Video Transcript for Rhino-Rack Track Mount Roof Rack System Installation - 2011 Ford F-350

Today on our 2011 Ford F-350 we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Rhino Rack roof rack ladder rack system, part number Y02-490B. The Rhino Rack roof rack ladder rack system is the perfect addition to your camper shell, hard tunnel, or hardtop. It let's you carry all your gear on the aero style aluminum crossbars. The Rhino Rack vortex aero bars have an aerodynamic design and they're going to help cut down on wind drag and noise. You can completely adjust it along the C-channel of your track to accommodate your accessory. The track legs feature a locking cap which cover up our quick release so no one can remove our crossbars.

We can simply disconnect it from our track and when not in use we can simply remove the crossbar and the mounting plates have included a dust cap. The track that's connected to our camper shell is made out of a stainless steel construction with an anti corrosion coating both of which are going to stand up to the elements. The track legs have a unique design which allows it to pivot in the mounting plate to accommodate uneven surfaces and the curves of your vehicle. With the Rhino Rack roof rack ladder rack system as you can see we can load up a stand up paddle board or even a ladder. Now that we've gone over some of the features I'll go ahead and show you how to get it installed. We're going to need a tape measure and we'll grab one of our E-tracks.

We're going to make sure that the end with the slightly bigger opening, which is going to be this end right here is facing towards the back of the truck and that the curve edge portion here is facing the outside of the vehicle. I'll go ahead and set it up there so you can easily see what I'm talking about. We'll have it about like that. Then we'll grab our tape measure and we're going to center it up with our vehicle here. When placing the track, we'll need to have it as close to the edge of the shell as possible so you'll need to find a flat spot here and you can come off, you can measure off your window from here down and we'll also need to be roughly center or an evenly space between here and the front of the shell. Let's grab our tape measure and I'm going to come off the back window first because it's a fixed point and I know it's going to be accurate.

I've got about 13" inches right there from the window and I know that where the curvature of the shell starts it's about 9" from here to here and 9" from the track to the curvature of the point up front there. With that being done I'm going to go ahead and mark that. You can use whatever works best for you. I've got a little grease pencil here. I'm going to mark just right about where it needs to be and I'm going to make just a small mark there and to find the edge I'm going to come up about 7" and that's going to be right before the curvature starts there. I'm just going to work my way down a little bit.

