Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2016 Acura MDX

Today on our 2016 Acura MDX, we're going to take a look at the CURT Echo proportional brake controller. This is designed for one, up to two axles. The part number is C51180. The Echo being a proportional brake controller is going to be a lot safer than what we're used to with the old time delay brake controllers. Basically with the Echo, it's going to brake in proportion to how your vehicle's braking, so it has a sensor inside. If we slam on the brakes, we're going to get a lot of braking power back to our trailer very quickly.

Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller Installation - 2016 Acura MDX

Speaker 1: Today on our 2016 Acura MDX, we're gonna be installing REDARC's Tow Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller, part number 331-EBRH-ACCV2. This brake controller is gonna allow you to hook up any trailer with up to three axles and provide power brake assist. What sets this REDARC unit apart from other braking systems is how clean it looks on the install, all the options of places you can put the small remote monitor control knob, and the way the actual control unit doesn't need to be mounted right here underneath the dash, right in your way. You can tuck it up underneath your dash 'cause you don't even need to access it.The control module mounted underneath the dash has an internal inertia sensor that will allow it to be fully proportional when braking on your trailer. You can adjust the brake force from 10 to zero on the control knob, and if you press in on the knob and hold it, that will manually apply the brakes. This is great for testing everything out and making sure it's working properly.

Curt Spectrum Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2016 Acura MDX

Speaker 1: Today on our 2016 Acura MDX, we're going to be installing Curt's Spectrum trailer brake controller, part number C51170. To help us to complete this installation, we're going to be using Curt's universal wiring adapter for Curt trailer brake controllers, part number C51515. This is what it's going to look like when your brake controller's installed. You're only going to be able to see the control knob and its indicator LEDs. The control module and all the wiring is going to be hidden away inside your vehicle. What's really great about this brake controller compared to others on the market is its remote mounted control knob, because many brake controllers, you're limited to the location where you can mount it because of its large size. They also have many orientations in which they need to be mounted.

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2016 Acura MDX

Today on our 2016 Acura MDX, we are going to be taking a look at installing the Draw-Tite Activator Trailer Brake Controller, part number 5504. In conjunction with that, we are going to be installing the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller 7-way RV and 4-way flat, part number ETBC7. In conjunction with that, we are going to be installing the pigtail for Tekonsha and Draw-Tite Brake Controllers, part number 7894, to attach all these together. Now, this braking system is a time delayed system. You can adjust the amount of energy that is going to apply to your trailer brakes and how fast it comes on, all adjustable by your switches on top. It's going to adjust your gain and that's going to adjust the intensity of how fast it will come on as far as how do you like your settings to be. As you apply your brakes, you'll see it climb up and that is going to let you know that it is applying your brakes on your trailer, and you can adjust it up or down to suit your needs.
