Outstanding is the word that comes to mind regarding my experience with the brake kits that I received from etrailer!
I purchased a used Airstream and the brakes were toast.
I called etrailer and spoke to Joseph and he set me up with the kits I needed.
They arrived in 3 days with free shipping and I had all 4 installed in about 2.5 hours on a Saturday morning.
I would definitely do business with these guys again. It was painless!!!

Great!

by:

Just like to say that those self-adjusting brakes that I bought a year ago working fine way better that my old breaks that I had to adjust myself you got yourself a satisfied customer etrailer

by:

The Dexter brake kit was easy to install and are working great. I recommend that you also replace the brake drums as well. I didn't replace mine and the magnets are already getting grooves in them from the worn drums. Next time, I will replace the brakes and drums at the same time.

by:

William was a great help with his advice on replacing my trailer brakes and hubs and what parts and equipment I needed. I purchased with total confidence. To my amazement the parts arrived in two days! Outstanding service from a company I've come to know and trust over many years.

by:

Easy Peasy to install. Just need a chisel, snap ring pliers, and 36mm socket to get the drums off. (Never-Lube bearings) Then a 9/16" socket and some wire cutters to get off the backing plate. Be sure to get heatshrinking crimp-on connectors to reattach the wires behind the backing plate. Everything went together smoothly. Still need to tow the trailer and let the self adjusters do their thing, but it'll be awhile before our next trip.
FWIW we have an Airstream with about 50K miles on it and I replaced the brakes as a precaution. They actually still had many miles remaining on the linings and magnet.

Still working fine. Have put many miles on the new brakes - like participating in a caravan that went around the island of Newfoundland for two months...

by:

Very nice brake set up. Delivered as stated. Installation was a snap.
Pre lubed hubs are the way to go. Just slide them on and set the tension.
One dust cap was dented in shipping or packaging? But did not defray from the product quality.

by:

Great customer service! Excellent help finding the correct parts. I had some unusual issues that where resolved quickly. Was even provided a direct phone number. Don't get that kind of service much these days!

by:

I recently completed a brake upgrade on my trailer. The new Never Adjust Dexter Brakes went on flawlessly. I found the process to be straight forward. The self-adjusting feature was an upgrade from the previous brakes but bolted on with no issues. I like the idea of not needing to adjust brakes as the pads wear down. I needed all new brakes, this seemed like the best decision for replacements.

by:

I ordered 4 brake assembles for my Fifth wheel trailer to be delivered to an RV park we were staying in. They arrived on the day they said they would when I put in the order. Well packaged. Replaced my worn out brakes perfectly. I have ordered from etrailer a few times now and have yet to disappointed with delivery or product.

by:

Product was in original Dexter box inside shipping box. Everything looks great. I probably won’t instal till the fall since current brakes will get me through Summer trip.

by:

Your Nev-R-Adjust Trailer Brake Kits are working great, but when it comes time to replace them, how do you release the shoes that have worn into the drums so that the hubs can be removed?

Etrailer Expert

Andrew N.

10/11/2022

The hubs should slide right off the electric brake shoes. Sometimes you need to use a hammer to remove the hub. In some rare cases, voltage could be going to the brakes when it shouldnt be, leading to the brakes being engaged when the trailer is stopped. You would need to cut the voltage or disconnect the brake controller to release tension. Lastly, you can try using a flat screwdriver to spin the adjuster wheel underneath the brakes to release tension.

by:

Products arrived as specified by etrailer and very satisfied with ordering ease and delivery timeline.

by:

I ordered 4 brake assemblies 4 mo ago and just got around installing them. Found one assembly bad and contacted etrailer expecting them not to replace due to the time frame. Thanks to Kate F., she made things right and sent a replecement.

by:

It’s nice to actually have what you ordered in a tight time frame arrive on time. I only had one day available to do the the work required to finish this job. Of brakes and bears repacked.

by:

Packaging was great.

Excellent. Assemblies received were OEM specific and met my expectations.

by:

I got the parts in a timely fashion and they were well packaged to prevent damage. I installed the brakes today on my 1994 Airstream Classic 30 ft and they fit lime a glove. Work great

by:

The whole experience of ordering my replacement brake assemblies was awesome. Teresa did a fantastic job of figuring out which parts I needed. I would not hesitate to order parts from e-trailer in the future. The quality and fit-up of the Dexter brake assemblies made repairing my rv easier than I could have imagined. I am one happy camper. Thank you for an awesome consumer experience from start to finish.

The parts I purchased are working fantastic. I still consider the complete experience to be a 5-star transaction and will definitely order from e-trailer if I need parts in the future.

by:

Jake was awesome, put together just what I needed to fix my trailer.

by:

Installation was easy. Initial adjustment was just like drum brakes on a car and after that I followed the instructions to get the self adjusting dialed up by repeatedly applying trailer brake from lower speeds. they are all adjusted and work great!

by:

Fair prices and really fast shipping. I have used in past and om sure I will again.

by:

Very prompt service. The outer box however was broken open. Brakes appear to be undamaged.

by:

Thank You etrailer and in particular Adam E. I realized that the brakes on my 2005 Airstream Safari were not going to adjust enough to provide safe braking for our planned trip from Indianapolis, IN to Santa Fe, NM, Cortez, CO, and Moab, UT I called etrailer on Thursday Sept 26 and spoke with Adam E. I explained my trailer setup -
12 x 2" brakes on a 4400# Henschin double axel The brakes I was looking at were listed for Dexter and Lippert axels - there was no mention of the Henschin axels I was working with. I asked Adam E. if he had the bolt spacing for the 5 bold mounting flanges - he researched a diagram in etrailer archives which showed the bolt pattern and spacing - I matched the pattern and ordered for overnight shipment - Adam E. made shure my order was shipped - they arrived as requested on Sept. 27 I installed the Dexter brakes successfully on Sept. 28 and we left Sept. 29 on a wonderful 4100 mile trip through the great SouthWest with comfort and confidence knowing we had plenty of stopping power for any terrain we might find. Thank You Adam E. and etrailer Great People / Great Service / Great Products / Great Prices

by:

The product was as advertised and worked well. The packing on the other hand, was poor. Too large of a box and no packing material inside. The four boxes were loose and blew out the bottom of the packing box. UPS had to deliver the package upside down because of the condition of the box. Upon inspecting the parts I noticed brake shoes had become dislodged and I had to re-align them before installing.

by:

VERY NICE SET OF BRAKE ASSEMBLY S

by:

As usual with etrailer I ordered a much cheaper brake kit but that one was out of stock and back ordered. It’s frustrating cuz this seems to happen a lot with etrailer. The Dexter brake kits were top quality, bolted on easily and work great. They are made in USA which all of us should be more concerned with. The first product I selected was a chinese made product but the price was right. I am very pleased with the product it’s self, however coming out of pocket with almost $200 more for the the Dexter brakes was an unexpected cost. etrailer needs to stop selling products they do not have in stock!!

It sounds like you are asking what wire should be ground and which is power for installation of the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit # 23-458-459. The wires can be used for either, so if you want to use the black for ground you can, and the white wires will then be the power wires. • Troubleshooting the Adjustment or Lack of Adjustment on Self-Adjusting Brakes
To get your brake assemblies to start self-adjusting after the initial manual adjustment at install, you will need to hit the brakes hard multiple times. I recommend having the truck and trailer on a fairly smooth and level surface in a parking lot for this adjustment. You will slowly accelerate to no more than 20 mph, then hit the manual override on your brake controller to its max. It will be jarring, so be prepared. You will need to do this a few times. Then you can do the same...
