Most brake controllers take up precious cabin space, but this one hides the main unit completely out of sight. The Redarc Tow-Pro Elite tucks the 4" long x 3-3/8" wide x 1-1/8" tall control box behind the dash, leaving only a small knob visible—just 1-7/8" long and 9/16" wide. It fits neatly into a blank switch panel or console slot and keeps your dash clean. The included universal mounting panel helps it look like a factory switch, not an add-on.

Uneven trails, mud, or steep grades can throw off your braking balance. With the Tow-Pro Elite’s off-road mode, you set a fixed braking force that works independently of your tow rig’s brakes. Keep it light in sand or mud so the trailer doesn’t bog you down, or turn it up on steep descents so it doesn’t push you forward. Activate it by pressing the knob twice within a second—the LED glows green so you know you’re set.

The built-in 3-axis accelerometer measures how hard you’re braking and automatically applies matching power to your trailer brakes. This proportional control means balanced stops with no jerky push-pull feeling between tow rig and trailer. It works with 1 to 3 axles (6 brake assemblies) and supports both electric and electric-over-hydraulic setups. The result is smoother towing, less wear on tires and pads, and better control in tough conditions.

No splicing or guesswork here. The included custom harness plugs directly into your factory tow wiring for a simple connection that avoids fault codes. It supports both 12-volt and 24-volt electrical systems with an output range of 9V–32V and delivers up to 25 amps continuous. Mount the main box securely using screws, tape, or zip ties (not included), plug in the harness, and the system calibrates automatically as you drive.

The Tow-Pro Elite isn’t just compact—it’s tested to meet strict UNECE R21 and FMVSS 201 safety standards. That means reliable operation that protects both you and your braking system trip after trip. A simple push on the knob gives you manual override when needed, activating trailer brakes and brake lights instantly for sway control or emergency stops.

Brad Hello neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look at the vehicle-specific wiring harness, that will work in conjunction with the Tow-Pro Elite electric trailer brake controller. These harnesses are going to be great to work with your Tow-Pro Elite in a variety of different trucks and SUVs. Now, make sure that you get your vehicle-specific harness. You're going to want to use our fit guide on "etrailer.com", and that's going to make sure that you get the right harness, and that way your install goes nice and easy.
Included in the REDARC kit, you will find this plugin adapter, and this is going to have these spliced ends, and you're gonna have to tie into your brake signal, your brake output, your power output and your ground. Now, if you are pretty handy with electrical, that's awesome. That's great. You can use this. But I'm the kind of person, plug and play in OEM kind of setup or really nice factory one like this.
This is the vehicle-specific harness. So this ties in directly to our factory tow system, and clips right in, it's got this nice braided sheathing on it, to kind of protect the wires, and then it plugs directly into our module here. So, to save yourself a little bit of headache and time, and make the install go that much smoother, and not have to worry about loose connections, I highly recommend getting the vehicle-specific harness. So this end of the plug is specific to your vehicle. As you can tell, it looks like the factory plug, it fits in perfect, has the locking mechanism, so you aren't gonna have to worry about loose connections happening with your plug, and it's going to make install a lot easier.
And that was a look at the vehicle-specific harness for the Tow-Pro Elite electric trailer brake controller..

That’s awesome to hear, and that setup looks great too. That Mini Lite behind your Grand Cherokee is a really clean combo. I love hearing how it’s actually performed for you out on the road, especially in those “oh man” moments where things could’ve gone sideways. 12,000 miles without issues says a lot. Really appreciate you taking the time to share that, and the photo too. What kind of trips are you usually taking with it, more long hauls or just getting out on the weekends?

Love this, sounds like you and your brake controller are already best friends Robert =) We’re glad the install treated you well, especially that “set it and forget it” calibration. Hard to beat. And you’re absolutely right about the mounting panel tip. That’s one of those little details that makes the whole setup look factory clean. Also appreciate you calling out the smooth, jerk free braking. That’s exactly what we like to hear. Safe stops mean happy towing.

It works great with no issues. I have a 2015 Chevy Colorado though, not a Honda pilot as the post says.

Pulled my enclosed cargo trailer 4800 miles this past year moving to Texas. Trailer brake still functions perfectly. Im sure it will work with other trailers in the future as I will now sell my 20cargo trailer.

The trailer brake controller still looks great. It works perfectly, although I don’t tow on a regular basis. When I do tow, the controller is easy to use.

Thanks for your review, Eric! It sounds like the installation took a little creativity, but I'm glad the videos and instructions helped you get everything wired up and working properly on your Durango. Thanks for including the photo of your controller setup, too. What are you towing with your Durango?
