Trailer Lights with Reflectors for confident visibility
Light up your rig's outline and boost nighttime visibility by pairing trailer lights with reflectors. Choose stick-on pieces or conspicuity tape to mark frames, gates, steps, or racks; each segment of red or white marking tape must be from 6" to 18" long, and reflectors can be installed in a repetitive pattern of 2 or 3 white reflectors alternating with 2 or 3 red reflectors with the center of each not more than 4" from the next.
Pick shapes and colors that match your existing reflectors; red and amber options are common. For stick-on styles, clean and dry the surface and apply firm, even pressure. If you expected a raised dome but got a flat reflective sticker, verify the style before ordering. If an adhesive-backed unit loosens, replace it and consider a screw-on style for that location.
Yes, reflectors can be used in place of tape when installed in the right pattern. Use a repetitive pattern of 2 or 3 white reflectors alternating with 2 or 3 red reflectors, with centers no more than 4" apart. If you use tape instead, segments of red or white should be 6" to 18" long, and in a continuous strip one color can't exceed 2/3 of the total length.
Add reflectors where they'll catch headlights directly. Mounting them on the back side of light boxes or a drop-down gate made a low utility trailer easier to see while backing at night. Clean the surface and align them at driver eye level when possible. Check that the adhesive is fully set before use.
Stick-on reflectors can hold very firmly and be super reflective. They've stuck well to slick surfaces and can be hard to remove without a scraper. Clean the mounting area before applying and press firmly. If you notice an adhesive failure or a reflector separating from its backing, replace it and consider a different mounting style for that spot.
