E-Z Lube-Compatible Hub for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub-and-drum assembly is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

  • Availability of Dexter Axle Brake Assemblies K23-026-00 and K23-027-00
We do have the regular Dexter Axle brakes and their Nev-R-Adjust equivalents. The regular (manually adjusted) brakes that you are wanting are listed as part # 23-26 for the Left Hand side and part # 23-27 for the Right Hand side. Their Nev-R-Adjust equivalents are parts # 23-468 and # 23-469 respectively. The Dexter Axle hub and drum assemblies that we have for a 3,500 lb axle use the Inner Bearing # L68149 and Outer Bearing # L44649. If you have a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern then you want...

  • Jeep Wheel Compatibility with Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System
Jeep wheels have the 5 on 5 inch bolt pattern and we do have hubs that fit the Axle-Less Systems and your Jeep wheels. It is recommended to use trailer wheels with trailer hubs because of the zero offset and tire design, but people have been using Jeep wheels especially for off-road trailers for years so we know they can work. We only have a couple compatibles option for that size hub. You will want the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System - 4" Lift Spindle w/Flange - Off-Road...

  • Can I Change a 5 on 4-1/2 Drum With A 5 on 5 Drum For A Trailer With 3,500 lb Axles
As long as the drums have the same weight capacity as the axles that you are putting them on then there should be no problems there. If you don't already have the 5 on 5 drums that you are asking about, I recommend using the E-Z Lube Hub and Drum Assembly # 84556UC3-EZ. It has the E-Z lube cap on the end of the drum so if you have E-Z-lube axles it makes greasing your axles easier. It also works great with axles that do not have the E-Z lube option. Since you are taking the 5 on 4-1/2...

  • Hub and Drum for a Dexter 3,500 Lb Axle with 5 on 5 Inch Bolt Pattern
The correct hub/drum for your Dexter 3,500 lb axle is more than likely going to be the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part # 84556UC3 or part # 84556UC3-EZ (E-Z Lube). The L68149/L44649 bearings and 10-19 grease seal that this kit uses is fairly standard for this axle. However, there are certain instances in which this is not the case. In order to be sure you can either give me the serial number off of the white tag on the axle or read me the bearing and seal numbers off the parts...

  • 5 on 5 inch Bolt Pattern Hub and Brake Assembly for Trailer with Hub 008-256-07
The hub part number you mentioned matches info we have for a 3,500 lb trailer axle hub but there aren't any hubs with a 4 lug bolt pattern for a 3,500 lb axle though. Did you maybe mean a 4 lug bolt pattern for the assembly to the spindle.

  • Timbren Axle-Less Suspension Recommendation for M1101 Trailer
From my available specs on your M1101 trailer, it has a maximum vehicle weight of 3,400 pounds. It also looks like it uses off-road tires. With that capacity and tire type, we only carry 2,000 pound Timbren Axleless systems that are compatible with the 5 on 5 bolt pattern you need. That is the # ASR2KHDS09. The hubs that go along with this are the # 84556UC3-EZ. With this system, you will be limited to a 2,000 pound weight capacity. As far as brakes, I always recommend Nev-R-Adjust...

  • Parts Needed To Swap Out The Axle On A 1991 M101A2 Military Trailer
If you're going to swap out your trailer's axle you'll first need to measure the distance from center to center for the spring seats (B) and from hub face to hub face (A) to find the correct length. Then we can narrow down the selection to a 3,500lb weight capacity and choose compatible hubs. For example if you had a hub face measurement of 89" and spring center measurement of 74" you could use part # T3584F-8974. You have done your research! I can confirm that the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit - 10" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 3.5K item # 23-468-469 is the correct brake kit you need for your Dexter 8-249 drums. • Dexter 8-249 Trailer Hub And Drum Replacement
We do have the correct replacement hub and drum for your Dexter 8-249, and there are a couple of options. The only thing that separates them is if you have an E-Z Lube axle (your spindle will have a grease zerk) and what your hub's bolt pattern is. You will want to match your bolt pattern so you can match your current wheels, and you will have either a 5 on 5" bolt pattern or a 5 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern. • Parts Needed to Add Brakes to 2023 Big Tex 35SV Single Axle Trailer
Yes, the # 84556UC3-EZ is the correct hub and drum assembly and the # 23-26-27 will work for brakes. However, you might want to consider the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust # 23-468-469 for brakes instead. Since they are self-adjusting, you won't have to worry about remembering to manually adjust your brakes. For a 7-way you can use the Hopkins 7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector # HM20048.