Going to come over a little bit more and then I'm going to mark that line. All right, that looks pretty close with 7" being there. While we're back here, before we move up front let's go ahead and mark our center of our track. Now I'm going to go up to the front and measure up on that side of the window. Then I'll come up 7" from my window, move it over slightly and then mark that out. Then also while I'm here I'm going to go ahead and mark center of my track here. Now with our track lined up and marked, let's go ahead and take it off here. We're going to turn it around, line it up with our center mark that we had marked out and we're going to use it as a guide and draw a line with our marker. We're going to go right along the side, all the way down to the other side. It's not a bad idea to get an extra set of hands to hold it but I'm working my way down and I can seem to get it. Once we've got it marked we can just complete remove it and set it aside for now. For our next step, let's go ahead and grab our tape measure and what we need to do is we need to measure about 3/4 in from our center line. We'll line it up with the end here, mark out 3/4, and draw my line. We'll do the same thing on the other end. 3/4 and then my line. Then from our 3/4 mark let's go ahead and measure in 8 3/4. We'll do that again, and again. Essentially we want 8 3/4 increments all along the line so we'll just do that all the way. With that being done you should be 8 3/4 by the time you meet in the center. We'll start right here at the 3/4 mark and we'll work our way down into the camper shell and then once that one's done we'll go to each one of our marks, the 8 3/4 marks and work our way all the way down the line. Once we've got all those drilled out with our smaller drill bit, I went ahead and put on the larger drill bit, the 1/4" and we'll just work our way down once again making the bigger hole. Once we've got all those drilled out it's a good idea to go ahead and vacuum up the little fiberglass particles because you want a nice clean surface when you place your track back down. Let's go ahead and wipe up that mess and get a nice, good, clean surface. Now we're just about ready to install our track on our camper shell. But first, what we need to do is grab our T-bolts, we'll need to make sure that six of them have the black washers on them as you see that they do there. Two of them are for the end caps so we won't worry about them just yet. Let's just go ahead and start by sliding the T-bolts, with the washers onto the track. We'll simply have it upside down like this and we'll slide them on underneath like so. We'll just push them all toward the center for now and we'll line them up once we get it on our camper shell. Now for our end caps, let's go ahead and turn our track back over. We'll need to make sure and have the end that corresponds with the curvature of the track here, so this one. Then we'll take our T-bolt without the washer and we're going to put it down through the end cap like this. Then we'll grab our track, we're going to turn it upside down along like that and then slide it in just like that. Let's just repeat the same process on this side here. Now we can move on to the truck. Let's go ahead and peel off that paper revealing our gasket. This is going to help with good watertight seal for our track. Once that's done, one thing that we'll need to double check is to make sure that we have the larger opened end facing towards the back as we said in the beginning. We do here, let's go ahead and line up our T-bolts with the holes that we drilled out. We'll just roughly get them all spaced out to where they need to be and then we'll lower it down in the holes. Once we get it into position we'll just push down on it like so. Once we've got that seated on our camper shell, let's go ahead and grab our thumbscrews and go underneath the camper shell and tighten them down. We'll need to grab all eight and then I'll meet you inside. To get started, let's go ahead and put our thumbscrews on and we don't want to tighten them down all the way just yet. In doing so you want to make sure and pull down some of that excess fiberglass that didn't make it all the way through from the drill bit. We'll put those all on and then we'll tighten them evenly. Once we get them on let's go ahead and tighten them down so they at least make contact with the camper shell. Now with them all slightly tightened down, let's go ahead and finish them off. What we want to do is we want to start in the middle here and work our way out, so we'll do this one, this one, and then this one, and this one, and work our way out. As you can see with all those tightened down our track has got a nice snug fit to our camper shell. Let's go ahead and repeat that same step on the other side and then we'll move on to our crossbar setup. Now with both tracks installed I just want to tell you real quick that you can purchase these separately from the kit at e-trailer.com and that's going to be part number RTC16. Now let's install our quick release track legs. These are going to slide onto our track here and you can purchase these separately at e-trailer.com and that's going to be part number RRRLT600. First thing we need to do is go ahead and grab the hex nuts and slide them onto our track. I've already got one disassembled so we'll grab our hex nuts and we'll slide them in. We'll need to be at the back of the track where the opening is larger, so that's at the rear of the camper shell. We'll slide those in place and then we'll grab our mounting plate with the icon sticking out and that's going to go on top of our hex nuts. We'll grab two screws, we'll put our lock washer on first, followed by our regular washer and then we'll line up our two holes on either side here with the hex nuts. We'll put that through on both sides, we'll get those in