How's it going, neighbors Today, we're gonna take a look at the Yakima Round Bars with SightLine Towers and see how well it fits on our 2020 Ford F-150. So, adding roof racks to your vehicle is gonna allow you to take advantage of that negative space and get those bigger, bulkier and sometimes dirty items out on the road. So let's take a closer look at what it's made of and see how well it fits. One thing that's cool about round bars, they're a very cost-effective way to get things out on the road. If I have to point out a con, they're not as aerodynamic as some bars, so when they're not loaded, they can cause some more noise. However, these guys are super solid.
They're gonna give you 165 pounds of weight. Make sure you're checking your manufacturer's guide to see how much weight can go on top of your vehicle. However, these guys are super solid. Powder-coated steel is gonna hold up against the abuse of being on top of your vehicle, and wear go down to our towers. Now, the materials that they use for these are similar to the ones that the manufacturers use on the vehicle.
So they're designed to deal with outside temperatures as far as heat and cold. It's ready for anything you throw at it. You also can switch out to the Yakima same key system. This lock core pops out and you'll be able to have one key for all your Yakima items. So if you also have, say the skinny warrior or rooftop box from Yakima, you can have one key for all of it.
Now, what really holds it all down is gonna be our tower right here. The pad underneath is gonna fit right into your gutter and then hook into your door jam. It's padded rubber so it's not gonna cause any damage and it's gonna give you that nice tight custom fit. Now, as far as installation, only things you're gonna need that's not included is a tape measure. So I would suggest that you grab that and I'll show you how to get it done.
We're gonna go ahead and get everything put together. I've already installed the front bar just so 'cause it's based off of the distance from the windshield within the instruction manual. So you're gonna take your towers and they may come pre-installed with these brackets here that are used for like your jet stream bars. We're just gonna switch that out. Now, our base clip kit is gonna come with everything you need to switch this over to use our round adapter. Now, you're gonna get this guy in here. You're just gonna drop it in, making sure those ridges, these little lips fall right onto the sides, and you just kind of press it in with your thumb. From here, we're gonna go ahead and slide this into that slot, trying to align the screw with the thread on the bottom of our round adapter. We're gonna set up our pitch and toe here. You have B and two right here and that's gonna be the center lines and that's, you know, just tighten those guys down. Now, as far as the one right here, that's what holds your brown bar into play. So don't overtighten it so you can still get it down your pole. We're gonna get our pad. This is the part that's facing outward. You want this to hang out, the open part to go face you. You just snap it right onto the bottom. You see it snaps into place. And from here, this is the actual clip that goes in your door jam. You're going into this slot and you're attaching it to the hook on the inside here. So you're just gonna kind of feed it in and hook it on. Once you get it up there, this is where you're gonna tighten it down. I'm installing this guy on a 2020 Ford F-150. So make sure you using the fit guide to get the appropriate fit for your vehicle and make sure you get no proper measurements. Also going off of your install guide. So now, we're gonna take this guy and get it on the roof. A couple pointers as far as our spread, we're right at 32 inches here on our vehicle measuring from the front of your towers. Now, you definitely wanna make sure that you have everything aligned correctly 'cause it just won't fit otherwise. Now, you have two screws to make your adjustments. This is gonna lower the clamp. And right here, the guide screw is gonna allow it to clamp onto your roof. Now, the good thing is, you don't have to worry about over tightening it because Yakima includes a torque wrench with it. So it's gonna clamp down and you'll just hear a click once it's where it needs to be. And now, you're good to go. And this is the part where you put in your optional lock core and you're just gonna hook this onto the edge of your tower. There's two points right here, connect there and it just snaps into place. Now, you're good to go. When you get out there, I'd love to see a photo of what you do and how you're using your round bars because I just love having that interaction with you. So this has been a look at the Yakima Round Bars with baseline towers on 2020 Ford F-150. Have a great day.
So far so good! Cant beat the price!
