Video Transcript for Replacement Switch for Stromberg Carlson Electric Landing Gear Review

Today we're going to review part number LG-145236. This is the Stromberg Carlson Replacement Switch for the Stromberg Carlson electric landing gear. This part will replace the IP-rated switch for your tandem landing gear. It is designed for use with the Stromberg Carlson LG-1 landing gear, and we do sell that product separately on our website. The switch is a toggle switch as you can see. When you push it, you can extend, and push it to retract.

It does come with about a 4' length of wire and it comes with the wires to connect to the motor, and then the wires to connect to the power source. This will also work with most other brands of electric landing gear including Atwood and Lippert. Comes with everything shown here, the switch with the harness, the instructions and set of screws for mounting it. The switch, give you a measurement. On the mounting bracket itself is 2 1/4" wide by about 3 1/4" tall. That should do it for the review on part number LG-145236.

This is the Stromberg Carlson Replacement Switch for the Stromberg Carlson electric landing gear.

@JimmieD Glad to hear it!

by:

Top notch quality, and great service.

These
parts were used to upgrade a 5th wheel camper with manual crank for the landing legs. The motor fit perfectly my Atwood landing legs gear drive, and the switch was an easy install, with good directions on wiring install.

They are working like a champ. Thak goodness, there will be no more manual cranking of the landing legs for me… ;)

by:

Bought these to run dual landing gear motors. Switch was pre wired for reverse polarity motors, making install easy. Fast shipping and well made.

by:

Switch is exactly what I needed. I bought my fifth wheel camper used and the original owner must have added the power feature to the landing gear. He used a regular DPDT toggle switch and cobbled up a mount. Switch was not rated high enough for the max DC amps that the landing gear motor was rated for. I decided that I needed to install a proper landing gear switch kit and etrailer's experts answered my product question promptly as this was the only switch that was listed as weatherproof. I needed to install in existing switch location and did not have a switch compartment. Switch seems quality and is proper rated to handle the landing gear motor. Wires are heavy gauge also which I like. It seems that my landing gear travels faster than it did with the old switch and lighter gauge wiring.

Works the way it should. Nice to not burn out an underrated switch twice a season. Has worked flawlessly for over a year. Rain or shine.

by:

etrailer got my order late on a Friday, mailed it on Saturday and sent me tracking info. Great service. My landing gear was not a Stromberg Carlson, so I had to drill a couple of hole, shorten some really long wires, and reverse the wires to the motor, but it all worked fine and solved my problem. Very grateful for having it behind me in such a short time.

Have not used it for about 3/4 of the past year, but assume that it still works fine. Thank you for your excellent service

by:

Great customer service. Chelsea is very knowledgeable about the replacement part that we needed. Super quick at processing the order and getting the items ordered, to us earlier than expected. Excellent!!!

by:

Gear box worked great. It was the legs that was the problem. Replaced the legs with the bulldog individual leveling and everything is working great.

by:

Installed new switch yesterday, exact match and easy to install. Product received in less than a week . E trailer is great a company and Crystal was very impressive to work with, knowledgable, polite and polite. She is an asset to your company. Will definitely use e trailer whenever needed !

Still working flawlessly, will definitely use your company again when needed

by:

Product recommended was perfect fit for my 2007 5th wheel. Fast shipping. All parts and hardware included. Easy installation to replace my existing landing gear, motor and switch. Great company to buy from. Thanks Etrailer

by:

Product was top-shelf quality and a huge improvement over the OEM switch my Geneisis Supreme came with. E-Trailer was terrific to deal with and order shipped promptly. If you need a replacement Landing Jack switch, this product will satisfy!!!

by:

Outstanding Performance

by:

Switch works well. However, no wiring instructions were included. I wired red-red, and black-to-black. This caused jacks to go up when pressing down. A quick wiring switch made everything work correctly. Flawless ever since.

by:

Fast shipping. Improved quality switch with instructions included.

