Rear Suspension Support

SumoSprings helper springs are great for pickup trucks. Towing or hauling a heavy load can cause sag as your factory suspension compresses under the weight of the load. This means that the rear axle is trying to support not only the extra load but also the truck's weight. And because there is less weight on your front axle, your front tires make less contact with the road, which causes problems with traction, steering, and braking. SumoSprings upgrade your factory suspension to level your vehicle, improve driving performance, and keep your ride comfortable.

installed spring when it is not compressed

SumoSprings provide progressive load control - the more you load them, the stiffer they become. With a lighter load, the springs will compress easily for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. The springs can also compress by as much as 80 percent to support a heavy rear load and to help your factory suspension bear up under the load. This evens out the weight, which levels your vehicle and ensures that your front tires are making better contact with the road. A level ride means that you have improved driving control, ensures safe headlight aim, and helps to minimize sway. The springs also support your factory suspension, which helps prevent sagging and reduces bottoming out.

Installed spring when it is compressed

The springs work independently from one another to support each side of your vehicle. This action helps to reduce body roll when you make a sharp turn. This also helps compensate for an off-center load.

Durable, Custom-Fit Springs

These microcellular urethane springs are tough. They resist abrasion, oil, salt, and UV rays that can more quickly wear out other springs, and they perform well in temperatures ranging from -25 F to 200 F (-33 C to 93 C).

SumoSprings expand and compress vertically with minimum expansion to the sides, so they won't be damaged by nearby mechanical parts, and they fit safely into tighter spots. And unlike air springs, SumoSprings require no maintenance or adjustment.

The helper springs are custom designed to fit your vehicle, and they install easily - no drilling required.

Video Transcript for Let’s Check Out the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs-SS96EV

Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the SumoSprings Solo custom helper springs for your rear axle. This is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2022 Nissan Frontier vehicles, and on custom fit part like this, I do like to recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your model and vehicle and it'll show you if this'll work for your application. Now, these helper springs will upgrade your vehicle's rear suspension for improved driver control and comfort. They'll help keep your vehicle level when you're towing or hauling a heavy load and they'll help to absorb any bumps and shocks, help minimize sway.

They are progressive load control, the springs will compress according to the weight of your cargo. So if you have a lighter load, the springs compress easily at first for their soft engagement, less bumpy ride. And then if you have a heavier load, the springs will compress by as much as 80% for support. These springs will work independently from each other to compensate for off-center loads, help reduce body roll during sharp turns. They are made of a durable microcellular urethane.

They're designed to work in temperatures from a negative 25 degrees Fahrenheit up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit, and this material will resist damage that can be caused by oils, road salts and UV rays. They do offer minimal lateral expansion, meaning the springs'll compress vertically instead of to the side, so they aren't easily damaged when operating in tight spaces. And they are maintenance free, there's no tubing to run or air pressure to monitor like with air springs. They are a simple no-drill installation, they do bolt on. It does include the two jounce-style springs right here, the two spacers, a tube of thread locker when you install it, and a nice set of instructions that'll describe how these install.

These are made in the USA. Few specs, again, the weight capacity at 50% compression, that's 1400 pounds. And the thing you do need to remember is the SumoSprings will not increase your vehicle's weight carrying capacity. But that should do it for the review on the SumoSprings Solo custom helper springs for your rear axle..

2022 Nissan Frontier

This did not fit the 2022 Nissan king cab. I did not see that this was called out in the documents provided on the site. I did find the etrailer hills very helpful but also, am being charged $18 as a return fee The ones which I need have brackets and are on their way.

Added picture of stock bump stops. Heads up!!

Had one on my 00 tacoma and loved them, unfortunately it was totaled. End up getting another set for my 22 pro4x.

2022 Nissan Frontier

This is a great upgrade to the rear bump stop. Install the blues one on my 22 Frontier 4x4 CC. Very well made and easy to install. Still ride like factory. I haven’t load it up with stuff yet. I think it will do great. I still have have about 1/2 inch space between the spring and axle. That’s with the spacer install. I give this a 4 star for only one reason. Because when I received my springs. The threads were not quite clean at the tip. So i was having trouble installing them. But i do own a tap n dies set. So i was able to clean the threads up. Then it screw right on in. Would have been a 5 star if i didn’t have to clean the threads up. It a M8x1.25 pitch.

Install on my 2022 Nissan Frontier was a breeze. I haven’t tested them out yet but they are WAY more heavy duty than the stops they replaced.

Very easy to install (new pickup, no rust!) and very happy with the performance. Good ride unloaded, good ride with a load, though have not worked them hard yet.

  • SumoSprings Recommendation for a 2022 Nissan Frontier with Max-ed Out Carrying Capacity
Since you plan on pushing your 2022 Nissan Frontier to the limits I recommend going with the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SS46EV over the kit # SS96EV simple for the higher 1,800 lb rating. It is important to remember though that these are only going to help support that weight and won't actually increase the weight capacity of your vehicle.
