Comparing Kenda KR03, KR35, And KR53 Tires

Updated 06/30/2026 | Published 06/25/2026

Question:

I am having a hard time comparing the kenda karrier KR03, KR35, and KR53. From the kenda website, I’d think they are listed in terms of quality in defending order as I have listed them KR03 being the best. The price is inconsistent with the KR35 cheaper in a mounted wheel option and KR53 cheaper as a tire only option. What is the best tire of these three and the second best?

Hey Bryan, that's a good question. The pricing can definitely be misleading, but I wouldn't use it to judge the quality of the tire. A lot of that comes down to promotions, inventory, and whether you're looking at a tire by itself or mounted on a wheel.

If I were ranking them, I'd go KR53 first, KR35 second, and KR03 third.

The KR53 is Kenda's newest premium trailer tire. It has an updated tread pattern, improved heat dissipation, and an 81-mph speed rating, making it my top choice for frequent highway towing and long trips.

The KR35 is also a very good radial trailer tire with an 81-mph speed rating. It has a slightly more traditional tread design than the KR53, but it's still a dependable tire that I'd have no problem running.

The KR03 has been around the longest and has a proven track record. It's still a solid tire, but it's an older design that doesn't incorporate some of the refinements found in the KR35 and KR53.

If it were my trailer and all three were available at similar prices, I'd spend the extra few bucks and go with the KR53. It's the newest design and, in my opinion, the best overall tire Kenda currently offers.

What kind of trailer are you putting them on?
