I decided it was time for an upgrade of the tail lights on my travel trailer. The factory incandescent fixtures had degraded to the point that the lenses had to be taped on to prevent them from falling off. Water got inside and was causing corrosion around the light sockets and bulbs to the point I was constantly having to clean the contacts or replace the bulbs. I decided on the RVSTL60/61 9 diode LED fixtures for two reasons. For one, I figured it was a good "middle of the road" choice. It wasn't as good as the top of the line 22 diode light, but it would be better than the bottom of the line single diode light. The other factor was the price. I was planning on adding a second fixture on each side for better visibility so cost was a factor. I decided two 9 diode lights on each side would be a huge improvement to what I had at a reasonable cost.

I'm a DIY'er, but electrical projects are my weak point. So when I tell you the wiring needed for this project was easy, you can believe it was EASY! The function of each wire is printed on the back on the fixture. The fixtures I was replacing were also Optronics and had the wire function printed on the back of them as well. To add a second fixture I simple fished 3 wires to down to the fixture below it.

I included 3 pictures, but they're not real good. The camper is backed up close to the house so I couldn't get a good angle to really clearly show how much of an improvement it is. Trust me, I'm very happy with the results. And yes, I know I need to finish washing my rig!

The first picture is the original incandescent fixture.
The second picture are the new fixtures.
The third picture is the finished project, but like I said, it's at a bad angle so it doesn't show it off as much as I would like.

Thanks for reading!

Improved brightness for safety plus long lasting LEDs. Only problem is that they are smaller than OEM and marks from old lights are hard to get rid of

Very happy with these. I really feel confident that my turn signals and brake lights are easily visible even in bright sunlight where the OEMs were too dim. These are great

Well I went to install my drive's side light with license plate holder and found out that both lights sent to me are the same driver's side light, lucky for me because one of them was broken.

As for the other items I haven't installed them yet but at least the appear to be the correct item and not broken.

These LED lights are a great improvement from the originals. I'm a big fan of LEDs I replace them in everything I have if I can. much safer .
I all so installed a LED light strip, like the ones you would install under the tail gate on a pick up. with Back ups, Tail & Turn.
These Optronics light are a little smaller in size, you do have to silicon over the old holes before installing.

Easy change over from the worthless OEM . I don't have to worry about if I I have taillights anymore .

I purchased these as, additional tail lights. I believe my current lights are not bright enough in daylight. I purchased two of the passenger side as, I do not need additional licence plate lighting. Also, on my cargo trailer the licence plate is mounted on the large rear door / ramp. these lights will also serve as additional rear side marker lights when mounted properly. I cannot provide photos at this time as the lights are not installed yet.

This is more of an etrailer review.

was looking for a replacement of a wraparound taillight for my 1999 Jayco Eagle pop up trailer. From the advice received through your site, I found that not only had that taillight been discontinued, its replacement was discontinued as well and the product I purchased was the best available option.

This alone helped me to end my seemingly endless search for a solution and while I could acquire this cheaper in Canada, I decided to buy through etrailer given they had given me options from past comments and saved me work. I was pleasantly surprised by the ease of ordering and the speed of delivery as I now have both taillight replacements less than a week after ordering - even given a border to cross.

This is excellent and I think pretty rare customer service. I'll be back if I need anything further.

The product continues to work as expected. No issues.

Works perfectly. Easy to install.

One year of use, and they are still working well. Direct replacement for the OEM lights on our 2013 Forest River Rockwood trailer. Much brighter than the incandescent fixtures they replaced.

Good product, still working well. One light actually got quite wet due to bad caulk job on my part. Dried it out and all is well.

Arrived quickly and works great!

Cracked lens on the OEM tail light, I took the opportunity to change them out to LED. This model substantially fit the footprint of the OEM units. I have found them to have good daylight brightness, and as LED's do, they "pop" when they turn on or off. Back and forth through Atlanta and Nashville a few times already this spring in daytime traffic, it appeared that my lane changing intentions were clearly visible as I always received consideration when I signaled. And the best part; I needed them just as I was departing on a trip. Ended up I was going right by so they held them at the will-call counter for me. Couldn't have been easier!

And when you need electric brake stuff for your trailer, upgrade to the self-adjusting type and be happy with better brakes than you're probably used to.

They work, they are a lot brighter than the incandescent ones. (I say "they" since you order them usually in pairs, unless you break one.)
They are not my first choice for light assemblies. However, they are identical in design and size to the incandescent ones that broke on my trailer, and they are the only LED models with the same width/height so they fit up perfectly.

Problem is, when trying to remove the lens cover from the back, it is next to impossible NOT to break one of the white clips...terrible design (see photo).

And from experience (3 years) the lenses do not hold up great to UV. I removed a cover on one original one after 3 years living in a desert; little white clip broke. I was able to apply silicone sealant to hold in place and it did a great job. However, when I went to change the bulb in the other side, not only did a clip break, but the entire lens cracked; I'm assuming due to 3 years in the heat and sunlight.

