SumoSprings helper springs are great for RVs or motor homes that have slide-outs. Slide-out rooms and other heavy front loads can cause front-end sag as your factory suspension compresses under the weight of the load. This means that the front axle is trying to support not only the extra load but also the motor home's weight. And because there is less weight on your rear axle, your rear tires make less contact with the road, which causes problems with traction, steering, and braking. SumoSprings upgrade your vehicle's factory suspension to level your vehicle, improve driving performance, and keep your ride comfortable.
The innovative 2-piece design of these Rebel springs allows for unlimited suspension travel. This means that there will be more movement in your suspension when you're unloaded or off-roading, which makes your ride smoother and more comfortable.
Each spring has 2 pieces. One piece attaches to the frame of your vehicle. And the other piece attaches to the axle. The pieces come together to provide support when you are carrying a heavy front load. When you're unloaded, they separate so that they don't restrict the movement of your suspension. The closed-cell urethane springs also act like a shock absorber to dampen road vibration.
SumoSprings provide progressive load control - the more you load them, the stiffer they become. With a lighter load, the springs will compress easily for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. The springs can also compress by as much as 80 percent to support a heavy front load and to help your factory suspension bear up under the load. This evens out the weight, which levels your vehicle and ensures that your rear tires are making better contact with the road. A level ride means that you have improved driving control, ensures safe headlight aim, and helps to minimize sway. The springs also support your factory suspension, which helps prevent sagging and reduces bottoming out.
The springs work independently from one another to support each side of your vehicle. This action helps to reduce body roll when you make a sharp turn. This also helps compensate for an off-center load.
These microcellular urethane springs are tough. They resist abrasion, oil, salt, and UV rays that can more quickly wear out other springs, and they perform well in temperatures ranging from -25 F to 200 F (-33 C to 93 C).
SumoSprings expand and compress vertically with minimum expansion to the sides, so they won't be damaged by nearby mechanical parts, and they fit safely into tighter spots. And unlike air springs, SumoSprings require no maintenance or adjustment.
This kit comes with custom-fit brackets that are designed to easily bolt onto your vehicle.

Each 2-piece spring connects at top and bottom and provides unlimited suspension travel and movement for a smooth, comfortable ride. The front Sumo Springs made a major difference in the stability of my Winnebago motorhome. It handles the bumps much better without major jarring of the passengers and dampens the side to side motion in turns and under crosswinds.
We have a 2009 build F53 chassis on our 2010 Windsport 32A. I ordered these Sumo springs for the front axle. Hated how bad our coach dashboard would shake and rattle when going over bridge transitions, potholes, and concrete roadway section breaks. Took about an hour and were easy to install alone. Couldn't believe how much these helped the front axle. Worked so well I recently bought a set for the rear axle also. Those are a bit harder to install due to having to drill holes in frame rails to mount the upper bracket and glad I had friend to assist me. Would have only taken a little longer without the help but still easy to do by basic mechanic skills. With having both now we can certainly tell the difference and wished I had bought them sooner.
20 minutes each side to install. Very easy & easy instructions. And WOW! What a difference in ride, handling & comfort. Immediate results . I've used sumo springs before & can't say enough good about them & etrailer as well.
The Sumo Springs that I added to my 2020 Fleetwood Bounder motorhome (along with a Safe-T-Plus) seem to have corrected the ride & handling problems that I was experiencing. I rated the product 4 out of 5 stars because I have only driven the motorhome 20 miles of so home from the shop. The route did, however, include some rough pavement , narrow lanes & construction zones which were MUCH more difficult before. In all honesty, this is probably a five star product. I can’t wait to take a longer trip & see how it does.
I unpacked everything and it was in good shape. All parts were intact and individually protected with paper. The directions were easily understood and very descriptive with all parts lettered with pictures and corresponded to a part and item #. One portion of the front diagram showing the leaf spring attached to a 90 degree I beam should state that is the axle. At the top of the diagram showing the frame rail, it would help if indicated somewhere we were looking at the outside of the frame rail. Those two things would help orient the viewer to what is being looked at. Also, the note at the bottom that says "Driver Side Front" with an arrow, should be in larger print and bold text. The actual pictures on the back side with the instructions should also say (at least in the first one) "outside of frame rail". To sum things up it took me 3hrs to install the driver's side. Mainly because I broke loose the welded nut on the frame that holds the bump stop and I had a heck of a time getting a socket that fit on it so I could get that darn bump stop off. Having said that, it only took me 45 to 50 minutes to install the passenger side once I knew what I was doing and had all of the tools handy. As a final note, it would be helpful to include a tool list such as 3/8" drive socket wrench with 4" or 6" extension. 13mm and 15mm deep sockets to remove Ford bump stops. Standard 9/16" ratchet wrench and or extra open end/box end 9/16" and a deep 9/16" socket. All of which only need to be 3/8" drive. I look forward to my next trip with the SumoSprings installed.
Installed myself, took about an hour and a half on the first side and about 45 minutes on the second side. I have not taken a long trip yet but a 5 mile test drive after installation seemed very positive. Will update later after a trip.
Recommend there springs for any coach without air ride. These took the ride of our 2022 Coachman from that of an empty dump truck to as good of ride as my Ford F-250 SuperDuty. etrailer really know the products and can help you find anything you are needing. I also installed a rear track bar and front steering stabilizer and this has changed the entire handling of this short Pursuit 27 XPS. Can now set the cruise and relax while I drive. The only negative I had was when I removed the front factory bump stops the nuts are not welded in place on my f53 and my frame in that area is boxed in so you had to use existing holes to put the nut back in place. I spent 2 hours on the first one then when I used wire and duct tape to let it down into place the second one took no time at all. This is an issue Ford needs to correct it did not have anything to do with Sumo Springs or etrailer.
