Corrosion Resistance for Marine Use

This trailer hub assembly has a zinc coating that resists corrosion, making it ideal for use on your boat or snowmobile trailer. All GAL-DEX hubs undergo a test in which they are sprayed with a 5-percent salt solution to determine corrosion resistance over time. These products are able to withstand 500 hours of constant exposure to the saltwater mist. This 500-hour salt spray rating indicates that a product is not only durable enough to last in freshwater environments, but it can also be used on trailers that come into contact with saltwater

E-Z Lube Design

The E-Z Lube design of this assembly not only makes lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

  • Replacement Hub for 1989 Ranger Trailer
Judging by your photo, your trailer would use an idler hub, not a hub drum. Assuming you have 5 lug on 4-1/2 inch bolt circle wheels that use an # L44649 inner and outer wheel bearing, you have a few choices. Rather than the painted hub, I'd recommend going with a galvanized hub for greater corrosion resistance. Dexter hubs are manufactured in the US, which is what I'd recommend. For an 8, 10 or a 12 inch wheel, use # 8-259-50UC1 for a standard spindle or # 8-259-50UC1-EZ for the EZ Lube...

  • Replacement Hub for Load Rite 19R20 Trailer
Hi Don; I wasn't able to find anything with the model number and even if I could, I would only be guessing at the axle size for a replacement hub. You will need to identify your axle to find the right hub. You can either look for an axle tag or pull the existing hubs off to check bearings. Then you can look for the bearing part numbers or measure the inner diameter with a digital caliper # PTW80157. The # 8-258-50UC1-EZ you asked about is designed for 2,200 lb axles with # L44649 inner...

  • Hub/Drum with Bearings that Fits 3,500 lb Axle with 5 on 4-1/2 inch Bolt Pattern
Since we know you have a 3,500 lb axle on your Trailstar trailer we might have an option like with the part # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K which has a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern but we do not have anything that has a 5 on 4 inch bolt pattern as that is not a standard trailer bolt pattern. I attached a help article on bolt patterns for you to check out so that you can verify.

  • How To Find Replacement Hub For 1993 Ranger Trail Bass Boat Trailer
Hey Jake, there's a few things you'll want to check so that we can match up a hub for your 1993 Ranger Trail bass boat trailer. You'll first want to measure the lug pattern / wheel bolt pattern. I've attached an article to help with this (some common sizes are 5 on 4-1/2", 4 on 4" etc). Next you'll want to either get the axle capacity of your trailer, or pull off the hub and get the bearing numbers so we can match up the correct hub. For example, the Trailer Hub Assembly - 2,200-lb E-Z...

  • Hub for E-Z Lube Spindle on Boat Trailer
In order to determine if hub assembly 8-258-50UC1-EZ will work for you, first know that this assembly is for EZ Lube spindles that require a grease seal with a 1-1/2" inner diameter such as # RG06-020. You are also going to want to remove the hub and take a look at the bearing numbers to make sure your inner and outer bearings are # L44649. Normally that would be enough, but since you sanded the spindle, I also recommend you use a digital caliper such as # PTW80157 and measure the spindle...

  • Replacement Trailer Idler Hubs For a 2007 Tracker TrailStar Boat Trailer
The Trailer Hub Assembly # 8-258-50UC1-EZ does appear to be the correct replacement hub assembly for your 2007 Tracker Trailstar Trailer. To confirm this you will want to remove the entire hub assembly and ensure the spindle is a straight spindle and uses the same size inner bearing. Also the grease seal that is included with this assembly is for a 1-1/2" spindle diameter. You can confirm this with a Digital Caliper # PTW80157. • Replacement Hub for Tracker TrailStar Boat Trailer
Overpacking the trailer hub with grease is the number one reason for grease seal failure. For a boat trailer I would recommend re-packing the hubs by hand with grease once per season and you'd be fine. I don't like recommending people use Bearing Buddies or EZ lube spindles as this commonly causes over-packing. Based on everything you mentioned the hub you'd need as a replacement is the Dexter part # 8-258-50UC1-EZ which matches the bolt pattern, the bearing you mentioned, and the capacity...

Hello again, Ken, You are looking to remove the disc brakes and just install idler hubs. I can definitely get you the correct parts. I do not have a database that tells me what is installed on which trailer, but in my research, I see that the 2021 Coyote tandem axle trailer is most commonly equipped with (2) 3,500-pound axles (you will want to double-check the axle tag to confirm). In order to find the correct hubs/drums for a trailer you'll need to know either the axle capacity, bearings numbers, or spindle dimensions. We can't look any of this up for any one particular trailer as there is simply no database of this info for trailers. The easiest option is to simply crawl under the trailer and read the tag off the beam. • Galvanized Hub For 2000 ShoreLandr Boat Trailer With 1-1/16 Bearing
I found the ShoreLandr online and you need a hub with a inner and outer bearing part # L44649. The inner diameter of the L44649 bearing is 1.063 inches. You can measure your existing bearing to be sure that's what it measures. I recommend Dexter Galvanized Hub part # 8-258-50UC1-EZ if you have an axle equipped with EZ lube fittings on the spindles. I recommend Dexter Galvanized Hub part # 8-258-50UC1 if you have a standard spindle without EZ lube fittings. Both of these hubs are galvanized.

This kit is intended for 2200-lb E-Z Lube axles and wheels from 13- to 15-inches in diameter.
