Very easy I can't say enough but, Thank you Troy! It was a pleasure dong business with E Trailer. I just wish I took some pictures!

Freaking Awesome Could not be happier!

I ordered these hubs to replace the existing ones on my camping trailer so I could replace the tires with a heavier load range rating. The hubs arrived in a timely manner and were a good quality replacement. The improvement in the stability of the trailer while being towed was a very noticeable difference. etrailer has been a great company to buy from and a very good resource for information if you are not sure about a purchase.

The part was very clean, robust, easy to install. I replaced 5 on 5.5 hubs on a 6x10 Wells Cargo trailer and added trailer brakes.

- AKHD-655-35-EZ-K

these were also a direct replacement of the original drums, these took about an hour and a half with packing the bearings, seals, installation of drum and wheels. This was a remove and replace which went very easy.

  • Do You Still Need To Add Grease to etrailer Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly
Correct, the pre-greased hubs we offer such as the Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part # AKHD-655-35-EZ-K will still require additional grease to be added once they are secured to the spindle. The pre-greasing simply means the bearings have already been packed for you. They come with a petroleum-based grease which is most common so you could use part # L11465 although the color may be a bit different.

If the hub/drum is not sliding onto the spindle of your Timbren Axle-Less system, there will be one of two things causing it. First will be some kind of obstruction on the spindle that the inner bearing is getting caught on. If that's nice and smooth, you will most likely just need to tighten the brake pads down. Some times they can be spread out fairly far when we...

With your tire size of 265/75R16 that means you have 31.65" x 10.43" tires with that said the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System - Spindle w/Brake Flange - Off-Road...

  • Replacement Hub and Drum Assembly for 3,500 Pound Axle with 6 on 5-1/2 Bolt Pattern
The 65535 likely stands for your 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern on a 3,500 pound axle. Which means your bearings numbers should be # L68149 and # L44649, inner and outer. You'll want to verify these are correct before purchasing. If I'm right about the bearing numbers the correct replacement hub and drum assembly is # AKHD-655-35-K for standard spindles and # AKHD-655-35-EZ-K for E-Z lube spindles. If you have different bearings let me know the bearing numbers and I'll find the correct...

  • How to Determine if Trailer has 84 Spindle to Pick Out Replacement
In order to verify the spindle dimensions so that you can pick out the correct hub/drum you have to get exact dimensions. For that you need to use a digital caliper like part # PTW80157. For how old your trailer is this is especially important as the standard spindles sizes have changed since 1969. An 84 spindle would measure 1.06 where the outer bearing rides, 1.38 where the inner bearing rides, and 1.73 where the seal rides. For a hub with a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern that would...

  • Which Drums and Brake Assemblies for Timbren ASR1THDS02 Axle-Less Suspension
The Timbren # ASR1THDS02 Axle-Less suspension is compatible with hubs that use an L44649 outer and L68149 inner bearing like the # AKHD-655-35-EZ-K brake drums you mentioned. These drums have a 6 lug on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern. If you needed a hub/drum with a 5 lug on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern, you'd use # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K. Either 10 x 2-1/4 inch hub drum is compatible with the # AKEBRK-35-SA self-adjusting brake assemblies.

  • Replacement Hub and Drum for EZ Loader Boat Trailer
The measurements about your sleeve are confusing to me but with inner and outer bearings # L68149 and # L44649 you have a 3,500 pound axle that should use a hub and drum like part # AKHD-545-35-K if the wheels have a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern. Or if you have E-Z Lube axles use part # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K instead. If you have a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern instead use # AKHD-655-35-K for a standard axle or # AKHD-655-35-EZ-K for an E-Z lube. It's likely you have either of those bolt patterns...