place then we'll grab our included allen key and we're going to tighten that down onto our hex nuts. There's no reason to tighten it down all the way just yet, let's leave it a little loose so we can slide it along our track. For our second one I did find an easier way to install it that you can try. I've got both hex nuts in place and I've got them just loose enough to where I can fit it in the track and slide it down. With both of those in place let's go ahead and repeat that same step on the other side and then we've got it. Before we can finish installing our legs we'll need to have our mounting plate tightened down to our track. We can adjust this anywhere along our track if we'd like but we want to make sure that they're even with the other side. We'll grab our tape measure and I'm going to come up 8" from the end here to the center of the mounting plate and tighten that down and then I'm going to do the same thing from the other side. There's no reason to over tighten those. Once we've got them both tightened down, they should be nice and snug. Now, from this one, from the center here I'm going to measure up 28" to the center of the next mounting plate on the same side here. That looks good, we'll tighten this one down and we'll repeat that same step on the other side. For the other portion of our leg, it's simply just going to fit in place of our mounting plate here. First thing we need to do is go ahead and remove that back cover here and inside it reveals these two quick release levers. Let's go ahead and slide those forward until they lock in place like this. This retracts the two knobs on the end so we can fit it into the mounting plate. We'll just lower that down, once we've got it in position like that, let's go ahead and release those levers until it clips in just like that. With two of our quick release legs installed we can go ahead and grab our Rhino Rack crossbar. This is going to be the final portion to our Rhino Rack roof rack ladder rack system. This one's 59" long, you can find a wide variety of these at e-trailer.com. This particular one's going to be part number RRVA150B. Let's go ahead and move onto our truck. The easiest way I found to install this is go ahead and set the crossbar on the other side of the mounting plate over there and then we're going to line it up with our leg here and the hex bolt is going to slide in to this portion right here. We're just going to angle it up and guide it in place just like that. Once we've got it guided in let's go ahead and pull it all the way towards us until it stops and then let's repeat that same step on the front side here. With both of those done let's go ahead and go over to the other side and grab the other portion of our legs. We'll pick up on the crossbar and we're just going to slide that plate in. Just like that. We'll slide it in and set the leg in the mounting plate there, go ahead and clip that in and then we'll do the other one. With our crossbars in place, before we can completely tighten them down we need to make sure that we have even bar overhang. As you can see we're a little short over there and a little long over here. Let's go ahead and push that and eye it up a little bit to where it looks even, then we'll grab our tape measure, let's just see where we're at. We've got about 6" right here, I'm going to run over to the other side and check that. Just the luck, we've got about 6" right here. We can go ahead and tighten that down. To tighten it down we've got a bolt on the inside here that we can just get to right back here with our included allen key. We'll just slip it in right through there and tighten that down. There's no reason to over tighten, just get it nice and snug. We'll go over to the other side and tighten that down. That looks pretty good. At this point with our crossbars tightened down we can actually go ahead and disconnect it from the mounting plate, I'll show you how I got the rubber part installed on top and then we're going to install the rubber portion on bottom. With it removed you can see I didn't have to undo the screw to remove it from the track legs here. With that being done we can go ahead and fill in our spots here to cut down on our wind noise. We're just going to slide this in like this, all the way up to the front of the track leg. Once that stops we can cut it off and we can pull it out a little bit so we can see where we marked it, cut it and then slide it back in. As you can see it's just going to improve the finish of the underneath portion of the bar and cut down on your wind noise. For this part here we can just push it into place, slide it all the way up to the track leg and then we'll see where it stops here, we'll make a mark, or we can hold it in place, and cut it. Once it's cut we'll just slide that back on and then there you go. Now we'll just repeat that same step on the other side. With that being done let me flip it over and I'll show you how I got the rubber strips installed. They're pretty simple. I'll just remove one section here. You can slide it on like this and it gets a little tough as you get further, but I found it easier to just put it in place and just kind of push down on it. Then after the rubber strip's on top let's go ahead and grab our end caps. We're just going to slip that on the end, take our key, lock it in place. We'll go over to the other side and do the same thing. Once we got that done we can put it back up on our mounting plates, grab our other crossbar and repeat that same step. With our crossbars all put together, we've got them back up on our mounting plates here, last part to do is to install our cover plates on. Then we're ready to load up our favorite Rhino Rack accessory. That's going to complete our look and install of the Rhino Rack roof rack ladder rack system, part number Y02-490B on our 2011 Ford F-350 crew cab. .

