Video Transcript for Review of Redarc Trailer Brake Controller Parts - Universal Wiring Harness - RED69FR

Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. And we're going to be taking a quick look at the Universal Brake Wiring Harness for your Redarc brake controller. This allows you to connect your Redarc brake controller to any kind of vehicle even if it doesn't have a factory wiring harness. So you do have to connect these wires in. You will have to do some cutting and slicing to get those in place.

But it's pretty straightforward, so we'll talk about that in just a second. The other end is going to plug into that main unit on your Redarc brake controller. So just plugs in there and it's pretty easy.As far as the wires, you're going to have a white wire that goes to ground. The blue wire, which will connect to the brakes on your trailer. So this will run all the way back to your wiring socket on the back of your vehicle.

Red wire goes to your brake signal. So this goes to the actual electrical signal from your brake. And then this goes to a power source. Typically, from your battery or maybe from the fuse box on your vehicle. But a 12 volt power source, it's where that needs to go.

It does have complete instructions on how to get this installed, and some tips on how to do that. I would also suggest that you want to get some butt connectors to make those connections. And also a couple of zip ties to keep the wiring nice and tidy underneath your dash, so that it doesn't get tangled up with your pedals while you're driving, or your feet, or anything like that. You can find butt connectors and zip ties here at etrailer.com. So if you want to pick those up while you're here, not a bad idea. So that's pretty much all there is to it for our look at the Universal Wiring Braking Harness.

It is made in the USA, and it is covered by a two-year warranty. I hope this video has been helpful in deciding if this is the right one for you. We do have a couple of custom fit options, so check those out if you have a appropriate vehicle, but this one should work for just about anything out there. Thanks for watching..

It fits and does the job. A little pricey for what it is and it was a surprise that this part was not packaged with the Redarc Controller I purchased. Apparently the two more expensive Redarc controllers include this part. The harness I purchased for my Toyota Tundra fit the Toyota but did not include the termination to connect to the Redarc so this was an unanticipated requirement to complete the installation.

  • Recommended Wiring and Mount for Redarc Liberty Trailer Brake Controller on 2002 GMC 1500
The Toyota 4 Runner had a knock-out plug already present and then we simply added the Universal Mounting Panel for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controller Control Knob # 331-TPSI-001 which measures 1-1/4 by 1 inch. There is also the option of using the Mounting Panel for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controller Control Knob # 331-TPSI-002 for the more standard knock-out measuring 1-1/4 by 7/8 inch. These are made by Redarc which is based in Australia. These options give a more finished...

  • Redarc Tow Pro Liberty RED24FR Trailer Brake Controller on 2019 Jeep Cherokee
The Redarc Tow Pro Liberty Brake Controller, part # RED24FR is compatible with either electric or electric over hydraulic brakes, so it'll work just fine with your trailer. Electric over hydraulic brakes use a brake controller, but on the trailer there's a hydraulic pump that operates the brakes. If your Cherokee has the factory 7-way trailer connector, the only other part you'll need is the # RED67FR plug and play harness. The connector is located to the right of the steering wheel...

  • Can I Install the RedArc Tow Pro Liberty in a 2019 Honda Ridgeline
Yes. The RedArc Tow Pro Liberty # RED24FR is a great choice since it installs out of the way and provides you with proportional braking for your tandem axle trailer. You'll want to use the Plug-and-Play Wiring Harness for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controller # RED59FR if you've got a factory 7 way connection on your 2019 Honda Ridgeline, otherwise you would need to hard-wire the controller in using # RED69FR. To clean up the mounting of the knob of the Tow Pro Liberty you'll want...

The Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR comes with everything except the wiring harness you referenced. For that you will want the Wiring Harness for Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Trailer Brake Controllers # RED69FR if you need the splice together harness If you have the factory tow package then you would simply use the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers - Dual Plug In # 3062-P instead which requires no splicing.
