Good part. Appears to work well.

I purchased these hubs, spindles, wheels and tires for a machine that I'm building. Initially, I tried to source them locally, but nobody had all six items that I needed. So I turned to etrailer again, and was very well pleased. All the items are of very high quality and work together without any modification. And the price, including the (free) shipping from etrailer was less than any local vendor, and they were delivered in less than a week. etrailer comes through once again! Thank you, etrailer!

by:

Should do the job. One of the two had some surface rust on it in the bearing area. Nothing real bad just needs some scotchbrite

  • What Does a Damaged Trailer Spindle Look Like
Yes, that spindle does look too beat up to be usable. I attached a link to this page that has all of the spindles we carry. You would need to pick out the one that matches the axle capacity on your trailer. It looks like maybe a 2,200 or 2,000 lb axle possibly like the # TRU59FR.

  • Determining if 2,000 lb Axle Needs 1-1/4 inch or 1-3/8 inch BT8 Spindle
With trailer axle components there isn't typically a way to know what you need before getting into the hub/spindle area. Basically you'll need to remove your old one first and determine if you need the 1-1/4 inch BT8 part # TRU94FR or the 1-3/8 inch # TRU59FR.

  • Should a Spindle That is Chipping be Replaced
Anytime that a spindle is starting to take damage you will want to replace it as that will affect the performance of your bearings and seal. In this case since that chipping is right where the seal sits (as you mentioned) that will eat at the rubber seal which will likely cause it to fail. A failed seal will leak grease and cause further damage to your spindle/hub area. From the picture you sent in it looks like you have a round BT8 spindle. For replacements we have parts # TRU94FR, #...

  • Replacement Trailer Spindle that Takes L44643 Bearings
If both the inner and outer bearings are L44643 then you have a BT8 spindle. You can use # R104BT8, # TRU97FR, or # TRU59FR. All three of these spindles are rated for 1,000 pounds by themselves so they would be on a 2,000 pound axle. I have linked videos for all 3 spindles for you. Please note that installation of a spindle is a precision job that requires someone with experience in welding on spindles.