Rack is very high quality. Quiet ride at all speeds. Installation video extremely helpful. The only issue I encountered was that the mounting bolts were bearly long enough to get through thickness of truck cap. I had to remove plastic thumb nuts and use thin fender washers to make it work. Very stressful situation after drilling 12 holes in my cap! These bolts need to be longer to allow for different thickness in caps. Otherwise, very satisfied with this rack. 603056

Product is installed on 2015 GMC Sierra extended cab with a fiberglass A.R.E. bed cap (6.5' bed). System works well and the bars are strong and solid. The cross-bars and risers can be removed quickly and easily (with the proper key) leaving only the pads clamped in place on the rails. Cross-bars and risers can be installed on the pads very quickly. Installation was straightforward and easy, except for the rubber strips that fill the grooves in the crossbars - those were the most difficult part of the installation - to get those to seat correctly (so I lowered rating by 1 star). 545668

So far so good. I paid a professional (camper shell place) to install it and it took them a bit over an hour to do so. Looks great and I'm confident it will do the job. Whistling noise at speeds above 40 or so, but I have yet removed the crossbars - assuming it will be quieter when I do so. 557696

Comments

Any time equipment is installed on the top of a vehicle, a certain amount of wind noise is unavoidable. You can minimize this by ensuring that the rubber strips are fully in place on the top and bottom surface of the crossbars. If any of the channel is exposed, the crossbar will be noisier. A fairing like part # RRRF4
Rhino-Rack Fairing for Roof Racks - 50" Long

would also further minimize the noise-causing turbulence.

This Rhino Rack roof rack system worked out very well for me. I installed it myself and took my time doing it. The rack system will work great with my RTT. It's easy to adjust and looks great on truck. For the installation, I decided to use a center line down the middle of my canopy (shell) as my reference point for all measurements. I simply identified the middle of the third brake light on the shell and the third brake light on the back of the cab. I then snapped a chalk line from those points to mark the middle of the canopy. This method worked out great and the rails are perfectly parallel to each other. The folks at etrailer.com were especially helpful. I had a slight glitch with a minor part in the kit and Bill at e-trailer got it resolved very quickly. He even followed up by calling me directly to give me an update. Truly exceptional customer service. Thanks to all at etrailer. They will definitely get more of my business. 497821

This may very well be a great product when it comes to its functionality, but the installation was fraught with problems. 1). There were two sets of instructions in box, but the materials list only applies to one of the sets of instructions. Thankfully I counted the hardware before I started drilling the holes. Unfortunately, I didn’t count the o-rings. First trip to the hardware store. 2). I finish drilling the holes and place the track onto my truck cap, get into the bed of the truck and start the t-nuts. And half of the t-nuts won’t thread onto the t-bolts. I look closely at the two t-nuts I have left over and notice casting slag literally covering most of the threads. Back to the hardware store for a thread die to clean the threads. 556951

The product is great as usual with rhino rack. However the best thing about this order was how helpful etrailer.com was. They went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. Thanks again. 552095

2016 Jeep Wrangler

I purchased this rack system for my 2016 Jeep Wrangler Willy's Wheeler edition - 2 door! There are lots of products out there that are listed for the 4 door but the two door model is more difficult to shop for. The racks shipped immediately and were here in just a few days. All the parts were there, properly labeled and provided with clear instructions. To properly fit my small roof, I took the two roof rails to a local machine shop and had them cut them to exactly 35.5". This allowed me to mount the tracks in the outermost groove on the roof and gave me the greatest possible length. One problem that I had (and had predicted) is that the inside of the Jeep roof has a lip on the inside that interferes with the provided knobs seating properly against the inside of the roof. The local hardware store had no nuts (NOTHING) that would fit the threads of the provided T-Bolts. I ended up temporarily using solid metal spacers to fill the gap and allow me to tighten the provided knobs against the spacer which is against a rubber gasket and then the inner roof! It worked! In the meantime, I will continue to search for some safety nuts that will fit the Rhino provided T-Bolts. The rack looks great, is solid as a rock and easy to put on and remove! Now I can comfortably carry our kayaks and/or paddle boards to the lake! 523972

The Rhino T-Load Hitch and Vortex Aero roof rack system are very well designed, strong and straightforward installations. We have a Hobie Tandem Island sailing kayak, 18.5' long and around 200 lbs. on the roof racks / T-hitch, it is very solid. The T-hitch assembled in 15 minutes. Had my neighbors, both engineers, not come over to "help" with the roof rack install it would have been done in an hour. Lesson learned, keep the software developers over in their yard during install, away from power tools, no drilling allowed. Rhino systems and support staff are outstanding. Definitely recommend these products and the company. 439535

