Motor and switch kit arrived today! Installed the motor and switch kit, wired the switch in (aside from needing connectors for the wire ends) all exceeded my expectations. This was a nice upgrade for my 2006 Vanguard Frontier 5th wheel. Whoot whoot, I now have power landing legs! :-)

I soon got tired of cranking the front legs of my 5th wheel camper by hand. Could not find anything at several camper dealers so I went online and found etrailer. There I found a 12 volt electric motor that would just bolt onto my existing lift mechanism. It fit perfectly without altering anything on my lift. I mounted the switch on the outside and hooked up the two wires to the battery that was right there and it was done. Works great. Wish I had found about this years ago and wondering why camper manufacturers don't install these at the factory since the cost so little. Thanks etrailer.

The product was exactly what I was looking for. it was not available when I ordered it but I was notified that it was coming from the manufacturer and anytime I contacted to inquire how the order was coming I received an immediate reply. I am extremely pleased with the service I received.

The product has worked great for me. Used it to turn hand jacks on my 5th wheel to electric and have experienced no problems with product to date.

Can't really rate the product as it wouldn't fit my Arctic Fox 27-5L trailer when the description said it fits most 5th wheel trailers. Motor is about half the weight of my factory motor so don't think it would hold up if it did fit. Wiring with switch looked good though. I wanted to keep the switch assembly but have to return it with the motor. I evidently have an RBW motor of some flavor according to the mfg who doesn't use it anymore. I may wind up replacing the whole landing gear assembly and motor. I'll be looking for a heavier duty unit than this SC unit though.

The directions for the switch were easy to understand. The switch worked fine and was a great improvement. Delivery was fast as always and the salespeople are extremely helpful! I will purchase again from etrailer as they are top notch people to deal with. Bud

I installed this wiring and motor kit on my 2013 Puma 5th wheel with a Lippert landing leg system. The motor bolted on the gear box perfectly and the wiring harness was easy to install. Took me about hour. This sure beats using an electric drill. Now everything looks Factory..

Product worked very well and did what I had expected for a small motor. Installation was very simple to figure out according to directions. Very impressed with motor- days of hand cranking are over. Very pleased with product and would do business again with etrailer. Customer service was excellent. Rep was well informed of products and even suggested one similar to the one we called about that saved us money! She was very patient answering all our questions. Very happy with your customer service!

  • How To Wire A Landing Gear Switch On a 2007 Keystone Montana
The Motor and Switch Kit for Stromberg Carlson Landing Gear - 5,500 lbs # LG-217884 you asked from is pretty straight-forward with the red and black connecting to the motor and the switch # LG-145236 having an additional pink and black wire. The pink wire goes to the battery positive terminal and the black wire coming from the bottom of the switch goes to ground either on the trailer frame or to the negative battery terminal which will be connected to the trailer frame. The middle wires...

  • Stromberg Carlson Landing Gear Motor Will Not Function and Blows Fuses
If you wired your landing gear switch backward that should not have anything to do with your fuses blowing. Whether the switch is wired correctly or incorrectly the same amount of power is going through it to the jack motor. What is more likely is that your power source for the jack motor is not able to deliver enough current to operate the motor. An under-charged or under-rated 12V battery will deliver the right voltage to the motor but it may not be able to deliver the current required....

  • Can a Second Motor be Added to Stromberg-Carlson Landing Gear to Operate Individually
If you have Stromberg-Carlson landing gear # LG-1 then you could use motor # LG-217884 but you would also need gearbox, # LG-179015 and would have to have a professional welder weld on the mounting brackets for the motor and gearbox to match the other leg. If you did this you would not need the connecting rod for both jacks. You would probably want to extend the switch wires so that both switches are next to each other.

  • Troubleshooting No Power to Jacks With Generator
Sorry to hear about the hair loss but I'm sure it can grow back after you figure out the issue. It sounds like you have narrowed it down quite a bit if the switch, fuses and motor all seem to be fine and the jacks work when plugged into the truck. I don't know what jacks you have, what generator you are using or how the jacks are connected but the wiring seems like the only thing that can be causing the problem. Either you do not have a good ground somewhere or you have crimped or broken...
