Today we're going to take a quick look at the Lippert Components Venture Lead Leg repair kit for 5th-wheel RV landing gear. Now if you've had your landing gear for a long time or it's just not really working the way it should and the gears aren't really lining up they used to. It's getting harder and harder to deploy that landing gear out and retract it back in, an easy way to extend the life of that landing gear is to replace the components inside it.It's going to be a pretty easy job. It might be a little bit messy since there is some grease in there to keep everything lubricated and working as it should. But really, all you'll need is some extra grease and, maybe a pair of pliers and a screwdriver.Pop the top off of your landing gear. Remove the components. Be sure to clean those off.
Look for any spots of damage and try to make sure that you remember which part goes where. And then replace all your components in the same order that you took the old ones out.Included in our kit, we're going to get one drive shaft, which is going to be this longer piece here. We'll also get our two bevel gears. We're going to have our, sort of, smaller but fatter one. This is going to be our 12-T bevel gear, and then our 16-T bevel gear. We'll get our two drive shaft bushings, a shim washer, an E-clip, this spiral pin.
You can see it's a little rolled up spiral there. And also our drive pin.So again, all these components are going to fit in a specific order. Your drive pin is going to fit inside our larger washer like that. And then the spiral pin is going to fit inside our smaller bevel. And again, you just want to make sure to note the order the order that you take things out and just replace them the same way. This is going to be a lot easier and quicker, more affordable way to replace your damaged components and get your landing gear back to working as it should, rather than having to replace your entire assembly.Again if you do need any grease to pack in there to make sure everything is lubricated, you can also find that here at etrailer.com, so definitely check that out if you need to pick any up.This product is also made in the USA, and that's going to do it for our look at the Lippert Components Venture Lead Leg repair kit for 5th-wheel RV landing gear.

Installed on our 2012 Dutchmen Voltage exact replacement. Awesome fit. Used for rear and stabilizer landing legs. Completely disassembled, cleaned thoroughly entire thread. Existing gears showed normal wear but replaced any way. With new bushing provided back to like new.
The front lead and follow legs were replaced but plan to rebuild old with new gears and bushings will keep just in case of one of those days happens. Highly recommend doing this before a failure on the road.
Install very easy. Was very impressed with replacement but unfortunately it didn’t last Used 2 times and gears stripped out again and pin sheered off inside gear .
5th wheel camper was sitting level and when hooked up to truck to raise camper the pin popped and lead leg stopped retrieving. Motor still ok but rebuild gears are no good
Maybe cheap metal gear gogs snd pin who knows.
Back to finding a good rebuild kit
When my left front landing leg on my self leveling 30' 5th wheel started making noise and slipping, I figured right off that whatever gears were in the leg were stripping. I watched a couple of YouTube videos that just showed changing out the leg. I took the leg off, pulled the top cap off and saw very quickly what was wrong. I went to etrailer.com to look at replacing the leg. I saw the repair kit for a small fraction of the cost of a new leg and ordered it. Easy and quick fix. Just replace the old parts with the new ones in the kit, add a healthy glob of wheel bearing grease to the new gears and reinstall the leg. No special tools required. I'm 75 years old and had no problems.
If you have any mechanical aptitude, this is the way to go. This was the 2nd repair kit I installed and the fit is perfect. The leg is not that hard to remove and once you look at the configuration of the gears to be replaced, just do it. Take a picture of the gears if you think you will need it. Saves a lot of money and doesn't take that long. (1-3 hours depending on your ability)
The shipping was slower than expected, but that isn't etrailer's fault. The packaging was in great condition, the products that I ordered were high quality and exactly what I needed.
The parts are working great and the video help get the job done without any real complications. I did both the lead and following legs.
These are exact-fit parts and have worked very well.
Great customer service. My 1999 trailer is located in Mexico, it was difficult trying to figure out the correct parts and they were able to figure it out with a few photos. The parts were exactly what I needed and have been working as expected since. Thanks etrailer!
Kelly was very helpful with getting me the rebuilding kits for my jack she was very professional with helping me everything fit perfect ty
I had to modify the shaft where it shoulders up to the gear box. The gear box has a squared off shoulder, as to the shaft from this kit has a tapered shoulder. I was able to correct this with a bastard file.
Works great. Used to to separate the 2 landing legs on my 5th wheel trailer to allow for independent operation with 2 motors. This modification is done on the passenger side leg (the one without the motor). By adding these parts, you can now install the new motor (LG-142178) and gear box (LC276602) to operate each landing leg separately. -obviously you will need to install a second switch and the appropriate wiring. Great modification -should have been installed like this from the factory.

After a year of use, my landing gear is working great. Im so glad I purchaseinstalled the repair kit myself, as it was easy, and I saved hundreds in shop labor costs.
This was exactly what we needed. Shipped fast. The only thing that would have been easier was if you came and installed it. Lol

Works great, have had no issues. Trailer goes up and down like it should.
Would recommend this product rather than buying new landing jack. Very easy repair

Gears are still working great. God bless.
Rebuild kit was an exact fit and works perfectly, unfortunately the drive screw is binding up so I’ll be replacing the whole leg.
Delivered when promised
$50 dollars for a rebuild kit vrs $325 dollars for a complete jack leg, you do the math :) My trailer repair man stated his company couldn't get the rebuild kit and the entire jack leg would cost me $500 dollars retail price !!!! Not only did E-trailer have the jack leg and the rebuild kit, they were way lower priced than dealing with my on sight service tech. So, I bought the rebuild kit and did it myself and it works like it should !!!!!!
Have yet to install, hence the less excellent rating. However, the parts do feel quite solid. I ordered both the lead leg kit and follow leg kit just to get them both done and over with (its a 2004 model year)

The rebuilds are working as well as the ones I replaced at same time with new. Planned preventive maintenance beats a failure on the road. Keep them greased and replace if show significant wear.
