Troubleshooting 5th Wheel Landing Gear That Retracts But Wont Extend

Published 10/17/2022

Question:

There is no stamp or any information on the leg itself. The only thing I can see is the tag on the motor. I was actually thinking of buying this one LC119102 from you guys. Would it work?

It could be some internal parts but it could also be the electrical system itself. The easiest way to know if the internal parts are the issue or not is to use the manual override to see if it will extend and retract without any electricity. If it does then you'll want to check your electrical connections but if it doesn't then it's something internal and you'll need to take the jack apart to see what needs to be replaced.

Should you decide to replace your landing gear I recommend checking out the Bulldog Electric 5th Wheel Landing Gear Set # BD500170 since you can adjust the legs independently of each other for quicker leveling. These fit the standard 15-1/2" inner/17-1/2" outer weld-stop measurements so if you have something different just let me know!

Thank you for the reply and photo! The motor you have is the part # LG-142178 which is compatible with the # LG-1 and # LG-2 landing gear so you'll need one of the following legs depending on whether it's the lead or follow leg and what the height of the outer black tube is for your current jack: LG-1 (29-1/2" tall) Lead - # LG-179013 Follow - # LG-179014 LG-2 (33-1/2" tall) Lead - # LG-177202 Follow - # LG-177201 The Lead Leg for Venture 5th Wheel RV Landing Gear# LC119102 that you're looking at is 32-3/4" so it wouldn't be an exact match which will throw everything off. If you measure something different please let me know and I can help you look into this further.
