Optronics STL16/17 Series LED Combination Marine Tail Light Measurements

Sealed, Waterproof Trailer Light

The waterproof construction of these lights make them ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. Each circuit board is sealed, which means that water will not damage the diodes or circuit board.

Combination Lights for Trailers Over 80" Wide

Flatbed trailer over 80" wide with combination tail lights

If a trailer is 80" or wider at its widest point, then it requires rear clearance lights in addition to basic trailer lights. These clearance lights indicate the width of the trailer when it is viewed from the back.

To meet these requirements on a flatbed utility trailer where the bed extends past the wheels, you can install combination trailer lights that include the rear clearance function. For proper mounting, the lights must be installed at the widest points on the rear of the trailer - one on each corner.

P2-Rated or P3-Rated Lights

Diagram of light spread for P2 rated light

A P2-rated or P3-rated light produces a 45-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 90 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be seen straight on, but it cannot be seen clearly from the side. So this type of light can be used as either a side marker light or a clearance light, but it cannot function as both. If you need both functions, then you must install 2 separate lights on your trailer - one as a front or rear clearance light and one as a side marker light.

Product arrived safe and sound per timely schedule. Items were as shown on website, and worked perfectly for my Bear-brand boat trailer. Installation easy per instructions, with exception that I had to use a different method of attaching the ground wires. Couldn't seem to get a proper ground simply tightening grounding washer to boat frame. I secured washer between two nuts on one of the attachment screws, and, yea, there were the bright lights. Product has attractive warranty, and is said to be watertight. Comments on those aspects are a couple years down the road!

Product continues to perform as advertised. Glad I bought it.

The lights bolted right up. It wasn't easy to determine if these were the correct lights for my trailer though. It states on your site that these lights are for a trailer over 80" wide, which my stock trailer certainly is not. This caused alot of wasted time looking at every single LED light and I think these were on the last page of a zillion pages. I should have bought spare lenses but since I could only guess at the light, I didn't. I have used alot of your parts on my 3 trailers and never had complaints.

These were OEM replacement lights for my 18 year old boat trailer. Everything matched up perfectly from the size, mounting holes, and wiring. A major bonus was the sealed LED lights. They are far brighter than the original bulbs. I upgraded the wiring connections from wire nuts to heat shrink butt connectors for a more secure connection. etrailer shipped the same day my order was placed and I received it two days later. Fast service.

I have not installed them yet but they look like the original lights . I bought lights from Walmart to save money . I installed the first light , it did not work . I could not figure out witch wire went where . After an hour switching wires , nothing worked . These lights are very clear where they go . I am sure they will be fine .

have not installed them yet on my trailer but based on all the other things I have ordered from etrailer, I am sure they will be perfect. I have NEVER been disappointed with any purchase from etrailer. I will try to follow up after install.

Finally installed the lights on my trailer and as I thought they are great. The install took a little longer than anticipated as I have a little dog who loves to eat trailer wiring never chews anything else in the yard or in the house, just trailer wiring I have to run wiring through metal bx tubing ! Overall very pleased with the lights and of course etrailer.

Quality product. Matched what I had on the trailer. Great I could by the lights without the harness that I did not require.

by:

These are very bright even in daylight. My use is on a boat trailer in a fresh water lake. No problems with submerged use so far.

Comments
Still work well. The bolts are showing some rust. I ran an independant ground so no ground issues but I could see how a ground issue could be possible. Stainless hardware would be recommended.

I had to splice light fixture with the connector from the old light, but that was minor. Year later, I've had no issues and the light is bright and working great!

- TLL160RK
by:

These light have been used on my dirt bike trailer for a year now and flawless. I use the trailer about once a week and it gets bounced around for about 2 hours each time. They also fit the width of the trailer fenders which looks good.

- TLL160RK
by:

Received correct product. Easy to install. Came with all hardware and clear instructions. LED lights much better than old incandescent lights.

- TLL160RK
by:

These are working well. Mechanically, they were a direct fit replacement for the old lights. I expect the LEDs to last longer than the old bulbs.

- TLL160RK
by:

Package delivered promptly. Appeared packaged well. Lights installed easily and operate without issue whatsoever. I decided to purchase this particular brand from this particular retailer because of the lifetime warranty on the LEDs and etrailer's positive reputation. I am, however, a little disappointed that the lens of one of the lights looked a little scuffed up... as if it had been rubbing against the inside of the plastic packaging. I know things like this don't remain pristine forever, but when you purchase something new you want it to look that way!

- TLL160RK
by:

Fast delivery, easy installation. These lights are bright and still working perfectly after a year on my boat trailer.

- TLL160RK

THESE LIGHTS WERE EASY TO INSTALL AND THEY ARE VERY BRIGHT AT NIGHT. TOTALLY WATERPROOF AND DURABLE. I WOULD RECCOMMEND THESE TO ANYONE.

One yr review. So far they have been great!! 5 salt water launches , 15 fresh water and 4,000 miles on trailer. All LED's working on low, lights on, and high, brake and turn function. All you can ask for from a trailer light.

Comments
2yrs. Not as many road miles but lots of fresh water launches. Many single handed where the trailer has a good soak by the time I get the boat off, secured and back in the truck to park it. I also dont disconnect the trailer wiring wgile its in the water as Ive hrard some do. Theyve been perfect!!

Lights were easy to install and are very bright. been dunked in fresh/saltwater at least 150 times and still function properly.

- TLL160RK

Great lights. Only problem is if you're a saltwater fisherman. Make sure you rinse the bolts holding the lights on the trailer immediately. After six months, mine were rusted pretty bad and I always wash my trailer when I get home.

  • Replacement Tail Lights for Boat Trailer
A 2015 Mako Pro Skiff 17 is a nice fishing boat but I assume you need taillights for the boat's trailer. While we do not have any specifics on a trailer for that boat, we definitely have taillights that will work. I highly recommend the LED Combination Tail Light Kit because they are bright, long-lasting with a lifetime warranty on the LEDs, and have waterproof housing to ensure they work perfectly with your boat trailer.