Nice quality product and I like how it attaches to the vehicle. It was easy to install. The unexpected downside is, these racks are slightly large diameter than those by Yakima. I own 4 or 5 Yakima accessories that I just assumed would mount on these as well, but none of them fit and there don't seem to be any adapters that will work. 426434

The Rhino Rack is a well designed product and very well made - The fit for my car worked well and it took about 45 minutes to assemble, adjust and install. It will work well for transporting bikes and surfboards. The assembly kit included a long shaft hex wrench and handle which made assembly and installation much easier. 707091

This roof rack is very solid and well-made. It was reassuring when I looked up my car online and saw a video of it being installed on that very car. The instruction manual is a little hard to follow and could be simplified, in my opinion. That said, the instructions and recommended measurements seem to be spot on. 705223

I bought this roof rack for my kayak. Previously, I was just using ratchet straps through the car. I finally got fed up because when it would rain the water would drain in through the straps into the car. I looked a long time and did a lot of research. The Rhino is definitely the best bang for your buck. Super rigid, easy to install, simplifies travel, and looks great. Etrailer, even with the 4th of July, sent the rack quickly. The direction specific for my Honda Cr-V was also very comprehension. Thank you! 539768

I am getting a bit of whistling at around 15-20 mph, but it doesn't happen all the time and can only hear it if sunroof is open. Do not notice any additional noise compared to no roof rack if my sunroof is closed, even if windows are open. Feels very strong once installed and install is pretty straightforward. Still feel it deserves 5 stars as I believe some noise is expected. 703040

The racks fit perfectly! They are a great fit to my car. They don’t interfere with the sunroof’s operation. I assembled it on my own with no difficulty. It was easy to assemble. The directions it provides to you are easy to follow. The only down side was getting the plastic pieces to lock on the ends of the bars. Other than that they are great and they look great on my car! I plan to use them to transport kayaks! They are very sturdy and very trust worthy for transporting a couple of kayaks. I recommend these racks to anyone who has a 2016 or 2017 Nissan Altima! 487588

These things are strong and quiet! I have them mounted on my Land Rover Discovery Sport using the SRB legs by Rhino Rack. I've had furniture, lumber, ladders, tools, canoe, and a roof rack piled up there at some point or another and I don't have to worry about them slipping at all!!!! I've done this so much that the rubber strips are showing some wear and have frayed a bit where they've pinched the aluminum, but it's still rock solid. That's my only grip. Hopefully the replacement strips are affordable when I replace them in a year or two. I'd buy another Rhino Rack product in a heartbeat. They look great on my car and are strong and quiet on the road. I feel I made the right choice. 604273

So far so good. The Aero 2500 racks went on in a couple of hours as I was not in a rush, wanted to do it properly and understand all I needed to to remove and reinstall these in the future. I did manage to get the Rhinorack logo facing backward on the front and forward on the back. Sorry, didn’t intend to but I’m not going to reverse them at this point. I did not take pics of these on my 2017 Prius. But they look good, less clunky than my old square Thule racks. 512463

I bought the Rhino-Rack for my 2014 KIA Soul "with a sun roof" and my wife and I installed it in about a half hour. it was soo easy and fits like it was manufactured just for my car. Everything I saw said that it was not for cars for the sun roofs but i measured and checked several friends before I ordered and bought and there looks to be no problems. Excellent price and quick shipping. Excellent support for missing bar end cap. Rack was easy to put together and install and video was helpful. My only complaint is when trying to tie down kayak to cradle it is not easy to keep the loop over the top of the upright "U" shaped bar, it keeps siding down. We wrapped two pieces of foam around the bar to create a channel to hold the strap now it is easy. 557941

Review from a similar Rhino Rack Vortex Aero in Ladder Racks

The rhino rack is well made but suffers from the flat bottom rubber feet. Since nearly all cars and trucks have roof seams, foot pads should be stepped to engage the seam like other racks such as Thule does. It's unlikely that very many different shapes would be needed to fit most vehicles. Rhino tech didn't agree with my assessment. 420713

Rack is working out very well. My issue with the flat rubber pads really cant be resolved because the seams on the Ram arent deep enough to allow a stepped pad. Ive also had a problem with the filler rubber strips coming out when sliding boats on. Overall, its a very good rack.