Ordered LED replacement ones, but one of my wiring connectors was not seated correctly (MY FAULT), so when removing the lens, again a white clip broke.

Rather than just silicone a new one, I ordered a new one. That's the reason I gave it a GOOD rating vs. less than GOOD. They are inexpensive.

I will make sure the new one is wired correctly before installing the red lens, and since it is LED they should last years longer than the incandescent bulbs so no need to remove the lens; thus no breakage.

Upgraded standard tail lights on camper trailer to LED taillights. Had to drill new holes to mount as they are close but not and exact replica of what was on the trailer. Lights are 100 times better than the original. Even the driver side light has a separate LED to illuminate your license plate. Worth the money and 30 minutes to install. LED's are brighter especially during the day. Turn and brake lights are more definitive than standard tail lights. I upgrade to LED on every trailer we have owned.

This was an exact replacement for the OEM tail lights on my KZ Spree travel trailer. The replacement process was very straight forward. These tail lights are much brighter than the originals, and the LEDs should last the life of the RV without the aggravating and unpredictable bulb replacement needed by the older type.
The website product description was perfectly accurate. Communication was excellent. This has also been my experience with etrailer on previous orders.

Now that I have the right light I am very happy with it.It is much brighter than the old bulb lights that came on the camper. You can now see the blinker in the day time.I feel better with these lights instaled.

Love it.Install was easy and they look like the day I got them.

I recently came into a 12' popup trailer, and upon bringing it home I realized that the rear light plastic had decayed to the point where it was falling apart.
I found and fell in love with their well-made website, with it's massive lighting collection that was well curated and organized. It was clear to me that the people at are really passionate about trailer lighting! The videos of each product were awesome and really helped me figure out what I wanted to get. The lights came exactly as promised and were easy to install.
Will highly recommend!

Light works great. Was easy to install.

Works great. Didn't match up in size to 20 year old light, so I had two holes to caulk closed. Also, this comes with a ground wire where as the old light used the screw into the metal of the trailer for ground. I wrapped the ground wire on this light around one of the screws holding it to the trailer and it works fine.

Very bright taillights. In fact tail lights are almost as bright as the brake lights. They are a great improvement over my RV oem incandesant lights. They are a little smaller than oem's so had to fill in a couple of screw holes. Very happy with my purchase.

These lights are an excellent upgrade for my pop-up camper. I highly recommend them over incandescents for replacement of old faded tail lights.

I've told my friends about your site and I'll be sure to use it again when I need any replacement parts.
Thanks Kourtney for all your help.

It works great. It was easy to install, no problems at all.

Bright!!! Quality built.

Great upgrade on my 1999 Jayco Eagle. Easy to install.

These were an excellent replacement for stock lights on 1992 Jayco popup. One suggestion would be to have a channel to run wires behind base to align with wiring openings on various trailers.

These lights are a better option than regular bulb type lights. No more worry about corroded bulb contacts. They installed reasonably easily. They are a little different dimensions than the old lights but that wasn't really an issue.

  • Installing Trailer Taillights on 1991 Terry Resort by Fleetwood
Without knowing what lights you actually have, I can only help with possibilities. I recommend connecting the ground wire to a battery and then touching each of the other wires to the positive terminal to see function. It sounds like you will have two wires that will tie into each other for the same function. You most likely have one wire for the running lights, separate wires for the stop and turn function in case you have a trailer wired that way (which most aren't but some Motorhomes...

  • Installation of 2nd Set of Tail Lights on 2021 Grand Design Imagine Travel Trailer
You will definitely want to run wire inside and then back outside for your second set of tail lights. The Low Profile RV Combination Tail Light - Stop, Tail, Turn - 9 Diodes - Passenger Side # RVSTL60 is a great option and it will work well for your travel trailer. The wall may be insulated but I recommend running wire inside the wall not on the far inside or outside. The insulation is normally a foam that can be bored for the wire to run thru.

  • Recommendation for Changing Incandescent Tail Lights to LED on a 1995 Trailer
All of our 1157 bulbs, LED or incandescent, have retaining tabs that are rotated 90 degrees from the contacts. We do not offer any bulbs where the contact and tabs are inline with each other. My recommendation would be to replace your tail lights with LED tail lights like part # RVSTL60 (right hand) and # RVSTL61 (left hand). These are fairly inexpensive LED tail lights that provide brake light, turn signal and tail light and license plate light functions.

These lights have 9 LEDs and the driver side includes a 3-LED license plate illuminator. These lights are a surface mount and measure 8-5/8 x 3-3/16 x 2-1/4 inches. Absolutely. There's no reason why you couldn't install the Optronics # RVSTL60 passenger-side low-profile trailer taillight in either horizontal orientation so that the trough-hole for wiring feeding the lamp would match up with that of your trailer. The driver's side lamp, part # RVSTL61 can only be mounted one way, because the brackets for mounting the license plate would need to stay at the bottom of the lamp.
