Ask the Experts about this TruRyde Trailer Spindles

  • Availability of Spindle and Hubs for 10,000 lb Trailer Axle
As you may have noticed, the highest capacity spindle we carry is for a 7,000 lb axle, # TRU37FR. Your best bet is to source the spindles for a 10,000 lb axle through a local trailer shop or dealer. If are able to source the spindles, we do have hubs for 10,000 lb axles. I'll list them below: # 8-430-5UC3 - Dexter Hub Drum for 9K to 10K axles manufactured after July 2009 (for non ABS brakes) - uses inner bearing # 387A, outer bearing # 25580 and oil seal # 10-51 # K08-288-90 -...

  • Wheels, Spindle, and Hubs for Making Hay Unroller for Round Bales
You'll want a wheel and tire setup like the part # WST94FR which has off-road tires for your application so to build the setup around that you'd want a hub like the # 8-213-5UC1-EZ and then a spindle like the # TRU37FR that you referenced. This setup has about 4 times the weight capacity you'd need in terms of on-road weight capacity which should be fine for what you are doing.

  • Replacement Spindle for 7,000 lbs Axle
We have the #42 E-Z Lube Spindle w/ Flange for 5.2K to 7K Trailer Axles - 2-1/4" Diameter # TRU37FR and the #42 Spindle for 5,200-lb to 7,000-lb Trailer Axles - 2-1/4" Diameter # TRU57FR which are both compatible with 7,000 lb axles. Both will measure 4 inches from the grease seal position to the threads. You can see this in the attached video at the 1:42 second mark. The difference between these is the zerk fitting and the brake flange. The spindle dimensions will be identical.

  • Which Spindle is Compatible with # AKIHUB-865-7-1-K 7000 lb Trailer Hub
The # TRU37FR EZ Lube or the # TRU57FR standard spindle is compatible with the # AKIHUB-865-7-1-K hub you mentioned. These spindles are compatible with a 5200, 6000 or 7000 lb capacity axle, the axle capacity will depend on the bearing set used. The hub you referenced uses a 25580/14125A bearing set which is good to 7K.

  • Replacement Trailer Spindles to Allow Installation of Different Hubs
All of the trailer spindles we sell are weld-on types, including those with brake flanges like TruRyde # TRU74FR that fits 1.75-inch diameter axles. The largest diameter spindle we sell is for a 2-1/4-inch axle beam, part # TRU37FR; this can be seen on the link provided. This spindle is for a 5200-lb axle and it has a 5-bolt brake mounting flange. It is almost surely going to be easier and less expensive for you to replace your axles than to have a professional welder install new spindles...

  • Spindle Recommendation for Trailer Hub with Bearing Dimensions of 1.25 and 1.75 inch
The spindle you would need based on the dimensions you provided is what is referred to as a #42 spindle. The part # TRU37FR would fit and has a 5 bolt mounting flange for the brake assemblies. These have a 2,600 lb capacity per spindle. I attached a review video for you to check out as well as a picture that has all of the dimensions of the spindle listed.

  • Can Electric Brakes be Added to Cam Slimeline AG Dump Woodsman Trailer
The first thing to check on the trailer is if it has brake mounting flanges. A brake mounting flange is welded to the axle/spindle and holds the brake assembly. For an example of what this looks like check out spindle # TRU74FR or # TRU37FR. If your trailer does not have brake mounting flanges you could have some welded on but it is a precision job that requires a professional welder with experience in welding on brake flanges. The easiest solution would be to replace the axle with one...

  • Recommendation for Failing EZ Lube Spindle and Vortex Hub
We do not carry the Vortex hubs made by Tie Down Engineering. Unfortunately because of this, I don't really know how to assist with troubleshooting the hubs themselves as they are designed to seal out moisture and debris, yet are obviously failing. The threaded cab should have an o-ring to prevent moisture entry and the seal should prevent it on the other side. The zerk fitting on your EZ lub spindles is a part of the spindle so to replace that would require changing the entire spindle....

  • Parts Needed to Add Electric Drum Brakes to a Home Made Trail
The first thing you are going to want to check would be the axle to determine if it has brake mounting flanges welded on. A brake mounting flange on an axle/spindle would looks similar to # TRU74FR or # TRU37FR . The flange is that piece with the holes about midway down each of those examples. If you do not see those on your axle then they will have to be added. This is a precision job that requires a professional welder with the special jig needed and experience with welding on brake...

  • Recommended Hubs and Spindles for 2500 lb Homemade Trailer
The first thing to determine is if you want an idler hub or a hub/drum. The weight threshold at which brakes are mandated varies by state, so you might want to check that with your state police or highway patrol. If you decide on an idler hub (no brakes), I'd recommend the # 42655UC1 hub from Dexter Axle. The bearings, races, grease seal, lug bolts and grease cap are included. The hub will have more than enough capacity for your application. This hub would use the # TRU57FR spindle. For...

  • Hub and Drum Assemblies and Spindles for Dexter Electric Trailer Brakes 23-112
The brake assembly # 23-112 is rated for 6,000 pound axles, not 3,500 pound axles. For a 3,500 pound axle you will need to look at 10x2-1/4 inch brakes such as # 23-26 for the left side and # 23-27 for the right side. These mount to a 4-bolt flange, such as # 4-34 for 1-3/4 inch round axles, or # 4-35 for 2-3/8 inch round axles. Brake mounting flanges need to be installed by a qualified professional with experience welding on brake flanges because it is a precision job requiring special...

After eating the soup and nuts you will have the energy to install electric brakes on the trailer. There are several parts needed to add the brakes and get them to work. The first thing you should look at is the trailer axle. Specifically you are looking to see if there are brake mounting flanges welded to the spindles. If there are they will look similar to #...

  • Spindle, Brake Assembly and Hub/Drum Recommendations for a 5 on 5 and 8 on 6-1/2 Bolt Pattern
You will need to use two different spindles/hubs/brake assemblies for each set of wheels. Which would make sense since you plan on swapping to a different axle. Spindles aren't something that are easy to swap in and out so your best option would be two have two totally different axles. For the 5 on 5 setup you would want the spindle part # TRU74FR. For a hub and drum part # 84556UC3, and brake assemblies # 23-27 for right side and # 23-26 for left side. For the 8 on 6-1/2 setup you...
