  • How to Remove a Hub from a Ram Line Jet Boat Trailer with Damaged Bearings.
Unfortunately, it sounds as if when your bearings went out you were towing the trailer and the inside of the bearing that contacts the spindle, bearing cup, got hot and galled itself to the spindle on the trailer. This happens many times when bearings fail and can require replacement of the whole axle in the most extreme cases. I would try to remove the bearing cup by prying with a pry bar or screw driver and lubricating the spindle. If that doesn't work try more aggressive techniques....

  • Assembly Order for Bearings, Races, and Seals for Trailer Hub # 34822BX
The order of assembly is as follows (from the inside out). First, put the inner race in the back side of the hub, followed by the inner bearing, and then the seal. Insert the hub onto the spindle. Then, insert the outer race, followed by the outer bearing, then the washer, nut, and pin. The grease cap goes on last. It looks like you are putting the race in the wrong place. I have included a link to a video that will show you the process. Also, all the parts you have listed are compatible....

In order to pick out the correct hub assembly for a trailer you are going to need know a few key pieces of information. You will need to know what spindle you have on your trailer. In order to do that you can either get the inner and outer bearing numbers from a hub or use a dial caliper to get exact measurements of the spindle. In the mean time, since you mention that the bearings blew out, you will want to examine the spindle to make sure that it wasn't damaged. As long as there is no discoloring, scratches, or other damage, you may be able to just replace the bearings, race, and seal. If you are planning to replace your hub, I will cover that as well. We do offer replacement spindles but a bit more information is needed to determine which spindle you will need. One way to determine would be to get a few measurements from your spindle. If you are looking to order a new axle for your 5 foot wide trailer you will need to determine what the hub face to hub face dimension you would need to clear your trailer that is 5 feet (60 inches) wide. You will also need to know the width of your wheels/tires. It might seem that the spindle being slightly bent isn't a big deal but it can definitely lead to another blowout so you'll want to replace that spindle with a new one. Anytime that a spindle is starting to take damage you will want to replace it as that will affect the performance of your bearings and seal.
