Which Size Crossbars for Thule Hullavator Pro on 2026 Ford F-350

Updated 03/09/2026 | Published 03/07/2026

Question:

What size crossbar do I need to fit 2 Thule Hullavator Pros on a 2026 Ford F-350 Crew Cab? Would a 60inch crossbar be sufficient or would I need a 70inch crossbar? Would a 70inch crossbar sick out the side too far? The roof width from door opening to door opening is ~59. The Thule Hullavator Pro instructions indicate you need 4-8inch crossbar overhand. Is this measured at the top or bottom of the crossbar? Based on the angle of the feet, the overhang distance is different when measuring at the top of the crossbar or bottom of the crossbar. That is taking a measurement from the end of the crossbar to the foot on the top of the crossbar. FYI Im looking at the Yakima Roof Rack w/ Jetstream crossbars to match with the Thule Hullavator Pro. Thank-you for your assistance. Tom

Hi Tom! I just got to this one so I'm guessing you're going with the Thule Hullavator Pro # TH898 for your setup. I don't have the exact measurement for the 60" bars but it looks like it is too close to call. It will be 4-8" on the top. The 70" bar setup would be best, and it won't be too wide for your truck. Once again you will need the following:

-BaseLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars # Y28TR

-BaseClip Fit Kit for Yakima BaseLine Roof Rack Towers # Y06185

-Yakima JetStream Crossbars - Aluminum - Black - 70" Long - Qty 2 # Y00427

The picture I used in the other answer, and the one below, is with the 70" bars on a similar Ford truck.

Good Morning Robin, Thanks for your reply, information and picture. Excellent as always. Yes, I'm now looking at the Hullavator over the MOS Uplift. Primarily because it looks like the Hullavator will be lower when pulled down along the side of the truck than the MOS, making it easier to load & unload kayaks. At 70+ years old, I'm looking for any advantage I can get LOL. And thanks for the info on the 70" Yakima Jetstream crossbars. I actually found and figured out how to build a Yakima 70" Jetstream crossbar via individual parts after I sent my other question. Thanks for confirming the parts I would need. My concern with a 70" crossbar and the Hullavator is that it looks like when the Hullavator is mounted on the crossbar, it extends another few inches. Because of this, the kayaks, when loaded, will be close to hanging over the side of the truck. Will this put too much side pressure on the roof rack / crossbars having the kayaks loaded so far to the side? We have 9.5 foot Perception Swiftys weighting between 35-40 lbs. An additional question, we tow a fifth wheel, so when towing and loading the kayaks, the kayaks have to be pushed forward so the back end of the kayaks don't hang over the cab into the bed of the truck to assure clearance with the fifth wheel when turning. Will the Hullavator support this type of positioning of the kayaks when mounting them? Again, thanks for all your help. Tom

@TomH you're fine as long as you aren't overloading the crossbars. You're close but at basically 40 lbs for the # TH898 and then 40 lbs per kayak you won't be over the 165 lb limit of the bars. I really can't say for sure on the placement of the kayak without knowing how far forward you have to move those for clearance. There really isn't a good way to find out other than trying it. If the weight is too far forward it will be a problem for any kayak carrier. You might have to use something like the # Y01149-1150 on a front hitch for extra support if they're too far out.
