Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at an LED trailer tail light. Now, this oval LED tail light is designed for trailers. Trailer tail light serves three functions. You have your stop light, tail light, and your turn signal light also has the built-in reflector strips. It does feature a waterproof housing and lens unit and it contains a total of 52 diodes or LEDs. LEDs make great replacements for incandescent lights, they last longer, they burn brighter and they're much more efficient.
You don't have to worry about replacing bulbs or worry about brittle filaments. The unit contains a red lens with a black base and it comes with a wiring. It's a three wire design, so the white wire is the ground wire, the black wire is the main power wire so that would be for the tail lights or for the running lights and the red wire is the power wire for the stop and turn signals.It is SAE and Department of Transportation compliant. It's a surface mount installation so it mounts on the surface of the trailer, hardware's not included. It has two mount holes on the unit and it comes with a foam mounting gasket.
We're gonna take a look at the measurements real quick and then we'll hook it up to power so you can see what it looks like with some power running to it.Measuring edge to edge going in this direction, the unit measures about eight and three eighths inches. Edge to edge this direction, that's about five and three quarter inches. The overall thickness is only seven eighths of an inch thick so it's a nice low profile design. The mount holes on the unit are separated on the center by seven and nine sixteenths. So, again, the white wire is our ground wire, black wire is for the running lights, and then red wire is for the stop and turn signal.I'll go ahead and go through it with the overhead lights on.
So this is the running light function, brake, turn signal. Turn off our lights and do the same thing. Running lights, brake, and turn. So you can see that it sends out a nice consistent signal. Again, it has 52 diodes, so the multi-diode design really helps optimize the overall light output.That's gonna do it for today's look at the LED trailer tail light..

Great light but I dropped a star because the foam gasket doesn't really keep the water from getting behind it and going in the holes for the wiring. I ended up caulking the top and sides so no more water gets in. I'm quite happy with the light.
