Fairly quick shipping for a new model year vehicle. 15 minutes to install and looks great, and we'll made. Would highly recommend etrailer.

Comments
After 1 year of use and I towed a lot when we moved to a different state last year. It has been rock solid. I retorqued the bolts once that’s it.

2015 Nissan Frontier

To no fault of etrailer, I was very surprised of the poor attention to detail with a product manufactured by Curt. Although made of a good heavy gauge steel with a nicely painted finish, the prefabricated bolt hole cutouts did not match up accurately regardless of which bolt I started with and did not tighten down until all bolts were adequately able to be started as this receiver is designed to be mounted.
If it weren’t for having the ability to slightly bend one side of the mounting bracket, this particular receiver would not have been compatible to be properly installed as designed on a 2015 Nissan Frontier SV.

Comments
While it is not super common, it can happen where the side brackets of a hitch are knocked out of alignment. When the hitches are shipped to us they are shipped stacked together in large pallets which means that at times they arrive with slightly bent brackets that are not visible until the hitch is installed. You have already done what we would recommended by bending it back into placed. We do have an FAQ that has suggestions on how to do so.

Hitch (Part 13241) and electrics (Part 118266) arrived on time, 40 minutes later everything was installed and connected. Had to ream out the washers to fit the bolts and drill new holes in the Mounting Box (Part 18157) to fit the 7-Way connector ... overall good value.

Comments
One year down the road still performing according to expectation.

perfect fit. only drawback is no mount plate for trailer wiring kit as with other (u-haul) hitches. but my nissan had a couple of holes in bumper frame I adapted for the connector.

by:
2012 Nissan Frontier

One side was bent in making it so I had to use a C-clamp and clamp the drivers side to the frame of the Nissan Frontier and draw it over into place. Once there, I had to also ream the last remaining bolt hole because the bracket was too far forward.

I have read other people have had this problem and etrailer has claimed the metal can spring back during shipping.

I have two things to say on this.

One, metal does not randomly spring out of place. The bracket had to be either not tacked in 4 places before it was welded, which makes the welding process draw that side piece over, or the fit and cut was done improperly.

Two, if they now this happens, then they should put a little slop in some of the holes , so we can work it around.

Other than that, it is a hitch, what more can I say?

Nice, affordable, and good quality hitch. Put on a bike rack on it, and also towed a car trailer with it. I like it.

Nissan

The first thing I will say was the customer service at Etrailer.com was awesome. I called up with some questions they were answered and I was guided in the right direction and got the right product for my 2012 Nissan front tier crew cab pick up but more importantly there's no high-pressure sale or buying things I did not need. That to me just as a consumer says a lot that you can call a company get an American on the phone will give you good customer service and advice that's getting to be a rear concept nowadays. The hitch arrived as ordered and after some cleaning out and lubrication of the weld nuts on the frame it was easy to install I guess where the hitch on top of me and did kind of a benchpress motion to secure it with a couple bolts then was able to snug it up. The only complaint I had was installing around the muffler they just seems to be one bolt the does not want to get snugged up. It took some finessing and for all I know it's probably cross threaded in there but it's in there forever now not really any trailers fault or Curt hitches fault it seems to be a poor design by Nissan that unless you have some mongoloid long extension it's hard to snug up that bolt. The curt hitch seems very well-made and I like the fact that it is a America and keeps jobs in this country plus you can really tell the extra coating is on there which is nice here in Massachusetts with our salt filled winters. If I had a longer extension I think it would've been easier to install around the muffler but the total install time start to finish for me was only about 12 minutes and I did it myself.

Comments
Maybe you had the same problem I had! Five of the bolts shipped were the correct size 12M-1.25 and one was the wrong size M12-1.50! Good thing I screwed the bolts by hand first and when the odd one would not screw in easily, I gave it one turn with a wrench. It was still not going in so I unscrewed it and took it to Lowes to find out if it was the right size. Tried it out on the nutbolt board they have on display and that is when I found out that it was not the correct size! I was lucky to find a metric bolt size 12M-1.25! The installation was smooth after I had the correct size bolt! The packing of the hitch could have been better!

I really like this receiver, it tucks up nice and high, and out of the way, and seems pretty stout. I have a 2011 4wd Frontier, so I like the ground clearance. You just get the right height hitch for whatever you’re towing.
I like my trailer and truck height even, I’m kind of Type ‘A’ about that stuff! I can’t stand a saggy trailer or Truck

by:

Product was slightly bent and took 3 hrs to install.Curtis hitch and ball that goes with it is rusty and the pin jams when towing.

