Ask the Experts about this TruRyde Trailer Spindles

  • Recommended Trailer Idler Hub for a Trailer with 84 Spindles
The threaded portion of the spindle isn't that important when picking out a replacement hub. That portion of the spindle is only for the castle nut, and since you have that already you would be fine. As long as the rest of the dimensions of your spindle match the # TRU64FR then the hub part # 84545BX would fit.

  • Spindle Recommendation for a Hub that Has Bearing Dimensions 1.06 and 1.38
The spindle we offer that has the closest dimensions to what you listed will be an 84 spindle like part # TRU64FR. The surface of the spindle where the bearings will ride is 1.06 inch and 1.38 inch which is pretty close to what you have but not exact so you would want to double check the measurements you took. For a hub then with the bolt pattern 5 on 4-1/2 inch like you said you need you would want the part # 84545BX.

  • How Far Out will a Hub Face be on a #84 Trailer Spindle
I can tell you roughly where the hub face will be on a #84 spindle but I would have to use # TRU74FR as an example. On this spindle from the brake mounting flange to the hub face it will be approximately 3 to 3-1/2 inches. Since spindle # TRU64FR does not have a mounting flange you would be looking at the distance from about an 1 back from the line between the raw steel and the machined steel on the stub to the hub face. These are the best guesstimates I can provide without having...

  • Recommended Idler Hubs and Electric Drum Hub and Brakes for Horse Trailer with 3,500lbs Axles
It sounds like you have a 3,500lb axles on your horse trailer from your measurements. For 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern idler hubs I recommend the # AKIHUB-545-35-EZ-K. For the 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern electric brake hub I recommend the # AKHD-545-35-K. For self adjusting 10 inch brakes that will work with the # AKHD-545-35-K hub you will want (right) # AKEBRK-35R-SA and for (left) # AKEBRK-35L-SA. I have linked the above mentioned products to this page for your convenience.

  • Spindle and Idler Hub Assembly for 3500 lb Round Trailer Axle
The Trailer Idler Hub Assembly, # AKIHUB-655-35-K, with a 6 lug on 5-1/2 inch wheel bolt pattern will fit the TruRyde Spindle # TRU64FR. These parts are compatible for use on a 3500 lb round trailer axle. When installing these parts, I recommend the LubiMatic Deluxe Bearing Packer, # L70025, along with LubriMatic LMX "Red" Industrial Strength Grease, # L11390. For a grease gun, I'd suggest # L30200.

  • Do You Have a Weld On # 84 Spindle With a Grease Zerk For E-Z Lube Hubs?
The #84 E-Z Lube Spindle # TRU74FR matches the dimensions of the #84 Spindle # TRU64FR and will have the E-Z lube spindle and a brake flange. With the brake flange the stub will be 3/4" longer. If necessary you can cut off the brake flange to get the correct length but otherwise it will not affect the operation of a non braking idler hub.

  • How to Determine Hub and Spindle Size
The spindle dimensions are as follows: A is the mounting dimension, B is the seal dimension, C is the inner bearing surface, D is the outer bearing surface and E is the diameter of the threaded portion of the spindle for spindle nut selection. Say you need a spindle and hub for a wheel with 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern and an axle that is 3500 lbs. For a single axle trailer you can use two of either the item # TRU64FR, if your axle is round or item # TRU47FR if your axle is square....

  • What Size of Spindle is Needed for a 3,500-Lb Axle
I have three spindles that are for a 3,500-lb axle and have the bearing dimensions you have listed. The only difference is the dimension for the grease seal is 1.75 inches, not the 1.795 inches that you have mentioned. Maybe you typed in the seal diameter wrong. The hub number you have mentioned is just a casting number, not a part number. The three spindles I have for a 3,500-lb axle are as follows. #84 Spindle - 1-3/4" Diameter (8-1/4" OAL) # TRU64FR #84 E-Z Lube Spindle w/ Brake...

  • What Size Spindle do Bearings L68149 and L44649 fit on
Yes, you are going to want a spindle that has the 1.063" and 1.378" measurements. This is commonly known as a #84 spindle and can be found on our site with a few variances. For example, the TruRyde EZ Lube Spindle # TRU74FR comes with a brake mounting flange and a grease zerk fitting while the Redline Spindle # TRU64FR does not come with the flange or a zerk fitting. These fit the typical round applications but we also have one for a square application with part # TRU47FR. Any of...

  • Compatibility of Disc Brake Kits for Idler Hubs on Boat Trailer
The Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2R35S is designed for 3500-lb-rated axles that have idler hubs and allows converting them from idler to disc brake operation. The bolt pattern determines whether they will fit on your idler hubs; and they will fit a #84 spindle like # TRU64FR. This system would brake too aggressively if installed on a 2100-lb GAWR axle. Brakes should always be selected based on the axle weight rating; this is true for disc or drum brakes. Typically a 2100-lb axle will...
