Thoroughly Tested for Safety

This hub-and-drum assembly meets the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. This assembly underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. This assembly has also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Was not padded well for shipping, collar had broken through box top and plastic cap was smashed, looks like shipper covered the hole in the box with packing tape. Drum seemed to be OK and fit fine.

Definitely not what we want to happen. I can have a replacement grease cap sent out to you right away.

Coming home from a fishn trip I stop at a store to get a snack. I looked at the wheels on my boat trailer and see one poaking out futher than the other and the work begins. We take the wheel off and tie up the axle for the trip home. I needed a new hub. Wish I had caught it sooner. So the next day I take what was left off and call etrailer. They helped me to get the right hub. Then I decide to check all the bearings on both boats, glad I did. On the pontoon I find out the drum assembly bearins was really bad. After removing it I figured it would be easier just to replace the whole thing, especially when I looked at the prices at etrailer. If I had kept the old drum I would have had to had it turned and smoothed out and then replace bearings and those hard to change out bearing holders. The folks at etrailer worked with me to get the right one for my trailer and when I got it (shipping was fast) all I had to do was add grease and slip it on. So far so good and I fish a lot. I do have 2 boats and both of my boats have bearings and hubs from etrailer. I guess I keep going back because it is easy to call and talk to a person, that can help me in what I need and get the right part the first time. In this area they were doing road work and had the roads really messed up for awhile. The rough roads worked on those older bearings, now that they are fixed maybe I won't need to change them out as often, so far so good. PS- But if I do I know where to go, even got a few extra's laying around. :-)

Great quality they have all the parts you need. Delivery was earlier than expected. Will be using the brake kit for boat trailer. Replace old out dated hydraulic brakes.

All working great

by:

Overall the hubs look good quality. I was disappointed by the shipping as three of the four I ordered boxes were ripped from shipping. This caused some scuff marks on the face of the hub and the outside bearing plug to be destroyed.

by:

Added brakes to my 17 ft. Trailer. Brakes went on perfectly and these drums matched with no problems. Once again quick delivery and no issues.

Excellent still. It was literally plug and play. I lube my hub every 5000 miles or so. Working perfectly, smooth ride and most of all I feel safe with this product on my trailer.

by:

The hub and drum assembly came with inner and outer bearing pre-installed ( as per my request) from Alex at etrailer. All the parts needed to assemle were there and made installation easy.

by:

It was a pleasure as always shopping at etrailer. It was easy to learn how to measure the bolt pattern with the given instructions via your website. There was a wide variety of in stock selections to choose from and the price was very reasonable. The easy access grease cap was bonus

by:

Order arrived in time and the install went well. The trailer brakes work great.
Thanks to Etrailer for supplying everything beeded for another successful project.

by:

Purchased these to replace the Dexter drums on my Coleman pop up camper. The hubs had plenty of grease and the bearings already in place. I just had to reinstall the existing flat washer, castle nut, and pin. It shipped with two different dust caps. I used the one with the easy grease cap. Overall very happy with the product.

by:

Item arrived quickly and intact. Installation of the brakes and drums took a couple of hours and were very easy. Brakes and drums worked very well. I may change the other axle drums next. Thanks.

I loved the way the new parts helped my trailer tow. It was smoother and more secure. I have now sold this trailer but when I need new equipment I will seek the same parts

by:

great kit, I would highly recommend this if you needed everything here!
bolt on and go!

by:

Fast delivery and now the trailer has good brakes.

by:

Great customer service. I made a mistake on my order. Called customer service and they made it very easy to get the product I needed and return the product I had accidentally purchased. Thanks etrailer

by:

Great Pruduct. Exactly as described.

by:

Eric always gets the right parts I need. This Trailer Hub Drum fit perfectly and was much cheaper than the name brand. I am totally satisfied with this product.

by:

Excellent parts service and customer service. These folks are friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Received the parts and discovered one of the parts was damaged in shipping. Contacted them and Neil was on it immediately. The part is on the way. I will always buy from this company.

by:

literally plug and play; product fits great. quick shipping and helpful customer service. but please include the cotter pin, especially since lugs are in the kit. it makes no sense to omit a 10 cent part and make your customers have to go out to a store to find one. would buy again.

by:

Great for a easy swap no need to pack the bearings with grease slip on and tighten it down and it’s good to go!

by:

Thank you for making the process of doing the brakes on my trailer and easy one. Now I have the peace of mind knowing that I have a great brake system to keep me and my family safe while traveling.

by:

I ordered these hubs/drums as a pair, they included the bearings, races, seals, lug nuts and dust caps. They had a painted coating on the outside to prevent corrosion and they bolted right up. I would recommend.

by:

When I purchased the hub and drum assembly for our travel trailer, they appeared good. Installed them and headed out for 3 week adventure brakes were marginal, and headed home with almost no brakes. This spring disassembled the brakes and found grease everywhere on all 4 hubs. Found bearings were over packed from the factory. Removed approx. 2 cups of grease and verified bearings were correctly packed. Checked grease seals for failure, they were fine. I would use caution with these pre grease units like mine being overly greased. Called e-trailer and informed them of problem and they had no other reports of problems, they seemed disinterest in my concerns. This resulted in needing to entirely disassemble brakes and thoroughly clean entire assembly. Brakes now are working as they should.

by:

Easy swap out from my old ones, very glad I chose these over the other options that were not pre-greased and packed. Highly recommend.

by:

Best advice is to buy parts from a more reputable company.

by:

Our racing season almost came to a quick halt when my Haulmark trailer had a bearing explode, taking out the hub. I found e-trailer by accident and ordered a complete hub and bearing kit. The price was amazing, the quality was amazing and to top it off the company upgraded the shipping and I had it in two days! I am impressed with not only the quality but all the information on the website to include the videos and tech tips. Because of the experience, I have decided to add new bearings and hubs all the way around. Well done!! Off to the drags that I did not think we would be attending this weekend!

  • Should Spacers be Used to Move Tires Further Away from Trailer Frame
I do not recommend using spacers in the RV industry be it a motorhome or trailer because it can cause additional stress on the running gear and cause all sorts of problems from bad tire wear to bearing issues. Hub and drum assembly # AKHD-545-35-K doesn't extend out any further than other hub and drum assemblies so whether or not it will work with the spacer depends on the spacer design. If it were me I would go back to the 205/75-14 tires. If you were having tire wear issues or blow...

  • Which Hub, Drum and Brakes Do I Need for 3500-lbs Axle with L44649 Outer Bearing
I may have a solution for you, but there is not an L44549 bearing; it's possible that you mean the # L44649, which is a fairly common bearing and can be found in many hubs that fit on 3500-lbs axles. For a 3,500 lb axle with outer bearing # L44649 and inner bearing # L68149 (1.378" inner diameter) you could use the Bearing Kit # BK2-100 or get a complete hub and drum assembly with the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-545-35-K; this hub and drum has a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern, which...

Now we will want to figure out why the brakes are still locking up with the new breakaway switch. Even if you fried the brake magnets, the brakes should not lock up if the breakaway system is setup properly. We don't offer a 3500 lb axle with that short of a hub face dimension. You might be able to order a custom axle locally, but we don't ship custom axles. Timbren offers an Axle-Less suspension system that would eliminate the need for the axle beam and the leaf springs, which might be a good choice for you. For a 2200 lb option with brakes, I'd recommend the # ASR1THDS01 Axle-Less system. This would be comatible with the # AKHD-545-35-K hub/drum with a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern and the...