THE GENIUS OF A PERFECT SOLUTION It is not very often that a purchase for something as mundane as a utility device stirs such awe inspired appreciation and praise. I have just completed the installation of the RLCP Rhino Heavy Duty Canopy/Hard Tonneau Track Mount atop my A.R.E. Camper Shell. I am amazed at the attention to detail of each and every part which has been carefully engineered and perfectly manufactured. I am truly impressed by the genius of a perfect solution to my roof top cargo handling needs! From the mating surfaces of the injection molded towers and the lightweight, but durable extruded anodized aluminum crossbars, to the gentle contour of the rail stock to the camper rooftop, every single part has form, fit and function! The finished product is beautiful, durable, convenient, and for the money invested, economical. I give Five Stars of Praise to the Aussie friends at Rhino-Rack Australia Pty, Ltd. Equally praiseworthy is the superb performance of e-trailers, Inc. These folks distinguish themselves from the competition through their superior attributes of website presentation, pricing, order fulfillment and package integrity. This is a unique distribution partnership which is imbued with the highest standards of e-commerce. Job well done, everyone! 528546

I love my Rhino Vortex roof racks. They look great, are sturdy, and there is no wind noise up to 70 mph (haven't been on the freeway yet). eTrailer was great and made the proper component selection easy. Now, the -1 star... The instructions provided by Rhino were horrible or non-existent. The cross bar literally had no instructions and I couldn't even find them for my model online. Between being a handy guy and watching other Rhino videos on YouTube, I figure it out. Maybe most people have professional installers put them on. 375802

I bought the Rhino Rack 2500 Series Legs, the Vortex Aero Crossbars, the 2500 Series Custom Fit Kit for the 2500 Series Legs, and a Thule Portage Canoe Carrier. All items arrived when George said they would, and I was given status updates throughout the whole process. The website was helpful in letting me know that these kits are NOT all in one kits. That is probably the best feature of the site in that it lets you know based on your vehicle what total number of kits you will need. All said, the racks and carrier worked well in transporting my canoe across state lines. I highly recommend the site. 486963

The Rhino Rack is very well made. I installed it my self on our 2016 Ford Escape, but had an assist from my wife to fine tune it at the end. There was no whistling or any other distracting wind noise on our 3,500 mile drive to visit family out West. A Sear's Cargo Box was easily mounted to the Rhino Rack and it remained centered and secured at western highway speed limits plus. The included locks on the roof mounts were the selling point for me. The Rhino Rack remained securely mounted to the roof with no additional adjustments or tightening being needed. Great Product. Donna P. @ etrailer was super with the order. 548034

These crossbars were easy to install, are sturdy when installed and look great on my factory side rails when installed with the SX Series legs. The standard end caps are an all-plastic affair and use a little key to engage a cam lock. That plus the distance from the end of the crossbar to the nut that tightens the foot onto the rail keeps things relatively secure. Most people probably want to opt for proper locking end caps, though. The rubber vortex strips look nice and give items something grippy to rest on. I haven't tried a load test yet but did drive around in moderate wind on the highway in multiple directions. Other than a slight whistle at 70 mph, you'd never know they were there. Overall, real happy with the product and looking forward to hauling some stuff around with them. 248807

My Rhino-Rack Aero 2500 roof racks fit solidly on my 2007 Honda Civic EX. I was really impressed with the construction and strength of the rack system. Also the versatility of the 'legs' with a swivel pad allow them to fit any roof pitch perfectly. The clamps are so solid, nothing could knock these racks off. Review from a similar Rhino Rack Vortex Aero in Ladder Racks

