7-Way Trailer Connector and Brake Controller Install on 2020 Nissan Pathfinder

Question:

How do I know if my 2020 Nissan Pathfinder comes already set up to install 7 pin plug? That would mean it already has brake controller installed?

All 2020 Nissan Pathfinders come from the factory prewired for a brake controller and a 7-way trailer connector, though it might lack the 7-way and the relays needed to activate the tow package. You will need a brake controller.

If your vehicle doesn't already have a 7-way, you can easily install one using part # 118273. You will also need a # PK12711U bracket and a # 18136 no-drill mount if your hitch doesn't already have a trailer connector mounting tab on it.

For a brake controller, I really like the Redarc Tow Pro Liberty, part # RED24FR and the # RED39FR wiring harness that plugs into the connector under the dash which is located up above the emergency brake pedal. The Tow Pro Liberty installs under the dash, out of sight with the only control needed being the control knob which can install in an unused switch knockout on the dash as shown in the provided photo.

I've linked to some videos that you might find helpful. One is an install video for the # 118273 harness, one shows a different brake controller being installed in a Pathfinder, but it does clearly show where the under dash connector is located and a third showing how the Redarc Tow Pro Liberty works.
