  • Stromberg Carlson
  • 2 Jacks

Electric, fifth-wheel landing gear set's motor has an IP-rated switch for fast, easy, and safe operation. Each leg is 33-1/2" tall, offers 19-7/8" of travel, and has a 15" drop leg for extra lift. Combined weight capacity is 5.5K.

Features:

    • Travel: 19-7/8"
    • Drop leg: 15"
  • Combined weight capacity: 5,500 lbs
  • 1-Year warranty

Note: Landing gear is designed to stabilize a portion of your trailer's weight, not to support the full GVWR of your trailer. Do not use landing gear to lift your trailer or RV during tire changes or service work because doing so will exceed the capacity of the landing legs.

Stromberg Carlson's landing gear was designed with safety in mind. The motor, manufactured by Lippert, won't trip circuits or cause problems with the coach's electrical systems. In addition, the IP-rated switch will not spark, so it can be mounted safely in the bottle-gas area.

Convenience is also a hallmark of this product. An inner drop leg on each jack makes leveling easy by allowing the jack feet to reach the ground quickly and at varying heights, saving time and thus reducing the draw on the trailer's battery. The cage pins that secure the drop legs can be replaced with spring-loaded pull pins (LG-119113 - sold separately) that allow for single-handed operation. Large, rectangular, pivoting footpads are included, but you can use larger, 9-inch-diameter pads (LG-210475 - sold separately) instead if you often camp on soft ground.

This system and its parts were designed to be compatible with most of the other fifth-wheel landing gear on the market, including Atwood and Lippert. If you're replacing your old landing gear, you can install this set from Stromberg Carlson using your existing mounting hardware.

The product I ordered fit my older camper without any modifications. It was easy to install and very pleased. The only drawback was the UPS 3 day shipping which took 7 days and part of the assembly was missing as the box had ripped open. etrailer had no control over this situation but went out of their way to make it right.

Customer service is great! Landing Gear is quality made and happy with the purchase, took less than 2 hours to remove the old landing gear and install the new. I was thinking it would raise up and down a little faster, but it sure beats hand cranking.

Shipped promptly. I read several unfavorable reviews regarding difficulty in telephone communications and time of delivery. However, even though I did experience difficulty in telephone communications, the email line proved to be quite satisfactory, with response in less than 5 hours. The delivery time was very good.

Review from a similar Deluxe Electric Landing Gear in Camper Jacks

Let me start by saying this review is about the product, not e-trailer. etrailer is great. I love doing business with them. Their prices beat anybody, and the free and FAST shipping is a bonus. Now to the review of the LG-3 landing gear. The pros of this product are they are a direct replacement for the Lippert system on my trailer. No cutting, drilling or welding. They fit in the original brackets. I installed them while camping in about 2 hours with simple hand tools. The cons are they are a direct replacement for the Lippert system on my trailer. They use the same weak motor, that struggles to lift my trailer. The kit was missing bolts and pins and I had to use my old hardware until I could get back to town to buy new hardware. I wanted to go with the Bulldog 10K system, but wanted something that work with my Lippert remote system. The original system failed. I suspect this one will too. Next time I will go with something heavy enough to do the job. Check out the before and after pics and the pic of what can happen when your jacks fail and you have to resort to using hydraulic jacks to lift your trailer. A $4000.00 repair that could have been much worse.

Comments
So far these are working. I got the higher torque model, which operates at a lower speed. I dont necessarily like the slower speed, but hey, at least they go up and down and the trailer hasnt fallen on my truck again. I am still disappointed that this landing gear is supplied by the manufacturer. It is woefully inadequate. As a side note, it is impossible to raise these legs with the coat hanger they give you for a hand-crank. This thing is ridiculous. That is why I keep a set of bottle jacks on-hand just in case of emergencies, and hope I never have to use them again.
Steve B - 09/20/2018

Thanks so much for the follow up. If you do need to use your bottle jacks in an emergency situation, we do recommend to chock your trailer wheels and minimize all trailer movement as much as possible since bottle jacks are less stable than your primary landing gear.

Before I purchased my Stromberg Carlson Camper Jacks I messaged your company to request information on my project and how I was going to use the jack system. Unfortunately I received no response from your company but purchased the jacks anyway and installed them on my project to complete it.

Review from a similar Deluxe Electric Landing Gear in Camper Jacks

This landing gear was perfect for my trailer. They are really strong and can lift just about anything. I will say though, they are very slow. The electric motor isn't all that slow but doing it by hand takes a long time. But that's just a backup anyways.

Review from a similar Deluxe Electric Landing Gear in Camper Jacks

These jacks were a direct bolt-on replacement for the Atwood jacks on my fifth wheel. One year later, they are working fine. When considering this purchase, it was not clear if the landing gear would fit or if welding would be necessary. I called Stromberg-Carlson and they sent the technical drawings right away. Answered the question immediately. I will never forget their fine customer service.

Review from a similar Deluxe Electric Landing Gear in Camper Jacks

LG-1 (5500 lb capacity 5th wheel landing gear) came in a previously opened box. Parts clanking around loosely inside. None appeared damaged but the lead leg LG-179013 did not operate smoothly. The follower leg, LG-179014, was good. I called etrailer about both issues, open box and bad lead leg. They shipped a replacement leg from their stock a few days later. It arrived in good packaging and worked smoothly. They sent a prepaid shipping label to return defective part. The legs were easy to install. I actually wanted to buy the Stromberg Carlson LG-5 Landing Gear Dual Power Conversion Kit but etrailer did not sell that model. I chose to by the full leg kit and use only the powered leg to convert my 5th wheel to dual power landing gear. It works great. I am disappointed that I received an open box with a bad part but etrailer responded nicely and quickly. That will keep me coming back.

