Today on our 2012 Dodge Ram 3500 Heavy Duty long bed crew cab well be installing the Hide-a-goose underbed gooseneck trailer hitch by Drawtite, part number 9464-35. To begin with weve already removed both of the dual rear wheels on each side as well as lowered the spare tire out of the way. Now to make things little bit easier were going to go ahead and remove the heat shield that goes around the spare tire to give us a little more access. There are a total of four bolts as well as one nut thatll need to be removed. Now with the heat shield out of the way, now were ready to go ahead and instead of just lowering the exhaust, we found its a little easier to just go ahead and unbolt it from the muffler and slide the whole rear section of the tailpipe out of the way. To get the tailpipe out of the way youll need to remove what looks like a small star washer off of the exhaust hanger.

Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Installation - 2008 Dodge Ram Pickup

Today on our 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Draw-Tite Hide-A-Goose Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Installation Kit part number 946435. Here's what this gooseneck is going to look like once it's installed on the truck. As you can see there's not a whole lot of visible up here in the bed except for the ball itself and then the safety chain loops here which are spring-loaded so when not in use they suck back down and being in the lower section of bed corrugation they stay pretty low and flush to make sure that they don't interfere with the use of your bed. Overall, this gooseneck is a really nice heavy-duty gooseneck hitch that has a 30,000lbs capacity and 7,500lbs vertical load limit so it's definitely going to be able haul just about whatever gooseneck trailer you're going to need to pull as long as your truck is rated for it. I like the way that this hitch is constructed because it's nice and it's really going to get the job done for anything you need to do. Also, the hole that needs to be drilled in the bed is a little bit smaller than those on some of the other goosenecks that are able to hide the ball. That's just going to help cut down on the area that needs to be cut out and help for a little bit cleaner look.

Then, all you have to do is release your handle and lock it in place. With it locked in place, your ball isn't going to go anywhere. It's going to have the nice spring-loaded chain tie downs on either side that are going to allow you to put those safety chains right under. The center locator is a great feature of this hitch.
