Hello Tom,

I really wish I could give you a part number for the Tekonsha Prodigy P3, but Tekonsha was owned by First Brands and they filed for bankruptcy. At this time no one has purchased the brand, so the P3 is not available right now. I was definitely bummed, as it was my go-to recommendation.

With that said, I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller - Dash Knob - Off-Road Mode - Up to 3 Axles - Proportional # RED44FR. Redarc is right up there in quality with the P3 and has been very reliable. This will be a splice-in installation since you do not have the tow package.

When you mentioned you do not have any factory wiring, did you mean you do not have a 7-way at the back, or were you referring to the plug under the dash for the brake controller?

Hi, I’m a year plus in with Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller - Dash Knob - Off-Road Mode - Up to 3 Axles - Proportional # RED44FR. It’s been great for hauling. I’m not mechanically inclined and I found the install fairly straight forward. I’d recommend

@Vin Super user friendly, it is why I recommend it so often. Thanks for the response Vin, helps having the manual over ride at an arms reach too in case you need to correct the sway, or for one of those emergency situations =)

I installed the Redarc with dash knob about a year ago. Use it to tow my travel trailer and flat bed trailer with my Savana 2500 cargo van. I've been happy with it. It did take some time to run some extra wires because the van didn't have factory brake wiring.

@Jeff Yes, a little time consuming running that wire to the rear, but nothing too difficult. Thanks for the response Jeff =)

I installed in on my Mercedes ML320 about a year ago. Easy install even though I had to splice into the wires. I couldn’t get the plug and play wires. Nevertheless it was straightforward and no trouble at all. I love the way it works. I e had several brake controllers over the years. Some cheaper one. Others really good. This is the best yet. I’ll be looking for another for my Mercedes ML 350.
