Optronics TL16RK Waterproof Combination Tail Light Kit Dimensions

Sonically Sealed, Waterproof Trailer Light

The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The housing and lens are sonically sealed together to create a single unit, which means that water will not get into the light and damage the diodes or circuit board.

Combination Lights for Trailers Over 80" Wide

Flatbed trailer over 80" wide with combination tail lights

If a trailer is 80" or wider at its widest point, then it requires rear clearance lights in addition to basic trailer lights. These clearance lights indicate the width of the trailer when it is viewed from the back.

To meet these requirements on a flatbed utility trailer where the bed extends past the wheels, you can install combination trailer lights that include the rear clearance function. For proper mounting, the lights must be installed at the widest points on the rear of the trailer - one on each corner.

Surface-Mount Light

Surface Mount Trailer Light Installation Diagram

Surface-mount trailer lights install using a flange or bracket with mounting holes. These lights lay flat against the trailer surface and only require a small, often pre-existing hole, for wiring. Mounting hardware is used to secure the light to the trailer.

PC-Rated Lights

Diagram of light spread for PC rated light

A PC-rated light produces a 90-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 180 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be clearly seen when you are standing directly in front of the light, as well as when you are standing on either side of the light. When properly installed, this type of light can function as both a front clearance light and a side marker light or as a rear clearance light and side marker light.

Working well. We did not use the license plate hanger because it didn't have a light on it. Ended up ordering another one with a light.

They are still working well.

by:

Work great. Bright, and water resistant. !! No issues so far! Look great also!

by:

Very good. Shipping not good.

by:

As described

by:

Easy to wire, easy to install, and so far no issues. Only thing I wish this came with was some wire connectors with shrink tubing. Other than that, works as needed

by:

I was pleased to get the order so quickly, but the parts bag was split open and half of the parts were missing. Because the outer box had a hole in it. I would appreciate another parts bag, because I don't know what parts are missing.

by:

One stop shop for a light overhaul, had to buy 2 smaller side lights to have the full set of lights needed to re-run all the lights and wires for my boat trailer, but this kit gave me 90% of what I needed.

I did have water get into one of the boxes, but a little epoxy around the wires where they enter the box, and problem solved. Best use of a day during my vacation was re-running all of the lights. No more lighting issues every time I put the boat in.

by:

Ordering this light kit was the first time I've used eTrailer.com.
What a pleasant experience. Ordering was a breeze and the follow-up customer service was first class.
Whenever I need trailer parts, it'll be eTrailer.com for me. I will recommend this web site to anyone I know.
I like to shop around online to find the best deal. I went to a competitor's web site that read "low price match guaranty". So I called them on the phone. Their rep said, "We can"t price match eTrailer.com". It was the exact same item. 25% lower price at eTrailer.
Fast shipping, excellent packaging.
And BTW, the lights worked out great.

by:

I received the product in a timely manner. The problems started with installation. I was replacing an existing, non-functioning light set and the wiring appeared to be identical. I made some temporary connections and the red rear lights seemed to work with all functions. However, after hard-wiring and installing all of the lights they failed to work. The package included a bar code to access some installation videos. Unfortunately, these videos did not address the specific product I had, so they were of no use. After hours of experimenting I called for support. Support was friendly and had a technician call me back. After a couple of minutes of chatting, he informed me that this kit would not work with aluminum trailers and that I would need to install a separate, dedicated grounding connecting from all devices. Would have been nice to know that in advance, and perhaps there should be products and packages specifically for aluminum trailers.

by:

Very easy installation! Had an issue with the running lights NOT working after installation. I emailed the team at etrailer.com and they helped me TROUBLESHOOT the problem. It was my vehicle. They went ABOVE and BEYOND to help me find the problem when the light kit installed perfectly the 1st time! Only took about 2.5 hours but that's because I was meticulous about all of the connections and sealing them in heat-shrink tubing for extra protection.

by:

I recently purchased a used boat trailer that required lights, wiring and markers to be replaced. I called customer service at etrailer.com with a list of questions. The representative was very patient and extremely helpful in guiding me to the product she believed met my needs. The new light package was on my doorstep in 3 days. The lights were exactly what I needed, easy to install, and work perfectly. Etrailer.com will be my first choice for any accessory needed to repair or improve my trailer.

by:

It was so easy ordering my submersible trailer lights for my jet ski’s,thank you for the great price and fast service

by:

This is a cheap kit (made in Tiawan) I wish they sold the same kit with better quality that wasn't LED .The parts that I removed from the trailer were of much higher original quality. I would not recommend this product to anyone. The only parts I used from the kit were the tail lights. and license plate bracket. I threw away the side parker lights and went out and bought good ones.

by:

Everything I needed was in the kit with good instructions. Delivery was right on time, With sales follow up I don't know how you could ask for better service.

That's why E-Trailer is the only place I shop now.

Hi I am perfectly satisfied with everything I have gotten from e trailer. Will be back if and when the need arises.

by:

Was exactly as described, works perfectly with my trailer. Would give it a "Excellent" rating if it had included more thorough instructions for attaching the side marker lights and how to waterproof those. Otherwise great!

by:

very happy with purchase.

by:

Purchased this product to rewire a 1980"s double-wide snowmobile trailer. These lights replaced the old ones perfectly, at a great price.

by:

Wish there were more than six wire clips. Washers to backup lock washers would of been nice. All in all very happy with product.

by:

Fast shipping, Product was just what was needed and as described. Tracking info was decent but overall no problem.

by:

Really good value. Easy to hook up, lots of wiring. Very happy!

by:

Note this is made in China and not great quality. Should work fine but may not last. You will need a 10mm socket or box for the tail lights.

by:

There was no information as to the gauge of the wire or if a center brake light was supported. Good hardware, but more documentation would make it better.

by:

Light kit was exactly as describe and easy to install, however as others have noted, the instructions are pretty useless. A little common sense takes care of that though. Good product for the price.

by:

Easy installation. Harness, at 25', was just too short for my trailer, which is 22'.

by:

Nice product. All high quality parts with all the hardware included. The customer service and communication made this transaction a step above what I've been accustomed to.

  • Difference Between Trailer Taillight Kits that are for Over 80 inches in Width and Under 80 inches
There are different taillight requirements for trailers that are over 80 inches in width vs. ones that aren't over 80 inches in width. If you check out the link I attached you will see all of these differenced highlighted. The over 80 inch kits like the part # TL16RK typically come with additional clearance lights when compared to the under 80 kits like the # TL5RK. I attached review videos for both kits for you to check out.

  • How Do the Lights Mount in Trailer Tail Light Kit # TL16RK
Trailer light kit # TL16RK mounts on the heads of the 4 bolts that came with the kit. There are slots on the backs of the lights and the lights will slide onto the bolt heads. There are actually 3 slots per light giving you some adjustability. The amber clearance lights mount through the included mounting brackets but you have to first pop the lights off to access the mounting holes. I have included a couple of pictures showing all of this for you.

  • How to Wire Clearance Lights for the Optronics Trailer Light Kit for Trailers Over 80" Wide
The 2 black wires for the side marker lights that come with the Optronics Trailer Light Kit # TL16RK are used to power the lights. The clearance lights are actually designed to ground using the mounting hardware. If you check out the attached picture you can see that there is a metal strip that runs from an eyelet to where you will use your mounting hardware. So you will simply connect the black wire to the hole that won't be touching that eyelet. This is also addressed in the attached...

  • Can Trailer Lights for 80 Inch Wide Trailers Be Used on Trailers Under 80 Inches Wide