My THOR motor coach has the Ford F-53 chassis. I rides like a truck. That should not be surprising as "it is a truck." I purchased and installed these Sumo Springs and even though it will never be "air bag" suspension, the Sumo Spring made a wonderful difference in improving the ride. I would recommend this add on to everyone and as I meet similar motor coaches on the road, I show them the Sumo Springs and I do recommend them.
Preston did a great job helping me spec in the correct springs for my 2016 Thor Hurricane 27K on a F53 chassis. Placed order with him over phone and received springs two day's later. I just installed them and took Motor home on a test drive around town on bumpy streets and what a difference it made. Drives more like a truck now and less like a boat. I also installed a steering stabilizer spring and did the cheap handling fix to the sway bars. Well worth the time and effort. I did notice that the etralier installation video shows the bottom brackets of the spring installed with the "U" down which is opposite the mfg's printed instructions. I did mine according to the printed instructions cause it seemed to make more sense. Probably no big deal either way. Thanks etrailer. I'll be contacting you guys when ready to do the back end of my motor home.
These Sumo springs are the best investment I’ve made for my class A Rv.
When you look at the bumpstop and all the travel it can go, it makes sense to fill that space with a constant contact chusion, such as the Sumo Spring. I have a 2011 F53 chassis supporting a 32 Class A motothome. 16,000 GVW and no slide. I only installed the fronts to see how they worked. I did it myself and it took about 2 1/2 hours. If I can do it anyone that can work a wrench and understands basic mechanics can do it. I'm 60 and it's a tight space under there and takes some effort, but the jobs not hard, just doing it is hard and uncomfortable. My motorhome would ride very rough on the same roads my car ran smooth. The Sumo Springs were an improvement. They did not solve the rough ride on real poor highway, but on normal rough roads, they were an improvement that will benefit the ride on more roads than not. I now plan to do the rears when I get time.
Service is excellent with etrailer. Merchandise shipped almost immediately after payment and received within 2 days of ordering. Personnel very professional and knowledgeable about products! If they don’t have it, they will recommend a company that does! I would definitely recommend dealing with etrailer!
We have been extremely happy with the installation of the Sumo Springs to the front and rear of our class A motorhome. This in combination with the addition of Safety Steering has made a tremendous difference in comfort and driving. I belong to several motorhome groups and have recommend Sumo Springs to anyone interested in upgrading their rig.
These made a huge difference in the drivability and handling of my 2018 Ford F53-based bounder 35K. Highly recommended. And the team at etrailer.com is super responsive and helpful. I strongly recommend this upgrade, combined with additional/reinforce sway bar. You driving will be more pleasant, less stressful and safer. - Vittorio
I bought the Summo Springs for the front and rear of my Thor ACE 30.3 because I could not find the bigger anti-sway bars for my F53 chassis. I was very disappointed with the way my MH handled. The Summo Springs did a great job of stabilizing my MH. 100% improvement. I would Highly recomend them and etrailer is very good to work with
Much easier to drive the rv with these installed. Reduced the affect that semi trucks and wind gusts as well as improving the ride
Sumo springs make a big difference in the handling of the F53 Ford chassis. My motorhome has about every suspension modification available - replacement as well as add on sway bars, koni shocks, track bars, etc. but the Sumo springs made the most improvement. The only problem I ran into was the claim that there is no drilling - there was drilling required in the rear. Highly recommended.
Easy install, took about an hour. They absorb some of the road cracks and makes other bumps smoother. It really helps on cornering with significantly less leaning and roll Happy with etrailer and product.
Delivery was timely as estimated and package was complete, well packaged and in order as expected. Ordering was easy and problem free. Very satisfied customer. Will shop again from etrailer.com
Since I installed the SumoSprings on the front and rear along with rm front stabilizer, my RV rides and handles beautifully. I love driving my RV on both short and long trips. Sorry, I don’t have any photos to add at this time.
They’re asking me for a review the day after I received these items. I can only give it 3 stars because I could only install the fronts today as there was no hardware in the box for the rears. I immediately opened the boxes and called. A very nice person explained how backed up they were and it would be 3-4 days before a request could even be submitted for new mounting hardware. We can only see. I’m hoping I can revise this rating later if I get the hardware in a reasonable timeframe. To be fair the box was retaped. Well never know if it was UPS or the original packer. I’m Most likely going to be leaving on my next trip with only fronts installed. They weren’t bad to install. Between the written directions and the [online video]. The only thing left out is I raised and lowered the unit to be sure the pieces were lined up before tightening. It’s really the only way.
They we’re a very good install front and rear. They improved handling quite a bit along with the steering stabilizer and bilstein gas shocks. A smother ride on the open highway but within twenty miles of a city where the roads are pretty much tore up the ride is a bit bumpy. I’ve looked into a air suspension and fir the F53 chassis has for front and rear
Easy to install, the test drive went well can’t wait for our next camping trip
I keep repeating that your installation guidance plays a key part in the performance of the product. I have inspected them for normal wear and they are continuing to hold up. The suspension seems more trusty to the point of using just one hand and lack of substantial "sucking" during passing by big rigs. This is only on the front Sumo Springs as I did not see it as a requirement at this time to update the rear suspension. It is a well worth product considering a major RV manufacturer is offering them as part of their regular equipment.
Packaged strongly. Heavy item, needed the attention etrailer gave.