These slick looking, quality made, aluminum, aero bars came with the RLCP25 kit, to fit my FJ Cruiser. It didn't have the big, bulky, useless for carrying much of anything factory rack. I like the look of the full size racks/ baskets, but didn't want to spend $800 + truck freight to get one. These cross bars are perfect for carrying my 14' canoe, plus whatever else with various cargo carrying accessories. They are light, yet combined carry near 100+ lbs. of gear. There is a rubber strip in the top slot, bottom slots and plastic strips to seal those, once you slide the feet in the correct distance to be even on both sides for your vehicle, and black, plastic end caps to finish it off. You'll need a tape measure and 10mm socket wrench to attach to the feet, then re-tighten periodically for safety. They look great on mr ride, and I can deal with the rubbing/ humming sound, after putting them on, although it does sound like my tires rubbing the fender wells... 84838

  • I have a solution for you. However, we do not carry traditional ladder racks designed to fit over camper shells. To carry bikes and kayaks over your camper shell, I recommend the Rhino-Rack Roof Rack System # Y02-490B. This rack will mount to the roof of your camper shell. It is important to remember that the weight capacity of the rack will be dependent on the weight capacity of your camper shell. When choosing bike racks and kayak carriers, it is important to keep in mind the size...

  • Recommended Roof Rack And Kayak Loader For Volkswagen Camper Van
  • I found the item you mentioned online. It is exactly what you thought. It is a ladder loader made by Rhino-Rack for the Australian market. The video shows the carrier using a kayak in the loader. We do not offer this loader in the US. I do have a solution that will work for your VW Camper Van. I recommend the Rhino-Rack Roof Rack System, part # Y02-490B and the Rhino-Rack Side Rail Kayak Loader, part # RRSLH01. The # Y02-490B is designed for camper shells and hardtop resin roofs and...

  • Mounting Rhino-Rack Track Mounted Roof Rack # Y02-490B to Naked Dodge Durango Roof
  • The Rhino-Rack Roof Rack System w/ 2 Vortex Aero Crossbars - Track Mount - Black - 59" Long # Y02-490B can be installed on your Dodge Durango roof using alternate hardware like the Replacement PlusNut Hardware Kit for Yakima Roof Rack Tracks # Y8880039 if desired. It will be a custom application so the rating of the system may not be identical to the factory ratings, but it can be done. The issue would be with any warranty since it won't be installed to manufacturer specs.

  • One of the most popular truck cap ladder/roof racks that we currently have for your 2008 Chevrolet Silverado is the Rhino-Rack Roof Rack System # Y02-490B. This comes with two Black 59" aero style crossbars that install on legs that can slide back and forth in the included track. To carry your kayaks I recommend using the Rhino-Rack J-Style...

  • Cargo Box & Basket Mounting Options for Fiberglass Shell on 1995 Ford F-150
  • It is certainly possible to mount a rooftop cargo basket like Thule's Canyon # TH859XT or one of their enclosed cargo boxes like their Force XT# TH6356B on a fiberglass camper shell. Either way a good starting point, if possible, is to check with the shell manufacturer for any guidance regarding its weight carrying capacity and for suggested mounting options for a carrier. You'll need to drill holes in the shell for mounting a cargo basket or box. In terms of weight, keep in mind...

  • Roof Rack and Kayak Carrier Recommendation for Carrying Kayaks with Truck Bed Canopy
  • We have crossbar sets that will fit on top of a truck canopy that you could then install a kayak carrier on, but we do not have racks for fitting inside a canopy. For example we have the Yakima HardTop SL Roof Rack # Y01618 which would be a great option. The Malone SaddleUp Carrier part # MPG110MD would then be a great option for a carrier.

  • I do have an option for you but the Thule Tracker II System has been discontinued and although there are still a few replacement parts floating around, you will have a very difficult time finding everything you need to reuse your old mounting feet and crossbars.
