Trailer Hub Grease Seal

Looks like they are perfect for my trailer. Fast shipping and really great how they let you know every step and the seals arrived early and will be installed tomorrow!

Every thing fit perfect and was exactly what I needed. They work great also!!

If it weren’t for shipping taking an extended time, I woulda rated etrailer 5 stars. I know etrailer has no control over how poorly USPS performs but ultimately they continue to utilize their services for shipment. Initially my purchase was set to arrive on the 26th but I didn’t receive until the 3rd due to delivery delays. With that said, etrailer is phenomenal when it comes to everything trailer, super easy to find exact parts and they are always in stock. BUT they need to change carriers because USPS is terrible.

Ordered 4 GS-2250DL which were supposed to be 2.250ID x 3.376OD but I got 4 seals that were 1" ID x1 1\2 OD number on seal was GS 1250DL not the ones I ordered.Called customer service they were helpful but I was not able to do the job I wanted to do. let you know my full opinion when I get the replacement order.

by:

Great product and great service.Went on real easy.Got alot of help making sure I had correct parts for my axles. Will definitely shop there again.

by:

I ordered my seals, I paid $50 to have them overnighted, when I get them they are the wrong ones when you pay that kind of money it seems like somebody could get it right, nothing new in America today

Whoah! I am sorry that the wrong seals were sent. We will that corrected right away!

by:

These seals match the original seals perfectly. I really appreciate the phone and online assistance the folks at eTrailer provide. They make maintaining my trailer all that much easier.

by:

Perfect fit. I just replaced my brakes and repacked the bearings. Double lip seals are the only ones to use. I always carry a few spares and an extra set of bearings.

by:

quality made seals. i used one and have an extra one for back-up.

by:

I am surprised that I got this email a year after the purchase. Originally there was a shipping problem and I didn't get them before our planned departure date with our camper. I had to go to a local auto parts store for seals but unfortunately all they sell is the single lip type. I did eventually get the seals from Etrailor and I saved them. I just finished repacking the bearings yesterday, May 29th and used the new seals. I will be ordering another set soon for my next year servicing.

So far they have worked as advertised with no grease leakage. Double lip seals are always the best way to go.

by:

Working great after a year of use. Installed easily.

This was my third order from etrailer and I've never been disappointed. Shipping has either been free or very economical, along with arriving quickly. The website is easy to navigate and they have a huge inventory. I highly recommend etrailer

I bought a used 2002 camper with 2 dexter d-52 axles and I wanted to grease the bearings. I took it apart and the pads feel off the shoes so found this website and upgraded my system to the 23-428 & 23-429 never adjust brake assembly plus 2 new seals. Less than an hour an axle and you are done. I recondmend these guys for any parts I need in the future...

by:

Good price and perfect fit

by:

by:

correct part; installed properly; was a vailable

by:

etrailer is my go to place for trailer and RV related parts. They have what I need at a fair price, ship quickly, and the parts are always right. The installation videos are a great help if you are not sure what you are doing. These seals I ordered are spares just in case I have a bearing failure.

Sid

12/19/2022

As mentioned above these these were spares, but I did order another set with bearings and that set as been working flawlessly for a year and we have put over 6,000 miles on the RV in that time.

by:

The seals were spot on, exactly what I needed perfect fit. Great deal. Better then any Local automotive store or RV center .

by:

As advertised.

by:

I ordered these based off measurements of my old seals since I couldn’t find any numbers and markings. They fit perfect on my 6 lug C&B flatbed trailer! Thank you etrailer!

by:

Only had to replace one. Will be checking all again this summer when I re-pack my bearings.

by:

Rated average, because when I installed the seals, 2 of them the spring that puts pressure on the rubber seal popped off, luckily I caught and was able to put it back in place, never seen that happen to a seal before

  • Dexter Hub and Drum Assembly With 2.72" Diameter Grease Cap Flange
It sounds like you're looking for a hub and drum assembly that can use the # rg04-120 grease cap that fits a 2.72" grease cap flange. Grease seals for a 5,200-7,000 lb axle have a 2.125" or 2.25" inner diameter and a 3.376" outer diameter. The Dexter # 42866UC3-EZ matches your capacity, bolt pattern, and uses a 2.72" grease cap. As long as your current setup uses a # GS-2250DL grease seal with a 2.25" inner and 3.376" outer diameter this will work as a replacement.

  • Trailer Hub Grease Seals Need to be Greased before Install
It is not required to grease the rubber portion of hub seals like the # GS-2250DL that you referenced. You would not need to do that with the races either.

  • How to Identify Replacement Bearings With Illegible Part Numbers
Since your outer bearing is scored you will want to replace the bearing. If you are able to get the bearing numbers from your other wheel, let me know and I can give you the correct replacement bearings and any other components you need. Otherwise, you need to measure your spindle with a calipers to find the correct bearing diameters. A standard tape measure or ruler will not have enough precision to correctly read the measurements on your spindle. Refer to the diagram attached below on...

  • Replacement Hubs With Bearings 25580 and LM67048 and Brakes Which Fit
To replace your idler hubs with a hub and drum for electric brakes, what you can do is use Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # 8-201-5UC3 and replace its grease seal with # GS-2250DL, which has the same outer diameter as your current seal so it will work for you. This hub has a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern so finding wheels to fit should be no problem. The idler hub assembly would be # 8-213-5UC1. The hub and drum takes 12" brake assemblies, and the electric brakes that will work are # AKEBRK-6...

The Dexter Hub and Drum Assembly # 8-201-5UC3 will be a good fit, but the seal that is included will need to be changed to # GS-2250DL. • How to Pick Out Seal for Trailer Hub
I can help you determine what seal you'll need, but the number you listed does not match any cross references we have. To pick out a replacement grease seal you will need to measure the diameter of the spindle where the grease seal rides with a digital or dial caliper and then need to measure the hub bore where the current seal rides. With those two dimensions we can pick out the correct seal that you would need. You'll want exact measurements so you'll need to use a digital caliper like...

  • Locating Replacement Hubs for 5,200 Pound Axle
We actually have quite a few trailer hub assemblies for a 5,200 pound axle. In addition to brand and construction, the difference between the available options have to do with the bearing sizes they use, their bolt pattern, and whether they are standard grease or oil bath units. In order to determine the correct replacement hub for your trailer, you will want to pull an existing hub and check for the bearing and grease seal numbers. These numbers should be stamped right inside the bearings...