Comments
A year later I am pleased with etrailer-Stromberg Carlson landing gear. Having two motors, one on each leg, has made hooking and unhooking a breeze. The motor that came with the kit is loud compared to the factory Keystone Cougar motor but it still works great.

Review from a similar Deluxe Electric Landing Gear in Camper Jacks

I found the product was of good to excellent quality. However when reviewing the installation directions it had no directions on how to wire the elec. motor to the control switch. I found the wiring instructions on the motor manufacturing web site. I would recommend that these instructions be with the installation instructions. Also when connecting the left & right landing gear together with the provided 1" square tube the bars were not long enough to make the span on a standard 5th wheel camper. I had to use my existing bar. I would use etrailer.com again and I hope this helps them make corrections to this package.

Review from a similar Deluxe Electric Landing Gear in Camper Jacks

I have a 2010 Bighorn 3055rl and these jacks were an exact match to the failed jacks so installation was simply a reverse of the removal. All of the necessary parts were included for a full replacement. The quality seems similar to the originals. I hope they last longer and they should as I have changed how I operate them. In my opinion, they did not come with enough grease on them and that may also be part of the reason the original jacks failed. I put plenty of grease on these.

Still working as expected.

Review from a similar Deluxe Electric Landing Gear in Camper Jacks

I purchased this landing gear to replace the RBW landing gear on a 1998 Mallard made by Fleetwood. Only one side of the RBW was bad, but I was unable to find parts to repair it. I had to weld new brackets to the legs to match the existing U brackets that were already welded to the frame of the 5th wheel. Everything went smoothly with the installation until I went to hook up the square tubing for the cross bar that ties the legs together. The tubing was about 8" too short to reach from one leg to the other. Luckily I was able to use the cross bars from the original RBW gear. I am not sure why the Stromberg Carlson cross bar was so short because my 5th Wheel is a standard width. Other than that it looks like a good product.

Review from a similar Deluxe Electric Landing Gear in Camper Jacks

First of all I want to say that any of the following comments by me is NOT a reflection on etrailer.com whose support and product shipping has been excellent. It is more as a informational thing than anything. I installed this unit on my 2007 28' Thor Transport toy hauler after it fell off the jacks and destroyed the landing gear (that just made me so happy, you just don't know the joy..). My first comments are for Thor, I want to thank them for the absolute cluster (you know what) of an install of the original gear. Totally inaccessible and the worst engineered and assembled garbage ever. The original gear was tack welded at the stops and the carriage bolts for the mounting brackets were installed so that you could not remove them, they all needed to be cut off, a real dream job in an inaccessible location. In addition, I had to remove the 5500 onan generator and the (2) 7.5 gallon propane tanks and the sheet metal enclosures and doors. Next I would like to thank Lippert and Stromberg Carlson for continuing their questionable design of these legs which are only supported by one tab (on the legs) and one bracket on each leg in the load bearing direction (the other tab supports the leg when in the non-load bearing position. And for the 2 extra bolts (1/4-20 x 1 1/2" with jam nuts) that no one seems to know where they go. Also, there is a lot to be desired with the instructions, but that's just me I guess. Be sure to accurately measure your existing brackets prior to getting started because this could be a game changer if they are off by more than a 1/4" or more, you would have to have your brackets cut off and re-welded. As for my Thor, they were off by about 1/8" and I was able to grind off the bottom of the lower tab (on the leg) to make them fit into my existing brackets. After completing the job (3 days in 105 degrees) I still have some questions about the carriage bolts that were shipped, if I were to do it again I would change the bolts to a much stronger bolt, but it's to late for me now. Etrailer had the best price and fastest shipping and were very helpful, would I buy again from them, you bet...

Review from a similar Deluxe Electric Landing Gear in Camper Jacks

Thank you Shery and etrailer for reordering, at the same price, the LG-1 so it would arrive on time. It works great on my 2004 Montana. I did have a problem with lining up the the legs to the already welded on brackets, but with a minamum amount of ajustment (some filing of bolt holes and hammering on leg) I was able to secure solidly. My decision to replace the entire landing gear assembly in stead of just the broken lead leg was based on the age of my RV and the cost to do so (it was a great price). I will continue to use your service in the future and reccomend it to anyone I can. Thanks again for the great service.

Review from a similar Deluxe Electric Landing Gear in Camper Jacks

I have a 2008 Keystone Montana Mountaineer 345DBQ. My Lippert Landing gear had broken with age and wear causing my truck and fifth wheel had become one. I was desperate to get the landing gear fixed for a trip in 6 days. Sandy J assisted me on the phone on a SUNDAY afternoon and was able to have the parts on my doorstep by noon on the following Thursday. The installation took me less than two hours and the landing gear works perfectly. It is quiet and operates very smoothly. I recommend etrailer to my family and RVing friends. They saved my vacation!

  • How to Confirm Fit of Stromberg Carlson Electric Landing Gear Set LG-2
The Stromberg Carlson Electric Landing Gear Set # LG-2 has a 5500-lb lift capacity so it will be fine for use on a trailer with 2200-lbs of actual pin weight. To confirm a fit verify that on your existing landing gear the distance between the mounting brackets (from the underside of top bracket to topside of the lower bracket) is 22-1/2 inches. If this is the case, the landing gear should fit just fine.
