Video Transcript for Complete Breakdown of the Replacement Lead Leg for Venture 5th Wheel RV Landing Gear

Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today, we're taking a look at the replacement lead leg. This is going to be for our venture fifth wheel RV landing gear, and this is going to be a direct replacement for that. So it'll be our lead leg that has the gearbox, the motor mounted on it, and then kind of gives the direction for our follow leg for that landing gear to help get everything stabilized and leveled out. Now, the main thing that I'm going to go over with you guys today are all the measurements for this.

It is going to be a standard size. So our outer tube has a length of 29 and a half inches going from the top to the bottom of this black outer tube. The width is two and a half inches, again, for that outer tube. The inner tube is two and a quarter. And then our drop leg, which is the innermost tube is two inches. As far as the heights and everything, we'll go over that in just a second.

We've also got two weld steps here, which are going to be a pretty standard size, and these are going to be on the outside of the landing gear. So this is going to be mounted in between your frame. So each of those weld stops will be our attachment point there, the outermost of the outside measurement, it's going to be 17 and a half inches. So from the very top of the top weld stops, the very bottom of the bottom weld stop is at 17 and a half inches. And then our inside measurement is going to be 15 and a half.

So from the bottom of the top to the top of the bottom. Now whenever this is fully extended, if we have the jack run all the way out to the end of that screw and then our drop leg, all the way out is going to be 68 inches long for that full extension. If we have the screw run out all the way so the jack is all the way up, but no drop there, it's going to be 52 and a quarter inches. And that I'm getting by having the drop leg, just one position out so that you can still have your foot plate in place. So it's just measuring from this bottom lip on the drop leg, to the top of the jack with one notch in there. Whenever this is fully retracted, measuring from the same point, so the screw is all the way in, it's going to be 32 and three quarter inches.

So that gives us a total travel of 35 and three quarter inches. And 16 of those inches come from our drop. We can adjust that drop leg. I'll come around and show you guys. By pulling the pin, this is included with our landing gear, and these are in inch increments here. So it should get you back to operational so you can enjoy the rest of your vacation with no issues and get that fifth wheel leveled out and stabilized again. Now, if you need the follow leg, that's going to have the same measurements as this one. That's also available here at etrailer.com sold separately. You can find that using part number LC119101, or one zero one. But that's going to do it for our look at the replacement lead leg for the venture fifth wheel RV landing gear..

Installed on our 2012 Dutchmen Voltage exact replacement. Awesome fit. Same comments as previous review for lead leg. Replaced entire leg versus rebuild due to wear. Highly recommend doing this before a failure on the road.

Working great trailer levels faster and much quieter. The old jacks were binding and causing leveling system to struggle trying to auto level.

by:

I really appreciate the help that y'all gave me.it was unfortunate about the shipping mishap but that was definitely not your fault. It was the courier (UPS). I really appreciate that y'all went out of your way to help us. Everyone involved from etrailer was really understanding, courteous and very helpful. Thank y'all again. Definitely be using your services in the future.

I called to make sure I was ordering the right part. Lauren patiently listened to what I needed, figured it out, and sent the right part. It took me 10 minutes to install the jack, I pushed the auto level button on the camper and “success”! Thank you so much!

by:

Great service every time we have used this company.

Very well. Easy to install also.

by:

This is better quality than the original. I did have to do a little grinding on the “tabs” to make them fit in between the tabs on the camper but it took all of 5 minutes. Would purchase again if I needed to.

by:

I paid up for delivery and I was surprised it got here to rural Nevada in two days. Thanks guys!!

by:

We have not installed yet but the service and shipping was great!

by:

This leg is meant to be a replacement for the Lippert Components Venture 5th Wheel RV landing gear. As long as your outer tube is 29.50 inches long then it will work for you. You would also want to measure the distance between the inside brackets as shown in the Q an A below.

by:

The landing jack on my fifth wheel camper was damaged. After watching the etrailer video explaining all the measurements on t,he landing jack , I ordered it and it fit perfectly with just one exception. I had to put the the gearbox and electric motor on the opposite side , but there was plenty room and it works great

After over a year my landing Jack is working perfectly no complaints. Neither the old Jack or new one has grease jerks to lubricate the gears so once a year I remove the Jack cover on top and spray chain lubricant on the gears and let it run down to the threaded shaft , the jacks run smooth now all the time

by:

Jessica was a 5 star. She was able to get it on the truck the last minute and I received my delivery 2 days ahead of schedule. Good reputable co.pany.

by:

I had to do some grinding to get it to fit between the brackets, and the hole for the breakaway screw was too small so I had to drill a bit to get that to fit as well. Because of that it took a couple hours and was very frustrating, but in all fairness, I had to replace it because it was bent from a 6.4 earthquake so my 5th wheel may have been tweaked. No excuse for the screw hole being too small unless it was an improper screw, but I doubt that. I'm pretty sure it was the original leg and parts that I replaced.

by:

Vicki took my order. I keep her number for any purchases. Order arrived in just 2 days! Wow! :-)

by:

This was a great purchase to replace the existing front end camper jacks. Replacement was very simple and operation is very smooth.

by:

The replacement leg fit my 5th wheel and has operated flawlessly since then.

by:

The part was an exact replacement for the bent landing gear on my 5th wheel. It was actually quite simple to replace, with just common mechanical skills (took me about an hour), and saved me quite a bit over having an expert replace it.

by:

This is an exact replacement for my Northwood Arctic Fox 27-5L front landing legs.

Fix was perfect.

by:

The Jack I ordered came in on time. It was easier to install then the old one was to remove. The research you all did for me to find the correct part was great. The new jack is now installed and working great. It took aprox 45 mins to complete the install. I would recommend etrailer for all your rv trailer needs. THANKS, ANTHONY

by:

OEM PRODUCTS WITH EXCELLENT TECH SUPPORT. ORDERED A REPLACEMENT LCI LEAD LEG FOR A FIFTH WHEEL WHICH WAS UNAVAILABLE THROUGH OUR NORMAL DISTRIBUTOR. TIMELY ARRIVAL AND FAIR PRICING.

by:

Received parts quicker the estimated shipping dates. Had to change the shafts between the leading leg and follow leg jack to get the to mount correct on my camper.

by:

Fast delivery and exactly what I needed! Big thanks to etrailer.com for finding a like in kind replacement for my unit! Install took literally 45min and I was back up and running!

by:

This is an exact match, made by Lipp.. Lipp. I have mounted both landing legs. fit great. To bad the supplier (Lipp) gave me the wrong item number for the second leg.
Their response team is so slow. Etrailer was great.

by:

Gwen gave me excellent support and follow up. Parts were delivery on the date promised. Terrific fit. Easy installation took about 1 1/2 hours to install.

by:

Was an exact replacement. Installation went perfect.
Thank you

  • Troubleshooting 5th Wheel Landing Gear That Retracts But Wont Extend
It could be some internal parts but it could also be the electrical system itself. The easiest way to know if the internal parts are the issue or not is to use the manual override to see if it will extend and retract without any electricity. If it does then you'll want to check your electrical connections but if it doesn't then it's something internal and you'll need to take the jack apart to see what needs to be replaced. Should you decide to replace your landing gear I recommend checking...
