Carpet Diagram

Note: This 18" wide carpeting is designed for use on 4x8, 3x8, and 2x6 boards. If you use this on your 4x8 bunk boards, a small section of the board will be exposed on the underside.

Protect Your Boat's Hull

Over time, the carpeting that covers your bunk boards can wear down or even tear apart. This can lead to scratches on your boat's hull. Replacing the carpeting periodically ensures protection for your boat, and it will also prevent your wooden bunk boards from rotting.

Replacing Bunk Board Carpeting

To get started, remove the old carpet from your bunk boards, doing your best to remove any old staples and bolts from the boards as well.

Cut the carpet to the appropriate length and lay it down so that the backing is facing up, then place your bunk board on top. Make sure that there's enough extra carpet to wrap around the sides and ends of the board. Then wrap the carpet around one side and staple it in place.

Once you're done with the first side, tightly pull the carpet around the opposite edge of the board and secure it with staples. Loose carpet can easily snag or tear, leaving the wooden board vulnerable to moisture or damage.

Once both sides are securely attached, tuck any extra carpet at the ends in tightly, like you're wrapping a package, and secure the ends to the board with staples.

I want to thank you for all your help with my trailer you were more helpful than you realize. So this is my trailer for a 22' Flats Cat shallow draft Catamaran. I totally dismantled my trailer and buffed by hand with a wire buffer and sand blasted in some spots and applied multiple coats of some very expensive galvanize paint (Z.R.C.). I installed all new C. E. Smith Carpet (about 80'), seven new LED waterproof lights, new springs, new equalizers, new tongue jack, new wench, new safety chain, new chain brackets, all new SS hardware and a 35' long wiring harness. I was able to send only one review with a picture of the safety chain and brackets. I'm having a little trouble with the rest..oh some of these items were bought locally or from your competitors, until I found etrailer. Your prices were cheaper for the exact same things. Your helpful how to videos were helpful. And Rose, your personal helpful knowledge made my buying experience very pleasant, I actually enjoyed talking to you! Thanks to etrailer and specifically to Rose G.

Bunk material was excellent. associated video helpful too. happy to see water not staying on the material after launching boat (drains off quickly). Material was wide enough to overlap my 2x4 bunk boards and plenty wide enough for fender skirts. Experienced delayed shipment but very aware many industries, including my own, are seeing similar results.

This product is the best bought 3 rolls. It is perfect when you have 2X6 plastic boards. We bought Stainless Steel staples & used a Bostitch air stapler 2 hours all done looks great!! Will buy again for my friends boat trailer repair!!

I replaced all my bunk boards and added new bunk CE brand carpet, this bunk carpet was easy to to install and fold over the new boards and staple in place. I did this early spring of 2020 and had no issues with the material, the boat loaded much better than before. And it added that extra protection from scratches on the hull. I bought more material for my Jon boat bunks and it’s working great. Very happy with this product.

My trailer had been stored outside for several years. The metal, wood and carpet had deteriorated to a point the trailer could no longer be used safely. I searched for parts at all local suppliers but no one had all the parts I needed in one place. I searched the net and discovered etrailer.com. I ordered everything I needed and the parts were delivered 4 days earlier than the promise date. I recommend etrailer.com without hesitation.

Wasn't worth my time and effort. Been doing this kind of work for many years. Trailered the boat 4 times wore through this bunk material fast.

Great product, have replaced two bunks and will shortly replace 2 additional bunks on pontoon trailer. In the picture, the bunk on the right has the new bunk covering. The left bunk is my next to replace.

Very good product. Subject to some staining even with very limited time submerged. Product was well packaged and was easy to apply to the wooden bunks. Would definitely recommend purchase this product from eTrailer.com.

Was very pleased with quickness of delivery. Have put on bunk carpet. Replaced carpet that had been on my bunks for 14 years. The thickness of the replacement carpet was just as thick as what I took off. Would recommend this carpet.

