Longer stinger let me drop the tailgate on my Tacoma with trailer attached. Replaced a similar but shorter Curt hitch and both are very substantial and well made for the weight of my trailer.

by:

I purchased this Curt Ball mount 10-1/4" because I also bought ball hitch mounted mud flaps and my existing hitch was too short. This hitch was maybe a little too long, but it should work.I hope this combination will protect my horse trailer from my nasty gravel roads!

With good information from the website it was easy to order a Curt 2"
Trailer Hitch, the Upgraded Circuit Protected Tail Light Converter Hardwire Kit w/ 4-Pole Connector and Circuit Tester - 119178KIT, Curt Ball Mount for 2" Hitches (3/4" Rise, 2" Drop - 10-1/4" Long - 7,500 lbs - D-4), Curt Pin and Clip Hitch Receiver - C21500, Rubber Tube Cover for 2" Trailer Hitch Receivers - I-728,Review, and 2" hitch ball 40038. Parts were delivered earlier than the initial estimate. Self installation (on a sloped drive way) took just under 2 hour. The fit of parts was very good, instructions and on-line video's were very helpful. My Kia did not have the wire plug in option, but the splice connections in the wire kit were easy to install. Most of the parts are hidden from view when the ball mount is not used.

I have a custom made tow guard. The ball mount I have was too short to allow me to attach the tow guard to my new truck. I searched the web and found just what I needed at etrailer.com. It's the only site I found that carried the size I needed. The product fits my needs perfectly. I can now protect my boat from rocks and other road debris when towing. Thank you etrailer.com.

There are some ball mounts that do include the hitch pin and the ball with them, like kit # C45036. If you were not needing a ball and wanted to get a kit with just the pin and clip included with the ball mount, we do have part # 2923.

I purchased this unit to extend the trailer jack handle just far enough that I could open the tailgate on my truck with the trailer attached. It worked perfect. I tow a pop-up camper with 2006 Toyota Tacoma. Pricing was good and delivery was quick from etrailer. At first I tried to buy locally from auto parts store or camper store, but neither had in stock anything the right dimensions. The unit from etrailer is made in the USA, fit just right, and was better quality than what I saw locally.

by:

I have to back up a hill and around a corner with arthritis in my neck to park my boat. I installed a front trailer hitch on my suv and needed this longer shaft Ball Mount to keep the ball far enough away from my license plate and front bumber that I won't damage my vehicle. The unit fits the bill to a "T" and has already gotten compliments from others for its quality and stability. I look forward to fishing season so I can use it.

by:

I bought this ball mount to replace a shorter unit (8.5"-9") in order for the tailgate to clear the jack on one of my trailers when down. The first one that was delivered had a lot of damage to the powder coat finish due to rough shipping (UPS!). etrailer was very quick to send another out that arrived unscathed. Thanks again!

by:

Having searched and not finding what I wanted or perhaps not really knowing what I wanted, I called and talked to Cathy. She was very helpful and knowledgeable. She checked and guided me to a longer shank which will give me a longer turning radius, as the tongue on my trailer is short and is a problem. The unit is a solid piece of equipment. I had a clevis pin from a 1 1/4" shank and thought I would use that and not order another and she advised me that the pin for a 2" shaft is larger and I needed a new one. She was so good and accommodating I even asked for her boss to commend her for her good work and pleasant personality. Jlw

Top-notch product. Just completed a 1400 mile trip pulling a trailer with my Chevy Equinox and my etrailer hitch: issue free! That's the best

by:

Fit my application perfectly - I wanted more space between the tow vehicle and trailer jack so that I could open my tailgate with the trailer attached. Gave me just enough clearance. Shipping was fast, service was great - thanks etrailers!!

by:

Well made heavy duty trailer hitch ball mount just what I needed
so the tailgate would clear the jack stand

by:

I have a Toyota Tacoma pulling an A-Liner Expedition. Used a Ball and Ball mount from Wal-Mart last year. I upgraded to this and heavier rated Ball, and we noticed an immediate difference.

E-Trailer staff, keep doing what you are doing. Your company and products have just earned a loyal customer. Thank You!!

by:

I was throughly pleased with etrailers quick response and fast shipping. The ball mount I ordered was packaged well, and was good quality.I think I have found a good source for my towing-trailer needs.I'll admit there are not too many moving parts on a ball mount, but they got the job done and treated me right.

Big thank you too everybody at etrailer,

Billy Elkins

Be aware that etrailer's guidelines for review prevent me from explaining my rating. I could give you the good and the bad, but not if I follow the company's guidelines which are slanted to control what potential customers can learn about the company's service.

by:

Perfect for my clamp on bike rack, C18013, on my V60. Gave me just enough area to mount it on.

by:

Great fast service.
The new one I purchased
is a 10-1/4" long. My original was 8-1/2". I have a travel trailer and had a heck of a time turning with the 8-1/2". The new 10-1/4" made all the difference. I can turn the trailer without any issues. It has the same rating as my 8-1/2" also. Works great.

by:

Just what I wanted!

by:

I wanted a longer hitch sleeve to prevent back the trailer winch into the tailgate of my pickup and this works perfectly for that purpose. Price was great too! Thank you etrailer!

by:

This is the 10th order I have made from etrailer.com, most of them with multiple items. I cannot say enough about what great experiences I have had with etrailer.com. The website is incredibly helpful, the search tools are great, and the specs, videos and other information are very helpful. The items always ship right away, and arrive well packaged and promptly - and for me they have to cross the border to Canada. I recommend this site to my friends with trailers and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a great experience - and who doesn’t!

by:

Received quickly. Happy with unit. The extra length is helpful for backing the trailer into tight areas by keeping the trailer a little further from the truck bumper.

by:

It is too large to slide into the 2" receiver. I may have to grind off some of the coating ti get it slide in and out easily. There was no pin with the hall mount so I will have to get one.

by:

WORKS GREAT TAILGATE NOW CLEARS TRAILER JACK

Received this Trailer Hitch Ball Mount just as described. Just what I needed. Great workmanship.

  • B&W Tow & Stow Ballmount Needed With An Extra Long Shank
Hey Charles, The Brophy # BH20 has a 13-1/4" from center of hitch pin hole to center of ball hole, which is a bit more than the B&W Tow & Stow ballmounts have so the closest option is going to be the B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount # BWTS10033B. It has a 9-1/4" distance from the center of the first hitch pin hole and 10-3/8" to the center of the rear hitch pin hole. With the 2-5/16" hitch ball your rated for 10k and you'll have a maximum drop of 3"/maximum rise of 3-1/2". This is for a...

I've linked you to the installation instructions as well as to an install video that you might find helpful. The # 37042 hitch you referred to has been discontinued, but when it was available it was a fit for a first generation (2001-2007 model years). It would not be a fit for your Tacoma. In order to determine the rise or drop you need on a ball mount with your 2015 BMW X5, you will just need to take a couple quick measurements. Starting on the BMW, you will want to take a measurement from the ground to the top of the trailer hitch receiver. Then on your trailer, you will measure from the ground to the bottom of the coupler. If the measurement on your vehicle is greater, you will need a ball mount with a drop. If the trailer measurement was greater, you will need one with...
