Question:
I have an old homebuilt trailer that Ive had for 8 years and Im not the original owner. The hub is 5 on 4 1/2, but Im not able to read the number off the outer bearing as it is so faded. I did not pull the seal or inner bearing. The bearings dont show as being scored, so I may grease them up and put them back on, but Im tempted given the unknown status/age to replace the hubs. Its a straight axle and spindle - Ive attached pictures. I dont know the details of the axle. I used a digital caliper to measure, but Im not sure Im spot-on. Heres what I measured if I need to mark-up a photo, I can do that The inner bearing seal shaft diameter is 1.24 The shaft diameter is 1 The length of the threaded part of the spindle is .87 The length of the spindle shaft from thread to seal is 4.14 The inner diameter of the seal is 1.267inch and the outer diameter is 1.955 The grease cap inner diameter is 1.976

The measurements that you gave tell me that you have a BT8 Spindle # TRU59FR.
If you wish to replace your bearings, races and grease seal you will want the Bearing Kit # BK1-100. This includes 2 Bearings # L44643, 2 Races # L44610, a Grease Seal # 34823 and a Cotter Pin # 165649.
To make things easier you can replace your entire hub. Depending on your wheel size you can choose either the Idler Hub # AKIHUB-545-2-1K that has the 5 on 4-1/2" lug pattern you said you have with 10"-12" diameter wheels. If you have 13"-15" wheels you will need the Idler Hub # AKIHUB-545-2-LF-1K. Both hubs come ready to slide onto your spindle meaning it saves you from having to knock out the bearing races and press in new ones and you do not have to grease the bearings as they are preloaded with grease.
I recommend getting a set of the Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors # BB1980A-SS to make adding grease to your bearings easier and the built in auto check will help to prevent to much grease from being added and blowing out the rear grease seal.