Excellent quality bunk carpet. Arrived in great condition. Product arrived promptly. CE Smith Marine carpet is thick and durable. Cuts cleanly and when applied to the bunks it looks great. Used 1/2" stainless staples to secure carpet along length and stainless screws with washers to secure end wraps. etrailer.com and CE Smith Bunk Carpet both deserve 5 stars.

Nice product, delivered promptly (as always). Not having to chase materials locally, having UPS drop it at the gate is one way I buy time - worth every penny. Nice to have pre-cut material vs having to slit down to size from a large piece off the roll at the local big box store. I wanted more support than the standard 2x4 (finished dimension of course is only 1 1/2 thick) provides, so I ripped an 8' pressure treated 4x4 down to 2 1/4 thick. The comfort of knowing it will last longer than me was worth the extra effort. This material perfectly wrapped 2 each 8 foot bunks, with two layers on one side. I highly recommend using a slap stapler. Mine came from a pawn shop. 1/2" stainless staples from local box store. The slap stapler allows using lots of staples for secure attachment without carpal tunnel from squeezing the Arrow T50 hundreds of times. The 8 hours of spinning bolts / jacking to even load on 5 keel rollers, two bunks, winch column / jack.....that's another story.

  • Ounce Weight of CE Smith Deluxe Marine-Grade Carpeting and Does it Have Backing
I checked with the manufacturer, and the CE Smith Deluxe Marine-Grade Carpeting for Bunk Boards - Black - 18' Long x 18" Wide # CE11349 has a 16.1 oz per square yard weight. As for the backing, the material on the back of the carpeting is the same as the front, but it is a bit more matted down than the front. I have added links to a video install as well as a video review for you to check out of the CE Smith Deluxe Marine-Grade Carpeting for Bunk Boards # CE11349.

  • Carpet for 12 Foot Long Boat Bunks
We don't have carpeted bunks that are 12 foot long but if you can source the length of boards you need we can help with the carpet for them. For that we have the part # CE11349 which measure 18 inches wide and 18 feet long and would fit the bunk boards you need well.

  • How Does Bunk Carpeting Normally Attach to Boat Bunks
The most common way to attach bunk carpet to bunk boards is to use heavy duty staples on the underside of the bunk and then an outdoor carpet adhesive on the tops of the boards. A coworker here used Liquid Nails as an adhesive when he did his two years ago and it's holding up well.

  • Should You Completely Cover Wood on Bunk Boards with Marine-Grade Carpeting or Leave Wood Exposed
It is recommended to cover all of the exposed wood. When the wood is exposed there is a greater risk of rot and damage. The carpeting is made of breathable polyester which makes sure it can dry out so no mold will build up and damage the wood or carpet. I have attached a video review for your reference.

  • Replacement Bunk Board Carpeting For a 16 Foot Long Bunk Boards
Yes, you can use a 16' long bunk board to replace your two 8' boards. It is important to find the straightest board you can as the longer boards will tend to have more bows and crowns in them. I recommend using a solid piece of CE Smith Deluxe Marine-Grade Carpeting # CE11349 to cover the full length of the replacement board. This 18' long by 18" wide carpeting will cover your bunk boards without seams that can be easily damaged.

  • Recommended Marine Carpet for 2x6 Bunk Boards 8 Feet Long
For 2 boards that are 2x6 and 96 inches long, I recommend the CE Smith Deluxe Marine-Grade Carpeting for Bunk Boards - Black - 18' Long x 18" Wide # CE11349. This will allow you to cover your boards completely. That will allow better hold to the boards because there is more surface area to attach the carpet to the boards. One roll will cover both boards well. I recommend using stainless steel staples so the staples don't corrode. You can find them at your local hardware store.

  • Boat Bunk Carpet for 8 Foot Long Bunks
Due to the length of your bunks being 8 foot I would go with the 18 foot long by 18 inch # CE11349 since you could cut the length of this in half and have enough for the bunk sizes you have. The other size we have is 12 feet like the part # FCR8012 but this would be a bit too long for each of your bunks but also not long enough for two of your boards.