Comments
It sounds like that the side brackets were knocked out of alignment which is why the bolt holes are not lining up. This can happen while in transit to our facility or to you. We do have a great FAQ that provides ways to move the brackets back into alignment so the hitch can be installed. I recommend using a hitch ball grease like part # 58117
White Grease Hitch Ball Lube
$12.14
to help protect the ball.

Installation on Nissan Frontier NP 300 (singe cab) 2020 in Aruba, Dutch Antilles, in the Caribbean Sea off the coast of Venezuela. Excellent and professional service

by:

For the price you can't beat it. The only negitives are:
1) the washers that are included are just a bit to
small in center diameter. The bolts must be
screwed in before instalation.

2) one of the brackets was bent about 5
degrees inward, which made it impossible to
start the bolts. I ended up having to use c
clamps to pull it to the frame to start the
bolts.

Be aware that etrailer's guidelines for review prevent me from explaining my rating. I could give you the good and the bad, but not if I follow the company's guidelines which are slanted to control what potential customers can learn about the company's service.

If you receive a hitch that is not bent(holes line up perfectly), you'll have a 5 star experience. Not in my case.

Somewhere along the line both the mounting arms were bent inward.. about 1 inch on one side and 3/4" on the other. I did not see damage to the insides of box...probably a warehouse/handling issue.
(etrailer should verify alignment before sending)

I have a workbench and what I thought would be a solid enough vise to bend things back in alignment... nope. I only have a 4" vise with a swivel base and that is not going to work. (swivel would give/rotate whole vise)

Turns out you'll need a beefy vise that does not swivel at the base(or quality vise that wont allow to swivel under "extreme" load) connected to a sturdy workbench...my setup was not up to the task. --if you have a decent setup(6" non swiveling base, solid bench) or have access to one you should be fine.

In the end, after 3 weeks(i carried hitch in my suv in case I ran across something), I finally ran across a shipping container type box that had a 1/3" gap in between the cement and bottom of container.... slipped the bent arm in there, gave it some muscle and aligned it into place... once straight(verified with straight edge), it went on no issues. Some of the powder coat is scuffed/bare metal due to this manipulating so use soft jaws or towels/etc(durr) .

Next hitch I get will probably be from a brick and mortar location so they can deal with any alignment issues for me.
Dealing with etrailer as an online seller was great/straightforward and they price matched + %10 but I would rather pay a little more and just bolt it on w/o further hassle.

Comments
It sounds like you knew what you were doing to get your flexed hitch straightened back out. Ive linked a help article with further tips on correcting a flexed hitch. You mentioned that there are some bare spots on the hitch from the concrete. Its a good idea to cover those bare metal spots with some rust-inhibiting black spray paint to help prevent the metal from rusting.

2011 Nissan Frontier

I ordered my etrailer towing bar for my 2011 Nissan Frontier and got it 2 days later with a Federal holiday in there to boot. The instructions were simple and straightforward, online videos were instructive also. It is recommended to have a 2nd set of hands for the weight of it, but I did not and just used jack stands to support and align. All bolt holes lines up with my factory ones, easy peasy. Good support from company with followup email to make sure I had gotten product and was happy with it. Great product and company. Highly recommend them. Jon T.

I was able to install the hitch single handed with the aid of a floorjack. Everything matched up and the installation was finished in about 30 minutes. Sweet!

Now I can pull my trailer with worrying about damaging my bumper and get those projects done around the house and yard. Thanks for making this installation as smooth as possible with the tips from your website. Next time I need something for my truck or trailer, etrailer.com will be the first place I look!

Saturn Relay

Product received in good condition. Bolted right up with no problem. Most difficult part was managing the weight of the hitch and getting bolts started.
Wiring relay connections was a breeze to install. Most difficult part of this proceedure was the removal of the factory installed protective cap under the rear of the truck so the 4 prong wire plug could be plugged in. Over all installtion of everything took about an hour, but i took my time to be sure I got everything right.

I never write reviews but this was such a great experience I thought I would say a few words. First, the delivery time was 1 day earlier than promised which was great. I wasn't too sure about the wiring and the available videos were incredibly helpful. Also, my truck is older and they had helpful videos on how to deal with the rusty weld bolts --- The product quality is also great. All around great experience!
