Correct Size Yakima HD Crossbar for a 2016 Ford F-150

Question:

looking to install HD bars on naked roof of cabin, I am debating between 68inch and 78inch for an increase in room for ladders, canoe, possible platform and other accessories. What will my overhang be with 78inch bar on cabin? From my calculations and factory stat sheet it looks like 9inch overhang on each side. Any success or suggestions on whether this is a safe install? Thanks.

The recommended size Yakima HD Crossbar for a 2016 Ford F-150 is 60", part # Y01157, this should provide around a 3-4" overhang which is standard. If you want to go with a longer option like 68" part # Y01158, you can do so but you'd have more overhang. This could be calculated for each bar size using the info above. In order to complete this setup you'll need the following; part # Y28TR, part # Y03541, and part # Y06122.