John F.

6/28/2016

This switch is very well made and is superior to the OEM jack switch I replaced on my fifth wheel.

by:

At the time I traded the 5th wheel in they were performing as advertised.

by:

I replaced a lesser quality switch with this one and could not believe the difference it made. It's as though the previous switch was not letting full electrical current through to the motor. Now the motor is quieter and appears to work easier.

by:

This hard wire harness worked perfect for the application and I was able to connect it in about 5 minutes

by:

So far so good. Fifth wheel jack switch is working well.

by:

Excellent, Better Than The Original Equipment.

etrailer.com
is an exceptional place to buy parts, everything was as they advertised . service and delivery was very good.
keep up the good work, nice to deal with you folk, will use in future.

by:

Replaced switch for jacks on front of fith wheel. Colored coded to match old switch which made it an easy change out.

by:

Heavy Duty wiring , everything you need to replace the jack switch on a 5th wheel rv

by:

I installed the switch and ran the wires like the drawing showed and it works fine, goes up and down like it used to. Thanks, Will buy from again. Darrell
.

by:

Out of the box the item looks like a direct replacement for the bad switch. It was nice to see a wiring diagram included with the package.

by:

Easy installation, works great...better than the original switch.

by:

Haven't installed it yet... but appears to exactly match previous switch that I installed... now both jacks will be independently controlled. Fast service too!

by:

Perfect fit, works great.
Great Company
to deal with.

  • What Is The Difference Between The Landing Gear Set RVLG-8000 & RVLG-8HDL?
The only difference between the Replacement Crank Handle for etrailer and Ram 5th Wheel Landing Gear # RVLG-8HDL that you mentioned, and the Landing Gear Set # RVLG-8000 is that # RVLG-8HDL comes with the handle, whereas if you were to go with # RVLG-8000 you'd need to purchase the handle separate with # RVLG-HDL. Both of these systems are rated for the same 8,000lbs capacity limit, and have 36-1/2" of total lift. Additionally, both of these can also be upgraded from manual to electric...

  • Replacement Landing Gear Needed for 2006 CL4005 5th Wheel Trailer
I have a recommendation for a completely new landing gear set but if you're wanting to just replace your motor and gearbox then I'd need to know what exact 5th wheel landing gear kit you have installed to see if we have something that is compatible. For a replacement landing gear set I highly recommend the Landing Gear Set # RVLG-8000 because it uses the standard 15-1/2" and 17-1/2" weld-stop locations plus it has an 8,000 lb weight capacity. This comes with a gear box installed so you...

  • How to Choose Replacement Landing Gear for 5th Wheel Trailer
The first thing you want to do before you find a replacement is to check the rating on your current landing gear. You want the new landing gear to be rated for at least the same amount. You will also need to measure the weld stops to make sure they match up so you won't have to do any welding. For example, the Landing Gear Set w/ Handle # RVLG-8HDL you were looking at is rated for 8,000 lbs. If the landing gear is electrically operated and the motor makes noise but the legs do not move then it could just be that the battery does not have enough charge to run the landing gear. You can have the battery tested at an auto parts store. If the battery is fine and the motor makes no noise then you may just need to replace the switch. If you did raise the jacks too high then it could have damaged the threads on the screw and nut which would mean that you would need to replace the...

Then there is a black wire for the ground that will go to the negative battery terminal and ground to the trailer frame. The red wire will attach to the red wire on the motor and the other black wire to the black wire on the motor.

  • How to Determine Correct Landing Gear for Fifth Wheel Trailer
We may have landing gear that works for you, though there isn't any landing gear that will work with space between brackets of 21-1/2 inches, though I'm wondering if maybe you measured from the top of one bracket to the bottom of the other? That would make sense since brackets are about 2 inches, and where you might get 21-1/2 inches. But to determine the correct replacement landing gear, you will need to measure the mounting brackets on your trailer from the underside of the top bracket...
